View 1 RepliesI've pulled the old Fan out. When I google the PN: hi. 10800.028 e I learn it's Socket 775, 95mm which I confirmed by measuring fan diameter.
Tiger Direct shows this right-priced replacement model which matches every spec except it has a 3 pin plug: VALUE SOCKET T/775 HEATSINK at TigerDirect.com. They don't know if 3 pin plug works when 4 pins are present on mobo and original part has 4 pin plug.
There's also this used one which exactly matches PN: Acer HI.10800.028 Heatsink and Fan Gateway AX3400G X1420G X1920G
And this one for twice the price that matches even the Acer model number: New Acer Aspire X1200 X1300 X1301 X1800 X3200 X3300 X3810 Cpu Fan. But he doesn't wanna spend that much.
I have an EP45-UD3P Gigabyte mobo. I came across something called HPET. It says to set it to 32 bit or 64 bit for Vista. I assume it's the same for Windows 7.
Does anyone know for sure? I enabled 64 bit and started installing Windows 7 but it seems like there are long delays in the install process.
Are we supposed to use this feature?
Also, how do I make the startup options stay up for longer that like 2-3 seconds? I can't find this option?
I just bought a Netgear WNA3100 wireless usb adapter for my HP Win 7 64 bit laptop. I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy taskbar buttons are set to never combine. Each instance of a program is separate. However, they seemed to be locked together when I want to move them. What's particularly annoying is that if I want instance A of this program to be on the left I can't move it if I already have another instance of the program open (instance B). They are locked in their left and right positions.
If I wish to move them around relative to different programs open in my taskbar that's fine. However, if I wish to move them among each other they're locked in place.
Is anyone aware of a way to disable this? I believe I was able to do this at some point on my laptop which also used windows 7.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed two new 120GB SSD drives into my system. Previously, I had two 1TB drives in a RAID 0. After doing a performance test to see if there was a speed increase, I also bound the two new 120Gb SSDs into a NEW RAID 0.The idea was to use the new, faster array for windows, and whatever programs I am currently using, and then use the old array for storage. I could install windows on the new drives with So, I proceeded to install Windows 7 on the new array, leaving the old array alone. Installation went without a hitch. I looked at my new drive under My Computer- 1.98 TB. NOT the 240GB partition I just made, and NOT the 1.74 TB partition I used before the new drives. It, for some reason I cant fathom, combined all 4 drives, encompassing BOTH arrays, new and old HDD and SSD into one partition, and had installed windows OVER TOP OF ALL MY DATA.I dont know WHY this happened, but what do I do now to get my data back? I tried starting the computer without the new array, but it wont boot. I need my data back, and I need to get windows installed on the new array, the way I wanted.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWell I had a motherboard failure when it just stopped working (Thi it had something to do with reading the ram as it stopped seeing my 2 sticks as duel channel before it outright stopped working.Right now I got a few days before I can buy my hardware, I was going to get an FX6100 hex core, but after reading about it a bit more I figured it might be better to go with a AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition.I am really not sure what I should get and could use some advice. I figured out the ram and motherboard I will get, but with what I seen I have no idea what to do about the CPU anymore.

So any advice on a decent CPU that will not break the bank. I was trying to stay around $300 for the three parts I am getting so Intell is pretty much out of the question (besides I like AMD)
My Internet connection has been very shaky these past few day and now it refuses to work on either of my computers except for Skype on the wireless connection of my laptop.
The main desktop is connected to the router and modem yet can't access the Internet, with a "no Internet access" sign, while the laptop says it IS connected yet I can only use Skype.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have it on disk, but the disk was chipped so I thought that was my problem. So when I downloaded the online version and purchased the full version, I'm having the same problemThe game will not move once the main screen come up. The only way I can move forward is to use control, alt, delete and then cancel, which will take me back to the game to the next step as if I clicked on a choice, otherwise the game will not move. I used the control, alt , delete method to start a game and even the graphics are not clear.

This PC is attached to a network containing several desktops and laptops running Vista. The Samsung laser printer ML-2240 is attachde by USB to this XP PC. Printing over the network operates perfectly with all other PCs. I have just purchased an Acer laptop with Windows 7 and followed the instructions for file sharing, which works perfectly. I have followed the instructions for installing the printer, and received confirmation that it is installed. However, when I attempt to print out of Word 2007 and press the button "find printer" in the Samsung printer profile I get the message "Active Directory Main Services is currently unavailable". I see that this has been found over the years by many people! I am looking for a solution in my context. The rest of the network operates fine still and I can edit the same Word file over the network and print fine.
i am having trying to get my homegroup setup on my main computer? from my understanding it is pretty simple (apparently not for me). i'm not getting the "join now" page when i go the homegroup in control panel. this is the only page i keep getting, i've pretty much tried everything but i keep getting this page, not the "join now" page. i've watched videos on Internet on how to do it but it's not doing what it is suppose to do.
i'm not sure but i think it might have something to do with my router?
Basically if I wanna change settings or install things, I cannot. It says I need to be the administrator, I have no clue why my account changed to standard. Here's what I've tried to resolve my problem, but it has not worked.
- Control Panel> User Accounts> Change Your Account Type> Admin.> Select
Didn't work and when I go back to it, it still says standard.
- Run> netplwiz> Name of Account> Admin> Access denied
How to fix this so my only account can be an admin?

I then later un-shared them by unclicking the tab but all the computers could see the drives that had been previously shared from my main computer. They could even access them even though they had been unshared. I then later reinstalled windows7 on my main computer but the drives are still visible and accessable from computers on my network.

i was having a problem with a usb driver i downloaded for my motorola phone. I found that out because every time i disconnected it from my laptop a blue screen would pop up and would restart my computer. This happened to me 3 times. A while ago i was playing my games perfectly with my main graphics card the Nvidia GT 555m. I was charging my phone then i disconnected the usb then the blue screen popped again and restarted my laptop. I then tried fixing the driver problem and i did. The only problem was when i tried playing my games it was running slow and i noticed that it was running on the integrated graphics card Intel R graphics HD card. I went to check under display adapters and noticed that the Dedicated graphics card Nvidia Gt 555m was not there anymore.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two monitors on my system (win 7) and from time to time the main monitor gets turned down in brightness. The other monitor is just find but something ( a virus, malware or program) is turning the brightness down for no reason. I have run malware and virus protection and found nothing.. Sometime is will be in the middle of a session and other times it will be on boot. It's not the monitor I'm sure (turning it on and off does not work) and it's always the same monitor that is effected.
