I tried to update itunes and failed because of "Invalid signatures." I cannot only not update itunes but i cannot run any setup.exe like itunes or skype. I also cannot update my malware program or update mozilla firefox. I am looking for any insight on what could be doing this. I will try anything.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
My offline files seems to work offline all the time, even when it shows me being online. I sync most of my business files to my laptop for working at home at night. When I edit a file from my Win 7 (pro, 64-bit) laptop, then go to edit it again, I get the version I had changed, but no one else does. This is causing huge difficulty, because my employees will start working in a sales forecast spreadsheet after I reconnect to the network and supposedly sync, but they don't get the latest version. Even doing a manual sync seems to make no difference.
I have a system with 32gb DDR3-2400, a 256GB SSD and a couple of spinners. I have set up 4gb of the RAM to be used as another RAMdisk using the softperfect software. This problem has been going on for some time, but has been more of a problem since I started using the RAMdisk. Not because the RAMdisk itself isn't working well, because the stuff that is stored there keeps getting reset.I have pretty much identified that when updates are installed through windows update (either from Microsoft update or from my WSUS server), the following are reset to defaults
1. Pagefile is automatically managed and stored on the C: drive and is set to 32gb
2. The TEMP and TMP environment variables are reset to the C:users default location
3. The temporary Internet Files location is reset to the default C:users... location
There may be others that I have not discovered.I have manually set my swap file to 1024/2048 on the D: drive (a spinner), on the belief that it should rarely if ever be needed with a system equipped with 32GB of RAM. I'm certainly not inclined to waste 32GB of space on my SSD for an unused object.I have placed the TMP/TEMP files, cookies and Temporary Internet files on the RAMdisk to squeeze a little extra performance out of the system. (Yes, I know, I'm not really getting much benefit).Photoshop and a few other programs also use the RAMdisk as a scratch disk, and were the main reason I set it up in the first place. This is becoming a real pain when it gets reset as I have to manually change everything again. Anyone know a way to make windows leave settings at what I set them, instead of having it continually reset the values to what it wants? I'd prefer to have it my way. I know there will be proponents of "leave things as windows wants it".
whenever i try install updates for my laptop it goes through half way of installing the update then just stays at the same percentage for ever, im unable to update my laptop due to this.
I seem to not be able to install new programs to my computer anymore. dditionally, programs can not update themselves--the programs that auto-update have stopped working (they just "hang up" during the install or update process).
- Programs that don't try to update seem to work fine. I can use them, save new files, and do everything else as normal. The problem is restricted to programs that are trying to update, or programs I'm trying to install.
- Restarting the computer or trying to re-install the programs has not solved the issue.
- I am able to work around the issue for one of the programs (Screenpresso) by manually downloading the updated edition and installing it in safe mode. This tactic does not work on my other programs with "update issues" though (FocusMe, Market Samurai, & SpinnerChief)
- Disabling all my background monitoring programs in normal startup mode (Adaware, ZoneAlarm, AVG) has not helped
- The problem has been occuring for about a month and I've been tolerating it because the programs with issues were not needed then. Now they are--and I need to figure out what the issue is!
ive got a problem where im unable to update to windows 7. I have a Radeon HD 6670 Graphics Card. I've recently been playing black ops 2 and always got stuck on awaiting textures. I was told I need to update my drivers but there's a problem, I have no Catalyst Control Center! When I try to install it, the program never shows up. It says it successfully installed but it when I search for it in my computer the install file comes up. I've went into Windows Device Manager and it says my drivers are up to date, but when I go to AMD"s website i see a newer version. I try to download it but of course, I have no Catalyst Control Center. I have no idea how to fix this, and I hate getting into a match a minute late when playing bo2.
I upgraded to win 7 pro so I could run xp programs. I downloaded the program from microsoft they said I needed. Doesnt work!!! Wont run my xp programs. As usual Microsoft has ripped me off again with no instructions on how to make it work.
I did an update and got a BSOD. Message said "Check disc"' After completion, all my programs and settings are lost. I have done Acronis backups, but they are gone. I tried to do a restore, but only date it gives is today's. Can I use the Windows 7 disc to do a repair or will I have to do a complete re-install? Also, after screen came back, I kept getting a "Windows Validation Failed" even though I clicked Validate online and it said "Validation complete".
This may be difficult to troubleshoot because I have very few details about the computer in question. A friend called me because I am fairly good with basic computer problems. I'm not sure of the hardware specs, but it's a 2010 or 2011 model PC with Windows 7 installed. They did a Windows Update, and let it update just fine - they did not restart or shut down at all during the update. Once the update completed however, they can't open anything up.
Every time they try opening a program, they get an error message. Also, he mentioned that at first after the update, it wouldn't even boot up. He would get a message saying that he needs to restore to system defaults. Somehow, they got the computer to boot but it wont open any programs. How do you reset a Windows 7 computer to factory settings?
