View 4 Replies View RelatedNot sure what is going on, but 75% of the time when a user logs into any of our machines that have Windows 7 the ports disappear and they can't print. The spooler is running. If I restart it, it seems to fix it, or reboot sometimes it will fix it. I have been fighting this for over 2 months and can't figure it out. I have loaded the latest drivers I can get for the printers. I also turned off the Print services under Windows features. I adjusted the Print and Point info in gpedit.msc. What else am I missing here? This is causing major issues at my work that people are starting to get frustrated. There has to be a fix for this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been having trouble with my usb ports not reading my flash drives. I just did a little test and was shocked to find that my usb ports will run printer and not flash drives? I tried to update the drivers but it says they are up to date. What can cause this? It is 5usb ports 2 in back and three across the front. My system is a Dell Studio XPS Desktop 435T/9000 64 bit windows 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using an HP photosmart 1215 printer w/ HP 7200C driver. Printer is not printing. It was when I first installed it but not from internet. So, I started to fool with it and it quit. Might be the incorrect port because I changed port to USB port the changed it back to LPT! printer port. Now it won't print at all.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was rebuilding my computer bit by bit after my old one died on me. I recently purchased a motherboard/cpu and I used an old harddrive with windows xp on it and my old video card from my previous pc.Everything worked fine, all usb ports were up and running, monitor worked great. Than I went to install Windows 7 on my computer from a usb thumb-drive. Everything went smoothly until I got the the first restart. When the computer turned on again, all fans were turning, hard drive was spinning, and led lights turned on but my monitor went black saying no connection, and none of my usb ports work (no lights on my keyboard or mouse).
My computer specs are:
Motherboard: AsRock 970 Extreme3
CPU: AMD-FX 4100
Graphic Card: Zotac GeForce 9500GT
Ram: 2, 4GB (8GB total) Corsair Vengeance DDR3
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.7
Monitor: Asus VH198T
I have recently downloaded Windows 7 - 32 bit onto a new discrete (i.e. Physically separate) HDD. In the installation process it had severe problems with USB and PCIe drivers. That is they don't work and there were! marks in Device Manager. I was lucky in having access to an old PS2 kybd which allowed me some access to the new os. Luckily, since I was booting off of a Windows XP Home Edition on a separate HDD I managed to use its drivers which worked on the Windows 7 and allowed me to get my USB kyybd and mouse working again. It also automatically down loaded the other drivers for my devices like the USB dongle for wireless internet access.
This is a long preamble to my actual problem and the reason for this message. I have not had as much success when I tried the same exercise; this time with Windows 7 - 64 bit installation. The 64 bit was installed on a separate partition on the same physical drive as the 32 bit version. The 32 bit drivers from Win 7 - 32 bit and XP don't work. I thought the 32 bit drivers for such basic things as USB pointing devices would work in the 64 bit version; but clearly not. Also, clearly my installation disk is negligent in not loading the drivers in either installation. Where can I go to get these basic drivers.
I have tried Logitech with no luck as my kybd/mouse combo doesn't even show up on their site. I have tried going to Microsoft site to get generic 64 bit drivers but they are not being very kind in that regard. There is nothing to download. Clearly they don't want to give anything away free! My Logitech USB kybd/mouse combo is model Y-RK56A for the kybd and M-RR95 for the mouse. My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H and I have its CD but w/o mouse I can't get it to install on the Win 7-64 partition. I thought when it installed on my XP partition it would have installed both sets of drivers. Can I extract just the 64 bit USB drivers from there?
2 days ago, I posted about how my BIOS can't even detect SSD anymore. So we concluded that my SSD was dead. After talking to OCZ tech support, the guy told me to change SATA configuration into ACHI and then my BIOS was able to detect SSD again.
So i thought that the problem was solved, but as soon as windows 7 logo shows up, blue screen pops up for like 0.5 sec, and then restarts the computer. I thought that SSD was working fine, BIOS could detect it, and the only problem is with windows 7 so I decided to put windows 7 disc in dvd drive to format and reinstall. But now, my windows 7 can't detect SSD.
What should I do? Why can't my windows 7 disc detect SSD when my BIOS can. And does this mean my SSD is still alive? [URL]

