so I was on my desktop main account and then let my dad log on to a guest account I recently created for him since his laptop isn't working, then when I came back I logged onto my profile I couldn't open any browser, in the case of firefox this came up (firefox can't load host something, missing profile) and chrome (your preferences cannot be read)
then I couln't open some shorcuts (windows cannot find the target. and my utorrent setting reset as well, like if I had never used it, BUT the guest account works perfectly.
I'm able to open firefox with open as administrator but all addons, bookmarks are gone, I can't open the document, picture, and music links on the start menu either
Main computer is the office computer. Its a desktop that a person is constantly on and doing stuff. There are 3 others that need the same information and documents at any given time. These 3 people have their laptops that are constantly switching wifi hotspots. They need to change information sometimes, and need access to all of it any time. The way its setup now is 1 person is on the main computer, but when one of the three need to access it, they remotely log in and take control. Only one person can access the computer at a time. How do I set it up so all four of these people can access and change the files at the same time if they want? The main computer is being used constantly, but someone always needs a document or file while the main person is working on it. So it slows production when someone logs in.
This same problem happened about 1-2 months ago on the first user profile on the computer. My cousin and I searched google and all we could find was deleting 1 of 2 registries or something along those lines, we tried and it didn't work. Since the problem seemed like a one in a million shot, we eventually settled on copying the contents of the other user profile into a new user profile through the hidden administrator account. We just used that account instead. The other account is still on the computer as well
I have 2 users on my computer operated by Windows 7. When logged in the first user account I have to reboot Windows 7 in order to access the second user and vice versa.
Couple of days ago I protected and encrypted a rar file with password while I was using administrator profile. After a week, I made another profile in win7 and made it administrator; simultaneously I deleted the previous profile. Now I cant access that rar file; its showing access denied.
I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer and have only just sorted out a problem saying my copy of windows is not genuine (when it is) and I have been getting another problem with that. This concerns Windows 7 logging me into a temporary profile when trying to access my main admin account. It started off happening quite infrequently, and I was able to get onto my main account with a few system reboots. But now I can't get into my main profile at all.
Problem #1 ... I deleted my Yahoo.com account and opened a new Yahoo att.net account, as a sub-account for AT&T. I changed password for the new account ... now when I clicked on my Yahoo acct. profile I was said "You are FORBIDDEN to access this page". What the Hell is going on? I was on online support chat with ATT yesterday, ge a pw in the sub-account, and I think after that I got that "Forbidden" message. I found out after I quit the session.Aghhh......Problem #2 - I can not log in Yahoo Messenger any more. I entered a new password and the same User ID (was not changed) but it's dead to me. Editing to say, I am not sure if these 2 problems are connected or not. Messenger says that Yahoo server is not responsive, or something like that, about the server.
i can not acces to my information and when i logged in a message appeared and it said that all my information would be deleated when i log off, it is what i did, i clicked in my profile properties and then i clicked in the security tab and i clicked in edit then i marked all in deny because i wanted to make private all my information but then it happened all that im describing. I can not acces my information, i want to know how can i do to recover my information. Meanwhilei can not turn off my pc because i will lose all my information, i logged in with another account but i can not access to my information, when i clicked in this users properties and then i click in the security tab, my profile that is in danger does not appear
There is a user in my office who needs access to a website. The site has been added to the "favorites bar" in IE. The user had access to this site last month and now when attempting to access site they recieve the error message "Internet Explorer cannot display the Webpage" When I log on as a different user, and user the same shortcut from the other users favorites the Web page opens normally. I believe that this is a profile problem but unsure of how to address it.I don't want to delete the user profile.The Machine is a Dell E6400 with Windows 7 and Office 2010, Internet Explorer 8?
I have a setup with 6 monitors. Today my main monitor broke and I couldn't find a way to shut the PC down since I couldn't access the main desktop to get to the Start menu.Is there a way to change which monitor is the main monitor without having access to the current main monitor?
Originally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess.After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.
i have problems with adobe cs6 installing, and it's been suggested i install it under a new profile. no problem with that, however, will i be able to access / run it under my 'normal' profile? finally, will doing this affect any of my existing programs in my 'normal' profile?
I was having windows 7 as my os. But due to some work I had to install xp in one of the drives. Later I uninstalled xp. But at the time of booting 2 choices appear - xp and windows 7. Windows 7 is ok as it is my OS. But if I choose xp then an error message appears - unable to find hal.dll in system32 directory. I don't know why this choice of xp appears when I don't have xp installed.
I am asking this question since this is my first compter with an SSD primary drive. I have a 120gb ssd primary and a 3TB mechanical split into 2 partitions 1 500gb for apps and the rest is storage. I want to reformat my Windows installtion drive. But what i'm curious about is how is this going to effect the apps i have installed on the mechanical drive. Will this cause issues with windows references not running the apps properly.
