My sister sends me jpeg photos from her phone as attachments in gmail. In the email, the preview pic looks normal. When I click View, the pic is enlarged, but flipped 90 degrees. If I download the pic, it's flipped 90 degrees. If I open the pic in windows live photo gallery, I can rotate it, but will get a bunch of pop up error messages saying This photo cannot be saved because of a problem with the photo's file properties. Then it says there's a problem with windows live photo gallery and shuts down. This pic flipping in gmail started about a week ago. Previously her pics displayed correctly. She says she's doing nothing out of the ordinary. I just tried loading the photo into MsPaint. I was able to rotate it and save it.
I'm on a brand new HP computer running Windows 7 and everytime I download a file from the internet or even save files from local programs to my desktop, they are saved as some sort of hidden file...or at least they behave similar to hidden files. The difference is if I open up an Explorer window and browse to my desktop, I can see them there that way, but there is no icon on my desktop for the file. I CAN see the the saved file on my desktop if I turn "view hidden files" on...but when I look at the properties of said files, they are not actually marked "hidden." I can even copy/paste that same file in my desktop and I will see the copied file show up visually on the desktop, but still not the original file unless I browse to the desktop in an Explorer window. When right clicking the desktop, "Show desktop icons" is turned on and I can view all of my other desktop file icons, shortcuts, etc.
Is there any photo editing software comparable to the old Adobe PhotoDeluxe. I have tried Gimp, Picasso and paid for other versions of Adobe. None are as user friendly and have the editing tools that PhotoDeluxe had.
Explorer won't update thumbnails after I alter a photo, for example by rotating sideways photos (that is, permanently rotating, using a photo editor program), or by cropping.
How do I get the thumbnails to update?
This is happening for all photos (not just certain ones).
I have tried:
- View > Refresh
- Copying the photos to a new folder and renaming them. Even if a photo has been drastically cropped, the thumbnail is still showing the original, whole one - that is, it's showing parts of the file that DON'T EVEN EXIST
- Entirely disabling the thumbnail cache: Group Policy Editor > 'Turn off caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files'. This *must* force Windows to redraw the thumbnail - but it doesn't!
- Restarting computer after each of the above steps
Win 7 Pro, 64 bit. Photos are jpegs from a new digital camera.
my win 7 photo viewer does the weirdest thing!! when i view my photos and rotate them and close the viewer, they disappear from my folder where they were originally stored in. i've checked my deleted items. no luck. searched whole pc for edited files and names of files that disappeared. no luck there either. i tested it on my hubby's pc. exact same result there.
Many websites that I used to be able to "click" on are now asking for name/email and password. What happened and how do I fix that. I went to Internet Options/tools and the link to content (user names and passwords is checked) and still have the same problem.
Whenever I save a file to my desktop, I have to go into the folder options for the desktop and select to view all hidden files. The files I save, when I check their properties, are no longer hidden. I have to go through this process ANY time I save a file to my desktop, no matter the file type.
trying to make some basic changes to the screen personalization but they wont stick. I'm in administrator mode, by the way. Every time I log back in, they revert. In particular, Im trying to change the way a slideshow is displayed. I go to Desktop Background and change Position to Fit. I Save Changes and all seems to be well. I also save the desktop theme under My Themes. But when I log back in it goes back to Stretch. Am I missing some kind of permissions thing? Or do I just not understand how desktop themes get saved?
i want to turn-off saved searches in windows 7 home premuim 64 bit ive goggled and came up with thiselete or Disable Recent Search Entries History in Windows 7 (Explorer) Search Box y Digital Life
I am having problems when I try and apply my Printer to be shared in windows 7 I get error message saying that printer settings could not be saved. 0x000006d9. I have reinstalled the drivers and rebooted the pc and I am logged on as an Admin but it still wont work.
Who know the where the partition names info saved on? in Registry or Disk? for example change the name from "Local Disk" to "My Disk", why sometimes the name cannot be changed in Explorer?
When I save a file to my C drive, (like a Jpg for example) then go into my C drive to view it, the file isn't there. But when I am saving another file, I can see the first file in the C drive, only in the "Save Window", not when I go to the drive itself.
