Resource Loader Cache Doesn't Have Loaded MUI Entry

Aug 15, 2010

Whenever I insert my Windows 7 setup disk, and boot from it, and I choose Repair your Windows, the following error message appears, and of course I can't use the recovery tools: "The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI Entry" What's the cause of this? I have Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows xp pro @ Dual Boot, but that has nothing to do with it, because when I try this on a virtual machine, the same message appears, and recovery tools are not working. I'm looking forward to a solution if there is one.

Black Screen After Boot Loader, Pressing F8 Doesn't Do Anything

Jul 25, 2012

I have a Windows 7 Pro x64 which has been running for a many months without any issues.Three days ago I restarted the machine and Windows 7 didn't start anymore. I have spent a lot of time investigating it and could not find anything wrong with the boot loader or the file system where the OS is.So the boot loader works, I have also replaced it just in case but nothing changed. I can go into the boot loader menu and chose the Windows 7 entry but then the black screen which says "Starting Windows" comes and nothing else happens.Note that the computer doesn't hang, it simply gets stuck at some point and doesn't do anything else. The HDD LED stays on from this point forward and that is it, if I press ctrl+alt+del it restarts and if it were completely frozen it wouldn't.

This Windows 7 runs on a pair of drives in RADI1 so it cannot be a problem with the drives. I have run checks just to be sure and couldn't find anything, no file system issues or bad blocks. The raid controller is not reporting any issues with the drives.I have booted with the windows install cd and tried to repair it many times but the auto repair says it could not repair it, other times it tells me that no issue was found. The boot manager is working fine, I have replaced it just in case using bootrec /fixmbr and /fixboot and also bootsect /nt60 all.I have checked for corrupt files with sfc and no files were corrupt, at least no critical system files.I have manually replaced the winload.exe file but this didn't help either. The problem seems to be at the stage where the boot manager passes control to winload.exe.

Windows 7 Boot Manager Default Entry Doesn't Work

May 30, 2012

When I start up Windows, I have two options, "Windows 7" and "Windows 7 Home Premium (Recovered)", and only the second one works. This is annoying because it defaults to the first entry. Some background info: I added a second hard drive to my laptop, and I used an Ubuntu install disc to move Windows 7 to the second hard drive and install Ubuntu to the first (larger) hard drive. When I start up my computer, the Grub boot loader gives me an option between Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7.When I first tried to boot into Windows, it had problems (caused by finding itself on a new drive I assume) and attempted to do startup repair which didn't change anything. It had detected a Windows 7 installed on drive "E", attempted repair, but on reboot I got to the same place. Next I used the Windows 7 Repair disc that I had burned earlier, which appeared to do the exact same process of attempting startup repair, however this time when I rebooted I got the option between "Windows 7" and "Windows 7 Home Premium (Recovered)". The first option causes it to do what it did before, and the second option gets me into Windows 7 fine. Windows still sees its hard drive as "C" which is good. While looking for solutions to this, I found the bcdedit utility. I attempted to rename "Windows 7 Home Premium (Recovered)" to just "Windows 7 Home Premium" to test whether it changed anything, but when I boot up I still get "Windows 7" and "Windows 7 Home Premium (Recovered)". I don't even know where the "Windows 7" entry comes from.

Here's the output of `bcdedit /v`:

Code: Windows Boot Manager
--------------------
identifier {9dea862c-5cdd-4e70-acc1-f32b344d4795}
device partition=C:
path ootmgr
description Windows Boot Manager
locale en-US
default {74e62c05-aa3f-11e1-90f0-e412b6135969}

Stopping W7's RAM Cache

Nov 8, 2009

I'm doing some audio work, editing drums, which involves taking a few audio files (7 or 8) and splitting them into hundreds, one for each drum beat.

My problem is that when I do this, my computer completely locks up. I've noticed that as soon as I do this, Windows 7's RAM Cache jumps up to 1.7gb. And I've only got 2gb of RAM, so it leaves only 300mb for my audio program to run, and I think this is the problem.

Is there a way to temporarily or permanently disable Windows 7's ability to cache your RAM? Because it doesn't seem to be disabling when I want it to.

I'm running the Windows 7 RC Build 7100 atm, with an Intel Core2Duo (2ghz) and 2GB of ram.

Install went fine, I formatted the new partition to ntfs, but now my PC will only boot up XP. The OS loader never comes up & when I pull up my system properties in XP control panel, it doesn't show any other OS in the dual boot dropdown box.

