I tried installing my NEC USB3 3.0 Host Controller File after a repair/upgrade install. Now, I get the above error during the driver setup. I downloaded the driver directly from Asus.

" I checked the integrity of my system files, and it says everything is A-ok. Any suggestions on how to fix/install this without restoring my computer to a previous state?

When I click on them to install the program I get a message saying Windows is preventing running the file for security reasons. I know the file is free of viruses and want to install it. I am told there is a setting somewhere to turn this security feature "off"--I am the only user of my PC and want this annoyance turned off.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on a stand-alone PC with a hardwired Internet connection (no router).
I recall reading some time ago about a new feature in Windows 7 for user generated error reporting that would allow a user to record their desktop / take periodic screenshots while they replicated an error, which would then allow them to forward / email the report to someone who could offer help.
I can't seem to locate this feature in Windows 7 Ultimate, and i'm having trouble locating any articles talking about the feature.
Was it removed or am i not looking hard enough?
I have a Gateway NV53 and cannot get to start. I have tried system restore, factory restore, every way i know to start and cant get past error code. I DO NOT have a win 7 install disk so i feel i am stuck ? I tried a system image from my Toshiba, a repair disk for win 7 all to no avail
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new rig and I had a problem with one stick of memory. The other stick worked alright, but I've been getting random failures. Can bad memory be inconsistent? Right now, I can't start my OS up at all. It goes straight to the Windows Repair Launcher, which fails. When it gets there, I can either find a restore point or let it 'attempt to fix' for as long as I can endure. The restore point option results in 'instruction xxx failed. memory reference xxx failed.'This leads me to believe there is a problem with the memory. But, could it be the motherboard? I played a video game for hours last night, as well as surfed the web and ran other applications. Everything was fine, until I shut down. This isn't the first time this happened. Last time, I 'fixed' it by switching the 'good' memory stick with the bad. The bad resulted in getting the OS up, but lots of BSOD's

It adds time to each boot up period as it goes through the updates and then at the end will say it's failed and is reverting all the changes. I have already done some research on this issue and ran "sfc/scannow" as well as "chkdsk/f/r." Both seemed to go through with no problems. After that I did a Windows update and 12 updates seemed to go through with no problem until the required reboot where we're back to the same issue of failing and reverting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI"m trying to make a system image of my laptop hard drive onto my new 1 TB Seagate internal HD using a Rocketfish case. Some time after it starts doing a data transfer, I get a "the backup failed" red bar. I've read online things about having to delete hidden system partitions, but it's all fuzzy and I'm not about to start deleting things without knowing what I'm doing.
This move is necessary for me, since my existing laptop HD is beginning to fail and I need to move its contents asap. I did run a system check on my laptop and it found no errors.
I've no idea what's causing this. I tried installing the language packs last night and woke up the next morning to the error codes mentioned above.

The credentials I enter are correct but I always get an error message that the location can't be used because the password is not correct (Error code 0x80070056).
Is this a bug in Windows 7? Any way to fix or work around this?
Up until about a week ago my computer was happily running along until all of a sudden - POW! A good chunk of my games no longer launch. This happened to me back in the Windows 7 beta and it was only (partially) solved when I formatted and did a clean install of the retail version. Now that it is happening again I'm just like "screw it - format now and not waste 2 months trying to fix it.Issue seems to be: Can't update GFX drivers (Tried Driver Sweeper etc. Doesn't make a difference)Can't launch a good deal of my games (most of them the affected ones use OpenGL If I could fix that, it would save me formatting but last time I scoured the internet far and wide to try and fix it to no avail."But", you say, "just format and be done with it!"The install begins fine, it extracts all the files and gets to the first reboot. After about 3-5 mins of it progressing through the final stages of the install the screen goes blank and nothing happens (HDD and disk drive both idle even after 30 mins). Presumable its installing the graphics card driver.I had this same problem last time (From beta to retail) and I did find a solution which I can't remember exactly.I was certain it was from these forums (Which is why I'm posting here) but after a good search of these forums and the rest of the general internet I couldn't find the same instructions. Incase it rings any bells with anyone, it involved something like so:Do the first stage of the install At the first reboot enter safe mode Shift+F10 to open command prompt Open device manager and remove graphics card driver (or disable card)Reboot and continue install The only problem I ran into this time is that it wasn't loading into safe mode (it got up to loading disk.sys, the second last file it normally loads, and stops there) unless I first continue the install up to the point where where the screen goes blank, but then after I disable the card and boot normally to continue the install it says it encountered an error and makes me start it over?tl;dr: Can't update/install graphics card drivers normally or during during Windows 7 install.

