Dec 29, 2009Where do you remove a saved ad hoc network, i wish to delete one that i created.
However i cannot seem to find a way to delete the ad hoc network i created.

Change WEP Key For Saved Network (or Delete And Reconnect)?
Jul 8, 2012I have a wireless LAN sharing internet through a Mac Book Pro, i have no problems connecting to this with Ubuntu, an android phone, and other Apple products. The only system that i'm having problems with is the windows partition....The network is listed in available connections, but seems to have the wrong WEP key because it fails to connect. However I cannot delete the connection and start again as the network is not listed in 'Manage Wireless Networks'.
I'm stuck!! I cannot scan for updates because even when the notebook is plugged directly into the router it will not connect to the internet. I can just about get onto my neighbours WiFi network, but it is very poor strength and cuts out, so can't really use that. I know the hardware in the computer is fine because the Ubuntu partition works.
Files Saved Or Downloaded To Desktop Are Saved As Hidden?
Oct 11, 2011I'm on a brand new HP computer running Windows 7 and everytime I download a file from the internet or even save files from local programs to my desktop, they are saved as some sort of hidden file...or at least they behave similar to hidden files. The difference is if I open up an Explorer window and browse to my desktop, I can see them there that way, but there is no icon on my desktop for the file. I CAN see the the saved file on my desktop if I turn "view hidden files" on...but when I look at the properties of said files, they are not actually marked "hidden." I can even copy/paste that same file in my desktop and I will see the copied file show up visually on the desktop, but still not the original file unless I browse to the desktop in an Explorer window.When right clicking the desktop, "Show desktop icons" is turned on and I can view all of my other desktop file icons, shortcuts, etc.

On setup I gave the computer a name. e.g. My-PC "my-PC" was part of a homegroup which I thought I had to set up.I already had a network called homenet that I thought this might allow me to join. I removed the home group and all was OK.Under "network" in windows explorer, all XP computers, NAS box, and attched printers showed up, along with the new win7 pc, "My-pc" so all seems to be OK.I did not like "My-PC" as the name of the win 7 computer so I renamed it. e.g. "My-New-PC".I rebooted and when the network list came up, both "My-PC" and "My-New-PC" BOTH showed up in the list, but "My-PC" in not accessible.Since it no longer exists withthat name, how can I remove the name from the network? So to summarizing this I have a renamed computer where the old name AND the new name for the same computer exisits on the network, but the old name is unaccessible and I want to remove it fromthe network(list).

My idiot of a friend "helped" me setup the network without me knowing it, renamed it after himself, and put password protection on it. I want to remove the password and rename the network. I checked all the router settings to make sure that WPA or anything else was active, but the problem persists on my craptop, and the network isn't showing up in the "manage wireless networks" screen.

Mar 22, 2012My sister sends me jpeg photos from her phone as attachments in gmail. In the email, the preview pic looks normal. When I click View, the pic is enlarged, but flipped 90 degrees. If I download the pic, it's flipped 90 degrees. If I open the pic in windows live photo gallery, I can rotate it, but will get a bunch of pop up error messages saying This photo cannot be saved because of a problem with the photo's file properties. Then it says there's a problem with windows live photo gallery and shuts down. This pic flipping in gmail started about a week ago. Previously her pics displayed correctly. She says she's doing nothing out of the ordinary. I just tried loading the photo into MsPaint. I was able to rotate it and save it.

The files I save, when I check their properties, are no longer hidden. I have to go through this process ANY time I save a file to my desktop, no matter the file type.

Desktop Changes Won't Stay Saved?
Feb 6, 2011trying to make some basic changes to the screen personalization but they wont stick. I'm in administrator mode, by the way. Every time I log back in, they revert.In particular, Im trying to change the way a slideshow is displayed. I go to Desktop Background and change Position to Fit. I Save Changes and all seems to be well. I also save the desktop theme under My Themes. But when I log back in it goes back to Stretch. Am I missing some kind of permissions thing? Or do I just not understand how desktop themes get saved?

When I make this change, it saves and the report runs fine.But after I log off then log back on, the setting reverts back to 2. I am part of a domain but there is nothing in group policy that affects regional settings. My XP system, which is also part of the domain, is able to keep the setting. Is there any reason why it won't keep this setting? It keeps it until I log off the system.

Nov 10, 2012I have just finished my very first computer build and am rather happy with most things.Unfortunately I am having problems connecting to the internet.I have a temporary dongle in place and because it's my only option for about a month I kinda need it to work.When I first connected it I found my connection and I successfully connected, I downloaded Google Chrome and Steam, then unfortunately it randomly stopped working.Where the strength bar should of been, there was a large red cross, when I found my connection it read "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".