I can't find this as I dunno how to explain it for googling. unless I get irrelevant answers! When I clear my browser (IE9) cache, cookies etc, whether via ccleaner or the delete browsing history general tab, I get an annoying voice telling me "how to clear cache, then cookies etc" whenever I open a new window or most new tabs for a sometime afterwards, eventually it stops occuring, obviously fed up with me hitting the mute button, I've checked the audio settings in the ease of access center in control panel, all off & ok, the voice is different anyway.

Network Cache Problem

Aug 12, 2009

Not sure how best to describe the problem so if my wording is inaccurate I apologise.

I was sharing an ext usb drive on an XP machine, but have now moved it to my main win 7 machine.

However, when I go into network and look at the old XP machine it still shows the "Share" but obviously the drive is no longer there.

How do I remove these "rogue/ghost" entries?

Boot Loader Is Missing

May 1, 2011

I have two harddrives in my computer, one is 750GB and just has a bunch of different files from my older computer (documents, movies, etc, but no traces operating system). My other harddrive is 1TB and has Windows 7 on it (which I'm typing from now). For some reason (I think after I installed a Windows Update), when I restart the computer it says, "Bootmgr is missing. Press CTR+ALT+DEL to restart". Before, this had never happened, so I figured out that I had to manually go into my HP boot menu (by pressing ESC when I first start the computer) and then choose my 1TB harddrive to boot into Windows 7. This is kind of a pain.

Lost Boot Loader / Bcd Entirely?

Jul 6, 2010

I've routinely dual booted Linux and Windows over the years, but yesterday I hit a bit of a snag. I had Windows 7 and Vista both installed on a single hard disk. Since it had been awhile since I had booted Vista I decided to delete the partition and install Linux there. What I did not realize is that when I installed 7 it left the BCD on the Vista partition. So, when I installed Linux I effectively blew away my Windows boot loader.I've tried a hundred things at this point without much luck, including the "nuclear holocaust" / manual rebuild of BCD from:Recovering the Vista Bootloader from the DVD - NeoSmart Technologies WikiA few questions / thoughts from my google searches:* Is there anything needed in /boot other than the BCD?

* I am wondering if the "active" / "boot" partition flag is causing me trouble. hen I was trying to rebuild the BCD manually using bcdedit i was getting errors that the partition was not flagged active. I tried to use diskpart to flag it active but it said that the partition type was not valid for the active flag? I was able to set it active using the Linux gparted partition manager, but I can't understand why diskpart would not flag it.* Is it possible to have your oot on a different partition then Windows? The recovery console is mapping C: to my "applications" drive and D: to my "system" drive which contains Windows. I was wondering if I need to put oot on C: instead of D:

OS Loader Not Found After Installing OS?

Dec 25, 2011

HP Mini With Cache Manager BSOD?

May 21, 2011

I have here an HP Mini 210-1199DX belonging to a friend

Processor: Intel Atom CPU N455 @ 1.66GHz
1024 MB RAM
Running Windows 7 Startup

It's just a few months old and has barely been used in that time, but since it's not my laptop I don't know its history. Knowing the owner though, I don't imagine she ever did more than some browsing and text editing with it.My friend's laptop gets a blue screen when starting up, which says CACHE_MANAGER, STOP: 0x00000034 (0x00000107, 0xc0000420, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)It does this when the loading bar for Windows appears on screen, without fail. There is absolutely no way I can get windows to boot. Not in safe mode or with startup repair or anything else. After looking around a bit, I gathered that this BSOD pointed to insufficient memory, failing memory, failing hard drive, bad device drivers or something starting up in windows.I had a look at the BIOS (InsydeH2O version F.22), which offers barely any options except for a memory test and a hard drive test and both passed fine. Startup options also has an HP diagnostics menu which offers a memory and hard disk test and they passed. I don't know if this means anything good.. (the diagnostics menu also has what it calls a "run-in" and a start up test which does a mem test, a short DST and a more extensive DST. I'm not entirely sure what this or if it has anything to do with it but every time it finished the long one it would revert back to testing the short one and this would continue indefinitely in this cycle. I don't know if this is relevant at all though)I'm just not sure what to do next. If it is something in Windows, I can't get into Windows in any way so that doen't seem like an option. Since the HP Mini is completely closed, there is no way to easily open it up and replace/add memory should that be necessary. Is it any use trying a Windows 7 recovery disc (it'd have to be usb, no cd drive)? I don't have one at hand so I thought I'd ask before getting one.

I cleared the existing cache, rebooted, and when i load directories with pictures in them, the .db file(s) are still being generated.I do not wish to disable the display of thumbnails in Windows Explorer...I realize this is the easiest method of ensuring they are not generated in the .db. However there must be a way to prevent windows from doing so.