120GB OCZ SSD

I built this computer about 8 months ago.
I have bought a brand new DELL PRECISION T5600 also bought SANDISK 120 gb extreme SATA 3, 6gbs ssd.Now the problem is when i trying to install WINDOWS 7 ultimate version on this SSD . Then windows installer can't find the SATA 3 ssd. but it is working fine at windows 7 . only problem that windows installer can;t find when i trying install the operating system on this SATA 3 ssd. But windows 8 installer can find SATA 3 SSD, very nicely. windows 8 is okey to find this sata during installation.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had xp for a long time on a custom computer. Recently I contracted a virus (namely the xp antivirus 2012 system virus). I decided to reformat the hard drive, as I do not have the original xp discs, I bought windows 7 (the full version, not upgrade). While trying to install windows 7 and subsequently reformat the hard drive, the installation program can not detect any hard disk whatsoever.
Another problem is that the virus has corrupted my computer to the point where I cannot even load xp. All my computer is currently good for is watching it try to load.
I have a HP pavillion dv-6.I tried installing Windows XP as a secondary OS, but i got a BSOD every time i tried. To be more specific, I get a BSOD once all the setup files are loaded and it says Setup is starting Windows.Ever since then, my laptop no longer boots windows 7 up. It goes to the booting screen and the cursor keeps blinking, but thats it.I think the reason behind this is because xp uses boot.ini, but 7 doesnt, and if the setup files were copied onto the hard-drive, and so was a boot.ini file, it doesnt detect xp or 7.What should i do? And i was also wondering whether I can use a Hiren's disk to added Windows 7 to the boot manager, something like EasyBCD.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had my 8600 working fine but I had to update drivers. So I uninstalled the current driver because I couldnt update. Now My comp wont even recognize the hardware so I am stuck in 800 x 600 and in device manager it says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and it wont detect my 8600m gt.
Ive downloaded the most current drivers from NVIDIA but it says no compatibel hardware was found and it cannot install. So I went into it manually and went: Update Driver Software -> Browse my comp -> let me pick from a list of device drivers on my comp (now here it only shows the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapeter") ->Have disk -> DISPLAY.DRIVER folder -> then it shows me a huge list of all available dirivers. the problem is there are at least 30 different 8600m gt ones to choose from. I tried a few and it said "The driver slected for this device does not support this version of windows"
I'm really stuck. When I go to install windows 7 the install gets to install now and when I click it the next screen shows no hard drive,
View 8 Replies View RelatedI never thought ill be having a problem with installing windows. My old motherboard has died on me and i have replaced it with a new M3A79-T deluxe without changing my already installed windows 7 64. Everything worked fine if a little slow so I decided to frag everything and do a clean install but the installation kept freezing at expanding files. Following other forums i tried dban but it finished in about 2 seconds with errors. which made me think there is a problem with the hd. So then i installed Linux mint so i can use at least something in the mean time, it worked without a problem ruling out a faulty hard drive, I went back to trying to install win7. This time i wasn't even able to proceed from the partition menu as it kept complaining that windows cannot install onto this partition due to 0x80300001 error. I noticed that no partition was marked as the primary partition.I got around this by creating new partitions in the Linux installer then exiting and reformatting the partitions in windows installer (assuming this turns it into NTFS format) I was able to proceed into the installation but again got stuck at the same place with expanding files with error 0x8007045d after a few hours just like before.
Also i never installed drivers in windows installation but when i try to install sata drivers either from mobo cd or mobo website the installer doesn't recognize them, iv tried taking everything out but 1 ram stick, installing new BIOS, reseting CMOS, playing around with partitions, installing from different dvds I'm getting close to throwing this thing out of the window and getting a mac book.
I've had a sudden loss of my hard drive space. I've deleted alot of stuff, like over 20GB, more then just a few times and it just disappeared in less then 2 days. I've read some topics here with the about same problem and tried what they sugested there: to use software like WinDirStat, TreeSize Free and SpaceSniffer. But they just won't show me my whole hard drive. The stop at 50% and show it as if they have scan the whole 100%.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMe and my fiance just finished putting together her first real gaming computer and we wanted to use a Patriot 64g SSD to put win 7 on and use a 1TB Seagate drive for all the rest of the storage. The installation of Win 7 onto the SSD went nice and smooth but when we get into windows it is not detecting the 1TB HD at all. Funny thing is that when I go in to the SSD properties, I can see the Seagate under the sharing options. The only info I have found is how to clone off an existing hard drive with Win 7 on it not how to do a fresh install on 2 new drives.

Clean install of Windows reveals an error not detecting any drives, does not allow partitioning or formatting. BIOS identifies the drives.I've attempted installs of updated drivers from the motherboard's website (as well as the CD that came with the motherboard). WD claims not to have any drivers on their website. Still nothing.
I have just installed Windows 7 onto my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. My laptop now detects a number of wireless networks in the vicinity but not my own. It is not a problem with my router because other laptops can pick up the connection no problem. I have Googled this problem and see a lot on issues with Windows 7 and picking up wireless signals. But I haven't seen any threads which deal specifically with the situation where only one wireless network cannot be detected.

Included in the installation disk will be several ninite installers that will install the latest versions of programs needed for my department. After windows 7 installs and activates, when the user logs onto the computer he/she needs to be prompted with options to install either Essential List of Programs Suggested List of Programs Complete List of Programs Choosing any of the three options will run Ninite Installer associated with the option. For now the prompt will be implemented as a simple VBScript. I've managed to get the unattended activation and installation step working, but I'm stuck on the prompting step. Does anyone know any way to configure the installation CD to run a script as soon as the user logs onto the computer? In case you're wondering, I'm using VLite to help create the installation CD.