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64 and my main account logs in then automatically logs off. I can successfully log in using Safe Mode to this account. I created another account called test and I can access this account in both Safe and Normal modes. I ran Malware Bytes and Avast Anti-Virus and they found nothing. What can I do fix this issue or transfer my Outlook, programs and such to the test user account and rename it?
I have Asus laptop with OEM Windows 7 HomeP 64bit on it, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 along side with Windows 7, didn't know that Ubuntu will be the main boot, I used Ubuntu 11.10 a year a go and Windows was my main boot, I tired several way to retrieve Windows 7 as main boot but didn't work.I tried to fully recover Windows, but when finished I get black screen with "getgrub error" now recovery doesn't work any more.I want to get rid of Ubuntu for ever, how? without losing my genuine Windows 7
I have a Windows 7 Professional 32 bit operating system, which is joined to a domain at my workplace. If i open Eindows Explorer and open a network drive ( I: ), then the Windows Explorer open's it, but after a few seconds later, it jumps back to the main page. It is very annoying. I have 11 network drives, but only on two networks drives occurs this problem.
when i try to create a new user profile ~ with or without a password, it shows up on the main login page, but when i click on it to open, the message "UserProfileService_service failed the logon_user profile cannot be loaded". i have searched microsoft support with little solutions listed. and the ones that are listed seem too technical for me to be trying on my own. there are many posts there with this problem, but they all seem to be several years old.
i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.
My wife's Dell desktop (after a nighttime thunderstorm) will not permit her to log on. When she enters the password she gets the following message: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a user fix, or should we take the computer back to where it was bought for service?
install the second taskbar and put it on the left or top side of the desktop? It's possible to create a new taskbar but if you want to move it, it moves together with the Main taskbar.
Well I had a motherboard failure when it just stopped working (Thi it had something to do with reading the ram as it stopped seeing my 2 sticks as duel channel before it outright stopped working.Right now I got a few days before I can buy my hardware, I was going to get an FX6100 hex core, but after reading about it a bit more I figured it might be better to go with a AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition.I am really not sure what I should get and could use some advice. I figured out the ram and motherboard I will get, but with what I seen I have no idea what to do about the CPU anymore.

My Internet connection has been very shaky these past few day and now it refuses to work on either of my computers except for Skype on the wireless connection of my laptop.
The main desktop is connected to the router and modem yet can't access the Internet, with a "no Internet access" sign, while the laptop says it IS connected yet I can only use Skype.
I am running windows 7 pro with two monitors. one is vga the hdmi. i have selected the screen i want as the main display and saved the settings. at random with reboot they will swap and then i have to reconfigure my desktop. i have tried swapping both the monitor and the port connection to no avail. how do i make it keep my settings?

So when I downloaded the online version and purchased the full version, I'm having the same problemThe game will not move once the main screen come up. The only way I can move forward is to use control, alt, delete and then cancel, which will take me back to the game to the next step as if I clicked on a choice, otherwise the game will not move. This PC is attached to a network containing several desktops and laptops running Vista. The Samsung laser printer ML-2240 is attachde by USB to this XP PC. Printing over the network operates perfectly with all other PCs. I have just purchased an Acer laptop with Windows 7 and followed the instructions for file sharing, which works perfectly. I have followed the instructions for installing the printer, and received confirmation that it is installed. However, when I attempt to print out of Word 2007 and press the button "find printer" in the Samsung printer profile I get the message "Active Directory Main Services is currently unavailable". I see that this has been found over the years by many people! I am looking for a solution in my context. The rest of the network operates fine still and I can edit the same Word file over the network and print fine.
i am having trying to get my homegroup setup on my main computer? from my understanding it is pretty simple (apparently not for me). i'm not getting the "join now" page when i go the homegroup in control panel. this is the only page i keep getting, i've pretty much tried everything but i keep getting this page, not the "join now" page. i've watched videos on Internet on how to do it but it's not doing what it is suppose to do. i'm not sure but i think it might have something to do with my router?
Basically if I wanna change settings or install things, I cannot. It says I need to be the administrator, I have no clue why my account changed to standard. Here's what I've tried to resolve my problem, but it has not worked.
- Control Panel> User Accounts> Change Your Account Type> Admin.> Select Didn't work and when I go back to it, it still says standard.
- Run> netplwiz> Name of Account> Admin> Access denied How to fix this so my only account can be an admin?
So I have 4 computers and the one I'm planning on throwing out has been set to main home group. Can I delete the existing home group or change the main home group to another computer?
A while back I shared all my main pc drives on my newtork by right clicking on the drive in my computer then clicking the share tab. I then later un-shared them by unclicking the tab but all the computers could see the drives that had been previously shared from my main computer. They could even access them even though they had been unshared. I then later reinstalled windows7 on my main computer but the drives are still visible and accessable from computers on my network.
