I am using Windows 7 on HP pavillion 33 entertainment notebook for College. I upgraded to IE 9 for college and soon realized that I could not attach my assignments in discussion boards. I then downloaded Firefox in order to try a different browser but in each browser i can not upload attachments.
Beginning about a week ago I cannot attach ANY files to my email (yahoo) because when I click on "attach file" the little box opens as usual, but when I click on "desktop" so I can access the file from it, nothing at all happens. It will not open for me to get to the file I have.
I have an EP45-UD3P Gigabyte mobo. I came across something called HPET. It says to set it to 32 bit or 64 bit for Vista. I assume it's the same for Windows 7.
Does anyone know for sure? I enabled 64 bit and started installing Windows 7 but it seems like there are long delays in the install process.
Are we supposed to use this feature?
Also, how do I make the startup options stay up for longer that like 2-3 seconds? I can't find this option?
I can't find the port assignments in Windows 7. They're supposed to be in Device Manager between "Network adapters" and "Processors." Ports are not listed. How do I find them?
When I assign one of the mouse buttons to "Close" or to a keystroke combination (Ctrl-F4, Alt-F4, Ctrl-W etc.), after using the mouse buttons the Ctrl (or Alt) key behaves erratically as if it were stuck on the keyboard.
This is not a hardware fault of the keyboard, I tried different types and makes. I have Vista64 but I read on various forums people have this on Win7 as well, both 32 and 64. Worst of all it happens both with Microsoft Explorer (MiniMouse in my case) with Intellipoint and Logitech VX Revoution and their Setpoint. (Newest versions were installed). Other people report it with further mice.
Nothing is turned on regarding Accessibility and Sticky keys. As to date I found no evasion to this frustrating issue except not assigning mouse buttons the way I want. Is there some merciful soul out here who will share a solution ? Logitech know of this but their newer versions did not solve this, same goes for MS.
How do you reset (clear) all current USB drive letter assignments? As a result of changing my external USB Hub controller from a CyberPower CP-H720P (USB 2.0 7-Port Hub w/Power Adapter) to a SIIG 06-0960A (USB 3.0 w/3-Ports & USB 2.0 w/3-Ports plus Card Reader w/Power Adapter), all of my original external USB drive letters were changed. The following are my Original and New USB external device drive letters: F changed to O Port 7 Hub 3 Patriot Memory (16GB USB 2.0 Memory) G changed to N Port 2 Hub 4 Desktop (Seagate USB 2.0) H changed to M Port 1 Hub 4 Free Agent Desktop (Seagate USB 2.0) I changed to K Port 4 Hub 3 MyBook 1130 (Western Digital USB 3.0) J changed to L Port 3 Hub 3 MyBook 1140 (Western Digital USB 3.0) I need to know what steps I must perform to clear (reset) my current USB drive letter assignments so that I can begin anew starting with the first available drive letter, drive letter F.
In the past when I wanted to attach a photo to an email I would browse the desktop for the folder that I wanted. Now for some reason I cannot access the desktop. When I browse I get the download folder. On the area on the left of the download folder specifies document, drives and my external drive. How can I correct this?
I have Windows 7 Professional installed on my 13" Macbook pro, I went to attach a VHD, but the option was greyed out, it won't let me create one either?

I have an NEC Superscript 870 that does not have Windows 7 drivers. Is it at all possible to run a printer in WXP compatibility mode as we can run programs in WXP compatibility mode??? Sure would not only save a few (very dear) dollars, but also prevent idiotic waste of a perfectly good asset (where is all of their "think green" money where their mouths are???). I am intentionally not upgrading one computer to Windows 7 just so I can copy docs over to the WXP computer and bring them up on it so I can print them.
I know, I know, I know... SATA is Hot PnP. I'm old school and finally gotten over the fear of Hot PnP USB.
I'm replacing a new Windows 7 PC for a customer and the old PC is WXP. Reason being, the old PC Pwr Supply died. Can I take the old SATA HD w/WXP on it and just plug it into a SATA port on the new PC while it's running to copy files from it (safely).
And can I facilitate a Files and Settings Transfer WXP-to-Windows 7 in this manner?
I am upgrading my HTPC that i put together a few years back to have a SSD as a boot drive to increase space, quiet background running and speed up booting, etc.Everything was running fine before trying to exchange the raptor for the m4. I had a big issue getting Windows installed on m4 but finally did a clean install when no harddrive was connected except the SSD to the original SATA port of the boot drive. Once I had windows installed, and i was able to boot up with only the SSD attached to the boot SATA port, I attached the 3 storage drives to their original SATA ports and got an error when booting... it paused in mid boot, then started searching for a boot disk in the DVD drive. I looked at the BIOS and the SSD is listed as 1st (port0) on hard drive boot order and hard drive is 1st boot priority. I unplugged all 3 storage drives and it booted up without an issue
I'm trying to attach a sound file to a photo so I can play it on my digital picture frame. I am also trying to make it so when I click on the photo file it will automatically trigger the sound file to play.