Example; Let's say my SSID is ABCD. If something happens and I have to re enter my password for some reason, it will show up as ABCD2. How do you delete your old SSID's?
when I opened Microsoft office this morning to finish my resume. The box came up asking me if I wanted to replace and save. Not thinking I hit replace. Now my document is gone because I replaced it with a blank page. I have performed all the searches such as wbk, tmp, autorecovery.
I have a saved password to enter my godaddy.com website. I have now changed that password, but it still wants to remember it when I enter my user ID. How can I delete this saved password and save the new one?
I am running a report that calculates a percentage, and in order to do this I have to change the regional currency decimal settings to 3. (It is normally 2). When I make this change, it saves and the report runs fine. But after I log off then log back on, the setting reverts back to 2. I am part of a domain but there is nothing in group policy that affects regional settings. My XP system, which is also part of the domain, is able to keep the setting. Is there any reason why it won't keep this setting? It keeps it until I log off the system.
I have just finished my very first computer build and am rather happy with most things.Unfortunately I am having problems connecting to the internet.I have a temporary dongle in place and because it's my only option for about a month I kinda need it to work. When I first connected it I found my connection and I successfully connected, I downloaded Google Chrome and Steam, then unfortunately it randomly stopped working.Where the strength bar should of been, there was a large red cross, when I found my connection it read "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".
If you are using IE9 and are trying to save a download, you've probably noticed that your not given a choice where the file will be saved to. It is automatically saved to a specific file. When I want to save a download, I prefer to save it to the desktop. Is it possible to change this setting so I can save a d/l to where ever I choose?
I have saved several passwords in Windows 7 (specifically: passwords for webdav drives and a SharePoint site which I connect to using SharePoint Workspace and Outlook's calendar). Now every time I want to use these services an authentication prompt pops up, already filled in with the correct information. Isn't there a way to completely automate this, without me having to verify every time, i.e. can't Windows just use the saved credentials without bringing up that annoying authentication
So I booted into my other hard drives win 7 pro installation. Then I saved that system image onto my hard drive where the new windows 7 pro install is. After booting into the new windows install, then rebooting and going through the wizard and using the backed up image from the old windows 7 pro install it appears as if nothing is installed, no programs, drivers, themes, visuals etc. It's as if I didn't do anything at all.
I don`t know how, but something made all my tab groups and current tabs completely disappear. They don`t even show up as closed, so I can`t restore them from the closed tabs function. Would the tabs have been stored anywhere for me to retrieve them? I really need them back!! (I had 100+ !!! )
I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. I have recently started playing Governor of Poker, (the full version). However, although my game saves while the PC is on, as soon as I switch off the saved game is lost, (very annoying if you have completed 3 or 4 levels and have to start again). The other problem is that I can't find the saved game folder. It is not in the usual places ie appdata or programdata on the C drive.
Sometimes when a file is saved to the Desktop on which some icons have already existed, the icon of the saved file is inserted between the last system icon (My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc) and the first ordinary icon.Is there a way to make the icon of a newly saved file always automaticaly placed after all the other existing icons, so that I don't have to drag it manually?
chkdsk ran on a FAT32 SD card. It recovered two directories and several files which it put into files. How can I recover them?
The two directories it saved are in files with the same name as the directories used to be (i.e., "Masterpiece_Mystery_Zen_Ratking_720p_20110731_TTL", "Phantom"). Directory Phantom had several subdirectories.
The files saved are named FILE0000.CHK, FILE0001.CHK, ... FILE0045.CHK. They were all put into a directory called FOUND.000.
As of late I am experiencing a strange loss of Bios setting when I either warm boot or cold boot. Examples as follows: When restarting either from a warm restart or cold restart, I will hear 3 beeps which I believe is a memory related error, correct me if I am wrong. I do know if settings go back to default range the voltage is less than what is needed to successfully boot with OC settings enabled.I have also noticed that I sometimes do loose all of the bios settings under many different conditions, regardless of how and why I had to restart. The one setting that stands out the most is the FSB setting, many times this value is the only value changed; [goes back to default] and needs to be reset. This machine has given me yeoman service since 2008 and has been OC'D at a 50% overclock 60% of the time, the rest of the time it is OC'D at a bit higher rate and stable.I did replace the Battery on the MOBO[P5K-Premium WiFi/AP thinking this might possibly be the cause. I have found the incident of this happening to be less but values in the BIOS still change however infrequently.