On going back to previous updates, I realized, that none of the updates had installed. I immediately checked to make sure the office setup exe file was enabled, and it was. I went to uninstall a program, and it failed. tried to install a program and it failed. Did windows updates, selected about 10 or so, most installed ok, but three failed. I created a new administrator-level account [the system has only had one in its history, the main/only I have ever used], tried to logon for the first time, and it failed.This system is on a LAN [wifi bridged AP] and is a Homegroup owner, but it is not on a Domain.

Ran Windows Update on wife's computer today (Biostar A75-MH mobo, AMD A8-3850, 8Gb DDR3-1600, 64Gb Samsung 830 SSD boot drive, Win7 x64) and upon restart it froze at 35% installing the updates. After it did nothing for 30 min I rebooted. It boots to the desktop but with an error box saying failed to load sortbls.nlp. Explorer isn't working, can run any programs, Start menu won't come up, just sits with the blue circle spinning. Tried to run system restore but the 11-15 one disappeared from the list when I tried to run it and now just shows the only restore point as Windows Update Critical Update from today which fails. Startup Repair says no problems.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had problems with failed Windows Updates for the past 3 months or so. I tried the windows update troubleshooter and it did not work. I tried to perform a clean boot and install the updates, it also did not work. I was able to successfully install a few updates to the .NET Framework by completely uninstalling it and then re-installing it (and double checking that it installed properly). At the moment I have 17 updates that fail to install and they pretty much all deal with microsoft office 2010. The only two not related to microsoft office are:

Update for Windows 7 (KB2547666)
I don't know what else to do. I currently have Windows 7 Professional x64. I bought the computer in March of this year and have not made any major changes. The only updates I have are from Windows Updates and the last time they successfully installed (besides the .NET Framework I just fixed) was 21/10/11 and it was a hotfix for windows (KB2482122) problems really started around 19/07/2011 (more than a few updates failed).
I am running Win.7 64 bit Home Prem. Those updates won't install. I have tried to download from the net and they still wouldn't install. I even tried The Fixit link.I tried to reload Net Framework 4 but I couldn't. It wouldn't uninstall or repair.

When it asks me where i want to install Windows, i click next and it tells me:"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [Primary IDE Channel]. Click 'load driver' and select the required device driver."It doesn't find anything when I click 'load driver'. When I look in Device Manager it says the Primary IDE Channel driver is working properly. I am not sure what a Primary IDE Channel even is, so I am at a complete loss here.Computer is an Insignia d300a, a second internal hard drive is installed,and I have been unable to locate the startup disk that came with the computer. I am not sure what other information is relevant, but let me know if you need more information.All the data on the computer is saved, I just want to get Windows 7 on it...if there is no way to update that driver, is there a way I can format the hard drive and install Windows from the disk, or will it still give me problems because of the IDE Channel thing?

just build game rig , got genuine Windows 7 home premium , load on ssd-60gb all ok then, installation stops-loops at 70% , led from ssd in pernament- something is wrong.Find out that need to disconnect all usb ports,ect. downgrade ram, so done that , now what to reinstall Windows 7 - instalation disk can't see any drive , so BIOS - no ssd? ran install disk again . go to repair, choose cmdr- it is there under x:boot lol never seen that before. View 16 Replies View RelatedI tried to boot in safe mode, it got stuck in mid boot. I tried to boot it with system repair, it said it was loading files and then it got stuck on a screen that said copyright Microsoft Corporation and had a green loading bar. My husband's laptop is exactly the same as mine, so I used it to create a system repair cd. I set the laptop up to boot from cd and tried it, but I got the same thing with it sticking on the green loading bar. I ran a diagnostics on my computer and everything passed except a hard drive test in which I got the error 2000-0146. I checked that error on the dell support website and it told me to take the hard drive out and plug it back in. I have not done this yet as the instructions to do so required me to disassemble the whole computer just to get at the hard drive. After some online research, I created a Knoppix (Linux based os) 6.7 boot cd and booted from the cd drive. This worked beautifully and I am now in the process of transferring all my important data from the hard drive to an external hard drive.
So here are my questions. Everything I read about error 2000-0146 says it's a hard drive failure but if that were the case, why does the hard drive seem to work fine when accessed from a Linux OS? Also, how would disconnecting and reconnecting the hard drive fix the problem? I really don't want to take it apart if I don't have too. Could the windows boot files somehow be corrupted causing it not to boot, and if so could I access them with Knoppix and replace them with good files
my brother's hdd in his laptop was going bad, it kept failing to boot. so i replaced it with another one. when i turned the laptop back on it started installing all the drivers for his hardware (windows was already installed on the 2nd hdd) and prompted me to reboot. after i did windows failed to start several times. i re-installed windows from scratch, and now his graphics card isn't showing up in device manager and windows cant find a driver for the network or ethernet card.

