Transaction Support Within Specified Resource Manager Is Not Started
Jul 31, 2012
I simply want to change the backup schedule, but I get this error message instead:"Transaction support within the specified resource manager is not started or was shut down due to an error 0x80071A91."Immediately before this message began appearing, I ran a manual file backup (including a system image) which apparently completed successfully. Before that, I deleted the previous backups and system image to make room for the new ones. I tried the Windows 7 Help suggestion to reset the File System Resource Manager (command> fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\) but this does not help. The computer is a Gateway DX 4822 with a Intel® Core â„¢ 2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66 GHz 2.67 GHz with a 64 bit OS running Windows 7 Home Premium,
I am installing more RAM in my system, and want to monitor the page file for improvement/reduction in size and use. Other than performance monitor, can I see the page file in either task manager or resource monitor?
[code] On checking my event log after some slow response, I noticed that I am getting: Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.Reason : Graphics subsystem resources are over utilised.I am using Windows recommended settings. Mozilla on the main screen and outlook express on the slave screen.Ran the usual clear temp files and ran malwarebyes and superantispyware scans.I am not playing any games or music, just browsing one website (secure) and outlook express, why am I getting resource contention on the Desktop Window Manager?
I booted my computer today, but when I click any program in my taskbar, or int the start menu, they dont open. In the task manager they are there, but their working set is only 40-90K. Some programs can be started from file->new process, with run as administrator checked, but I cant see any pattern to which will start. If a process doesnt start from task manager, it freezes task manager, and I need to open another the end it. If I start a program pinned to my taskbar nothing will happen: The icon will get the running program rectangle around it, then it will fade away. If I right click a program in the start menu, the start menu and taskbar freeze, and I need to restart them from the task manager. I can run cmd from task manager. Ive rebooted multiple times, defragmented the disk(that fixed it last time this happened, but it may have been a cooincidence), run chkdsk, but nothing works. To make it wierder, if I press the hotkeys on my keyboard (browser, mail, etc), the program will start up fine, even if it cant be launched from task manager(firefox)
EDIT: While I was typing this I was running sfc /scannow , and that fixed it, but Id still like to know why. This is the second time this has happened, and both times its taken me most of the day to fix it, and both time different things fixed it
Ive got a problem with my aero, It turns off after a couple of seconds on power up.Getting a massage that Desktop Window Manager is disabled, while its started in services. Event viewer shows error message : (0x88980406).
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 17R laptop. Inside the program "Dell Support Center" it tells me that BITS - Demand Started to Auto Started. I don't know what BITS is. It runs in the System Services. Should I disable the BITS?
I just bought a new ASUS computer with Windows 7. I have a Macbook Pro and would like to transfer my photos and music onto my new computer. I have 2 external hard drives that work perfectly fine on my mac as well as other PCs. When I plug either of my external hard drives in they are recognized in device manager and say they are working properly but are not recognized in disk manager or under my computer...
I keep putting the drive offline because im wary of having it always active. It may have something to do with avast antivirus because thats the image thats listed next to the files in those drives. I checked with avast and it doesnt appear to be running any scans and theres no way I can find to have it skip that drive. Also when I put the drive back online the activity is at 0 but eventually goes back to 100% and I can hear the drive activity.
I've been unable to diagnose an error I've been receiving when I try to open programs (Error 170 "The Requested Resource is in Use"). I've googled the problem and although it appears to be a fairly common error, almost every site I've been to seems to think that I have some kind of removable storage hooked up, which I don't. This is happening whenever I try to open a program whether it be Advanced SystemCare or System Restore. Further more, I'm unable to manage several tasks in Windows, such as creating user accounts. My anti-virus has come up clean, so I'm at a loss.
message on my laptop "InternetExplorernot working problem found" "Your computor appears to be configured but the device or resourse [asus.msn.com]is not responding" what does it mean?
[pc name] not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.Lately we have had problems with all Windows XP pcs not being able to access all the shared folders on one Windows 7 pc on the lan.It is intermittent. I cannot think of what has changed recently. It is temporarily fixed by a reboot of the Win7 pc, but since it is a server in an office environment, this can be difficult to do middle of the day.Turning firewall software off on host and client has no effect.Network sharing profiles are never changed as issue comes and goes.Unsharing a folder, and resharing it has no effect. The Win7 pc does show up as a networked computer and all are in the same workgroup. All Windows 7 pcs on the lan can access the shared folders when all the XP pcs cannot.Another Win7 pc on the lan is nearly an identical hardware build with same firewall and never has a problem.