My explorer.exe is bugging. I cannot open anything, even Windows Task Manager and it seems to be that it's frozen in time. Windows Task Manager is not open, and I have two icons in my tray for it, both frozen. Skype won't update itself, like, my friend, I was IMing him and I read the IM, and it's still saying I have a notification, on Skype AND on explorer.exe (Task bar wise).
I have a few portable programs on my computer. How do I update them without losing any settings etc. that I have changed? Do I move ".ini files" and/or ".cfg files" and/or "whatever" out of the old version of the program and into the new?
I am trying to update my computer's clock by synchronizing with an internet time source, but keep getting "Unable to continue - you do not have permission to perform this task. Contact computer administrator for help"!! As I am the only user, presume I am therefore the administrator, and have never had any trouble previously?
I am unable to successfully run Windows Update Service on my Win7 64-bit computer. I have tried the following:Run various fixes from Microsoft.com to "fix" windows update service (as shown here url...)Added update website to IE9 (as shown here url...)Turn off Windows firewallTurn off AVGRun various checkers such as malwarebytes, Spybot, Ad-aware, CCleaner, TDSSKillerCheck for proxy serverIn every case I still get Windows Update error 80072efd. I am out of ideas. I hope someone from Bleepingcomputers can take my case and walk me thru some other things to try.
I have just bought an iPad and have to update my version of iTunes.Currently I am running version 10:4:1:10 and need to update to 10:6:3. I have downloaded iTunes no problem but at the end of installation I get the following message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A programme for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package Vendor".I have gone into services.msc and to the windows installer and run Start and also changed from manual to automatic to no avail.I am running Windows 7 64 bit with McAfee anti-virus software. I want to synch my iTunes library to my iPad any suggestions as to how I can install the iTunes update?
But anyway, I updated my windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on December 14th. When I tried to reboot, it simply looped over and over until system repair came up. I've run it 19 times to date, and nothing. Luckily I have another windows 7 ultimate 64, and I created a repair disk on that to use. I tried the memory restore boot option, disable driver signing, diagnosed memory errors, etc. I tried to run an SFC Scannow, but it always says that there is a system repair that requires a reboot, please try again later. I managed to get all of my files off the computer, but still, I have nine different users on it, and it would be a pain in the ass to restore it. Is there anything I haven't tried? And before you ask, this is a legitimate copy -.-EDIT: I thought to disable automatic reboot after a crash, and I got the following error message:STOP: c000021a {Fatal System error}The non-DLL file included in known DLL list. system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000036f (0x005ff710 0x00000000)
This Microsoft update repeatedly fails on my automatic updates. I try to do it manually, still no luck.: Security Update for Microsoft Works 9 (KB2754670)
Finally, my Outlook also doesn't work. I get the following error message:Task email address - Receiving' reported error (0x80040900) : 'The server name you entered cannot be found on the network (it might be down temporarily). Verify that you are online and that the server name is correct.'
Everytime i try to install a program it just hangs and never completes. I am running window 7 64bit and have been search the internet for any possible solution. Everything i have tried has not worked. Examples of programs i have not been able to install include, new version of java, flash player, itunes.
Problem started earlier tonight. I clicked accept or okay on something that I think was a Windows Update (Honestly, at this point, I'm unsure of what it is I really clicked. I know that's stupid of me to click accept or ok on something I wasn't paying attention to, but it's too late now.) and my computer completely restarted. When it came back up, I attempted to get back on Skype, Windows Live Messenger, and Mozilla Firefox. None of them would open. I clicked on the icons as well as the links in my start menu. Although, on the start menus, it showed as if I was still signed into those programs. My mouse pointer on the screen gave me a little circle as if it were loading, but nothing happened. Suddenly, I got a blue screen with something that said "Crash" and "Dump" in it. I panicked. When it finally restarted my computer again, I still cannot access any programs, including my anti virus. I can get into Pain, My Documents, and such, but nothing else really.
I tried restoring to three days before, but the problem followed me. I also tried Safe Mode, nothing would work there either. I am using a separate computer to access this website. I am using Windows 7
So, I wanted to free up some space on my hard drive, and I found this. The funny thing is, I don't even have 2.95 TB on my hard drive. Its a 640 GB. Anyway, I was wondering if any on here could tell me a way to fix this problem, and to get the "Uninstall or change a program" feature to stop lying to me.
My issues first began with Microsoft Office Word Starter. I couldn't run it -- I would get an error message about there being no associated file. I fixed this with system restore, and my computer was good for a while. Perhaps a week later, I noticed I was unable to install any programs. I would get a notification saying something about shell.dll and that there was no file associated with whatever it was that I would try to install (VLC player, Adobe Reader, the list goes on... but for some reason WinRAR worked).I tried to remedy this by doing a system restore. When my computer started up again, a notification popped up saying that system restore failed (or that it was unable to make changes). Today, I noticed I am unable to run anything as administrator, FireFox has been acting up, and my computer has been freezing quite frequently.