I have Win 7 Professional x64, and whenever I attach a USB device (my mp3 player, to update its firmware), it installs the drivers needed, then after about 30 seconds automatically detaches (that is, it is shared and auto-reattaches to Windows 7). I have uninstalled and then reinstalled XP mode, uninstalled and reinstalled the Virtualization drivers, and tried using different USB ports. how to make it stay attached until XP Mode is hibernated?
I run Win 7 64 bit with Virtual XP. I loaded HP 5400C software into Virtual XP. I attached Scanner and was able to scan/print and scan/pdf. ie everything worked as it should. A week later Virtual XP requested I run 7 updates. Since 7 updates the Virtual XP sees the scanner. When I request "attach" it goes ding dong. When I check again the wording does not change to "release" I think the problem lies with the recent updating. The scanner software reports the scanner can't be found.
I'm trying to send some pictures and I want to reduce the size of them as I send themI'm using Windows Photo Gallery. I open it. My device is listed on the left hand column and when I click to view it, all it will do is try to import all the 3000 pictures I have on there. I don't want to put them into this new computer as they take up a lot of space. So, I just want to send a couple of them in an email.Maybe in this new computer with 450 GB, it would be okay to import them? can click on photo email as an attachment, and it will give me an opportunity to change the size and put it in the email. That's good, but I can't get to the pictures on my usb drive.I've dug around and found that it will not read unless the drive is listed under: computer, hard drives, and that is something the manufacturer does.
All of a sudden this evening I can no longer attach multiple images/files to an email. Neither does the "Control-A" or click on a file hold "shift" and click on another file work. Also when I attach a single file instead of giving me the progression bar it almost instantly indicated the file is attached.Of course this is irritating as multiple time a day I will send emails with images attached and I have to have this feature working.
since beginning of july 2012 my laptop won't allow me to upload anything online to sites like facebook, Internet, attach files to emails and other websites. it seems i can't send files through an instant messenger, either, so i know it's not a problem with my browser. i can browse sites and play/watch videos & also download. when i upload a picture or an attachment, the gif image keeps rotating but the upload bar doesnt go above 2%. i've checked windows firewall's advanced settings, and outbound connections are allowed, and all the rules that would say anything isn't allowed don't have anything to do with files to websites. i scanned my pc for viruses using avira antivirus and also malware bytes anti malware. also scanned and fixed registry usingccleaner. finally did a system restore. im using google chrome. tried on mozilla firefox & internet explorer-9 but same result. did a reset as well. my os is windows 7.also i've tried turning off the antivirus & also firewall for public networks. that doesn't help either[code]
Somehow, as usual, I deleted all the shortcuts that I had on my taskbar. In the process or reinstalling the shortcuts, the Revouninstaller shortcut icon just wouldn't attach to the taskbar. There was no pin to taskbar in the content menu.?
if there is a way to open the Command Prompt during Windows XP installation (booted from CD) and find a way to attach a Virtual Hard Disk so you could install XP on it (just like with Windows 7 and 8)?
Every time I try to attach a photo or doc to an email using either Yahoo, Comcast or whatever browser, the system freezes and crashes. I called Microsoft and spent over an hour with one of their techs, and he got it to work for about a week, now it's doing it again
I have a new laptop and it windows 7 I am in Word and trying to attach my document to an email which I did but it won't open when the reciever tries to open it.
I am trying to figure out a way to make it so that I can attach a note, whether it be a text file, or a pop-up box that the user must respond to, upon opening an application, such as Easy File Locker. The purpose of this would be to supply a brief instruction before the user uses the application. I don't know if there is a third party software out there that can do this or if I can do it somehow without any new software. Again, it would work in such a way that the not would be shown upon opening the application that it is attached to normally, just so that there could be some instruction before use.
I know about the ability to attach a note in the right click context menu when right clicking the application, but I need something that works like when you open the application the note is opened and shown on the screen before the application itself opens. Here are my specs:[CODE]
Got a new Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit machine, found that it did not come with virtual PC. Downloaded the critical patch Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu and installed it. Windows Virtual PC shows up in my Start Menu. Good so far. I go through the steps to create a virtual machine and use the option to 'use an existing vhd file' and when I click 'Create' I get the above pop-up message "Cannot attach the virtual hard disk to the virtual machine. Check values and try again". A factual message but completely useless as with all error messages from Microsoft. I have tried the following:1. When I attach that vhd using Disk Management, it mounts in drive E:, I can see the files and browse the dirs in E:. In the Disk Management View, the drive shows up as 127 Gigs but 107 is unallocated space. The physical size of the vhd is only 25 Gigs2. Others in my company were able to create the virtual machine with the same vhd, checked the byte size and timing, so nothing is wrong with the vhd file itself.
3. Tried to create after shutting down all virus protection including the Micorsoft antimalware protection service. No luck4. Tried Vhd resize to resize the vhd to a smaller size (since it showed up in disk management as 127 Gigs, I thought maybe it was that size), but VHDResizer could not open the input file, gave an errors "Can only load fixed or dynamic drives"