For some reason my USB 3.0 4-port hub is being seen as a USB 2.0 hub. I've tried unplugging the usb 3 cable and rebooting and reattaching the cable to my USB 3.0 Card, but it still sees as a USB 2 hub
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a nice new Gigabyte X79-UP4 motherboard, and it is behaving for the most part, however the USB3 ports are not working. Drivers for the port installed fine (from the disk that came with the motherboard) however it is not recognizing either USB3 or USB2 peripherals.

I did download the newest Fresco Logic drivers from Gigabyte and the package failed on install with the message below -
Even though the installer failed I was able to go through Device Manager & update the drivers, but unfortunately there has been no improvement in functionality - USB3 and USB2 still do not work.
I have tried several installer packages, from different locations, and all have failed!
I put in a SSD drive and now my two USB3 drives don�t work. I hook up the 2 USB3 drives and installed the drivers and one work for a little while but the other wouldn�t work at all. With the other hard drive I had in before that my Windows 7 was on both USB3 drives work just find. I called up Western Digital and you only have a 30 day tech support and can buy one for $14 or send them in. But they work fine until I put in the SSD drive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis new USB3.0 ext HDD seems to be in an almost constant state of Windows thinking it is unplugged, then just plugged back in, back and forth. I had to shut autoplay on it off because it would happen at least once a minute, sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes a couple minutes. The drive and case are brand new, but this is just like what was happening with my old drive via eSATA. I thought something was just wrong with the drive or my eSATA port, but now this. I know the USB3.0 port is fine because I have plugged in flash drives (even a 3.0 one) and connected other drives via 2.0 in it, with no problem. As for the eSATA ext HDD at least, this was happening a couple months ago before I wiped my system, and is still happening now. New OS install changed nothing.
These drives show up as known and installed in Device Manager. Disk Management's info is correct. Acronis is the same. Sometimes they just need a coaxing from "Scan for Hardware Changes" to even try to let me do anything. Windows Explorer, though, shows it all on its own, when it does think it's plugged in. (& yes, the plug fits quite snugly into the port, all is fine there.) Also, on my fiance's rig, both drives are also behaving exactly as the should. It's something over here...what could be causing my system to have trouble keeping these external drives onboard?
I recently, well I say recently but it was late 2011 I decided on building a new RIG, the final hardware change was my external HDD which I bought last week and a couple of days ago I connected and copied everything from my old HDD to the new one. It's insanely fast, USB3.0 is really fast. Although, coupled with Buffalo utilities it's even faster.When I restarted my system after configuring everything in the Buffalo utilities I restarted and it was fine everything was working as it should be until I used my PC today and it booted really slow. In fact it was so slow I had to reboot it again and it was even slower than before. I disconnected the HDD and rebooted and it was there in a flash...? Okay, this is odd, I have come across this before with an external HDD but this is the first time that I've encountered a problem with USB3.0.Scratching my head and coatie I pondered on what is potentially causing the problem, I then had a EUREKA moment. The Buffalo utilities use RAMDISK which is basically a virtual HDD which uses RAM. I delayed the boot of Buffalo Utilities and rebooted and it was fine. Whatever is causing the slow boot it's being caused by Buffalo. If I delay the loading of the software it's fine.

Non of the people i have asked seem to know why. i Have 3.5" usb3 2TB that works on both USB3 and USB2, so the only thing i can think of is that the 2.5" draws more power from the USB3 ports thus allowing it to run.