Network sharing options for current profile:

Every so often, as in every other boot or every three startups, or as today would have it every single time I boot up until I get fed up enough to come here, my CPU frequency is peaked out at an invariable 100% and my RAM usage steadily climbs from where it starts around 900MB-1GB until it too is maxed, and that is where my system crashes (to better define crash, black screen for a few seconds, and then it powers off instantly). I have attached a screenshot for reference.I have analyzed my resource monitor to watch this unfold many-a-time, and the process that is eating RAM is non-other than svchost. My CPU is getting killed by dwm. I can end and restart the latter but srvhost or svchost or whatever it is, is a system process. Not that the first one proved effective, but dammit ill get this machine to do what its told one way or another.T
Got my new TP-Link router up and running all is well, my spare rig in ther conservatory is connecting to the net fine and it is accessing my main rig but I can not connect to it from my main rig I have done everything I can think of.All open/owned/shared with everyone, so yes all permissions are ok.stopped firewalls still the same. I just got Windows 7 Pro 64-bit a couple weeks ago and it's been terrific so far. However, there's one thing that has annoyed me quite a bit that I can't seem to figure out. When I look at the Resource Monitor, I'm told that I have 18+ GB of installed memory on my computer. This is obviously not correct, however, since I only have two 2GB sticks of DDR2 installed. Here are some pics showing the issue:I have no clue why Windows is saying that there's 14 GB of hardware reserved memory. Seems to be a faulty reading of some kind, and I'm wondering if there's any way to go about correcting this or finding out the root of the problem. If I can't get it fixed, it's not a big deal since my performance is terrific. Just something that bugs me a little and I'd like to know what's causing the incorrect reading
Things I've already tried: Refreshing the folder view Re-opening the "Open iTunes library" window Restarting iTunes altogether Typing \VBOXSVR in the browse window (result: one of those "network path could not be found" errors)While I was trying to access the resource in iTunes, I had no issues manipulating the network resource through Windows Explorer.
I have this weird problem with my laptop - i cant browse the internet, nor use any programs or games that require internet connection, however my network its still receiving and sending packages AND i CAN chat and receive/send files with skype . After diagnostic trows the "Can't communicate with Primary DNS Server" error message.I don't have router nor modem, i use cable directly.
Also my other PC witch has 100% identical network settings( IP, Mac address etc. the only difference is that is Windows XP) connects to internet with no problems whatsoever.Been searching the internet for some way to resolvet the problem all day, so far with no success. If you have any ideas what could be causing the problem please do answer below.
I have two networked computers belonging to the same workgroup: one with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit and the other with Windows XP Pro SP3.On the XP computer, I shared a folder allowing only the access to the Administrators group. Now, from Windows 7, I can see this shared folder, but when I try to use it, the no authorization message is displayed. Why the Login window is not displayed?
I have 2 weird things in a row this morning and I was hoping to get some opinions. I was the last one out of the office last night and the first one in this morning. I come in and my office door is locked. It is never locked and I never lock it. So once in my office I wake my computer and Resource Monitor is running on my PC and I didn't even know this program existed. So I understand Resource Monitor is a common tool that I just never noticed before but is it possible that it started itself?
I just tried to watch a movie on Netflix, and it prompted me to upgrade Microsoft Silverlight. I saved the file to my desktop, and when I tried to open the .exe file, I got this error message from Windows Installer: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
I tried moving the downloaded file to a different location, but it had no effect. I apparently can't play any movie now from Netflix, since I have to update Silverlight before I can play anything.
I HAVE RECENTLY INSTALLED WIN 7 ARC GAMER EDITION. I THINK ITS JUST REBUILT OF ULTIMATE.WHEN I CLICK RESOURCE MONITOR ICON IN TASK MANAGER OR IN START MENU NOTHING POPS UP.
I have been dealing with an issue where I am only able to get on a couple of websites, while every other website will not load. I have checked my auto-config settings and ive reset Internet Explorer. I used Microsoft's tool that tells you what the problem is and it came up with "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection".
So after the change of the WEP encryption key, there is another issue that emerged out of nowhere again. This time it's the DNS server error, and other windows in our house can connect except for me. I can enter the security key this time however the wireless icon indicates a exclamation mark icon overlapping it. I tried using cmd and typed ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew with a reboot afterwards, changed the Internet Protocol Version 4 and 6 on their DNS server address settings, resetting the router and configuring the network adapter but it doesn't work.
Although, the windows 7 can sense the internet and connect it but the result came up "DNS server error" and "DNS cannot communicate with the resource error". I currently don't hold the real password for the router, however I managed to retrieved the old WEP password for the router. My cousin has the password, whenever he types the password now which I don't know at this stage doesn't work (Security Key Mismatch) and when I secretly tried the old password, it worked but with an exclamation mark on the wireless icon.
I'm trying to get Network Discovery to stay on, but it always reverts to off. In trying to activate the UPnP service for this but get the error message 1079..the account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. This may be what's preventing Network Discover from being activated.
I am using hotel wifi network and was able to use it quite nicely. But suddenly my network started showing "No Internet Access" though it was connected. Diagnostics gives an error "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS Server) is not responding." I am still able to connect to same wifi properly with my other laptop.
My internet was fine when I went to sleep last night but when I got up today it was giving me the yellow exclamation error. According to my internet provider, Comcast, they can ping the modem and everything, it just won't connect to the internet. The diagnostic is telling me " Windows cannot communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)". We've tried restarting the modem, the computer, etc. She had me go in and look at my network settings and they're fine. She even deactivated the modem on the phone and nothing.I have a desktop with windows 7. I do NOT have a router. The internet goes from the wall, to the modem, to my computer.
Whenever I insert my Windows 7 setup disk, and boot from it, and I choose Repair your Windows, the following error message appears, and of course I can't use the recovery tools: "The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI Entry" What's the cause of this? I have Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows xp pro @ Dual Boot, but that has nothing to do with it, because when I try this on a virtual machine, the same message appears, and recovery tools are not working. I'm looking forward to a solution if there is one.
Anyway, my computer's been having some ridiculously slow internet speeds for the past few days and whenever I do a troubleshoot, it states that the 'device or resource (DNS server) is not responding'. I've tried every possible solution I read online and I'm still experiencing this problem.
