Just installed windows 7. On setup I gave the computer a name. e.g. My-PC "my-PC" was part of a homegroup which I thought I had to set up.I already had a network called homenet that I thought this might allow me to join. Instead, homegroup became a new network. I removed the home group and all was OK.Under "network" in windows explorer, all XP computers, NAS box, and attched printers showed up, along with the new win7 pc, "My-pc" so all seems to be OK.I did not like "My-PC" as the name of the win 7 computer so I renamed it. e.g. "My-New-PC".I rebooted and when the network list came up, both "My-PC" and "My-New-PC" BOTH showed up in the list, but "My-PC" in not accessible.Since it no longer exists withthat name, how can I remove the name from the network? So to summarizing this I have a renamed computer where the old name AND the new name for the same computer exisits on the network, but the old name is unaccessible and I want to remove it fromthe network(list).
I have an unknown 3rd PC listed in my Network in Windows 7. I want to remove it. Right-clicking on it only gives me the options: "open in new window" and "Connect with remote desktop connection". I don't know how it got there: I just want to remove this device (PC).
HP, win. 7, IE 9, 1 1/2 T. Every time I update windows, the network icon appears. Windows won't allow it to be removed. I usually restore to former day, but am tired of dealing with it. How does it come off the screen?
I setup a new router, and it works great. However, the first time I connected to the internet through it, I skipped the Network Setup Wizard or whatever it's called. My idiot of a friend "helped" me setup the network without me knowing it, renamed it after himself, and put password protection on it. I want to remove the password and rename the network. I checked all the router settings to make sure that WPA or anything else was active, but the problem persists on my craptop, and the network isn't showing up in the "manage wireless networks" screen.
In windows 7 , i can't disconnect my network mapped path. when i tried to disconnect , it gives an alert "network connection does not exists". even i tried to connect i can't create for the same drive.
I have been tring to set up a vpn connection, and in the process set up three wireless connections and two local network connections I do not want. How can I first delete the unwanted wireless and local connections and then set up the vpn connection?
I'm attempting to fix my aunts computer. She had hardware issues with a wirelessmouse/keyboard and installed a new driver, well she installed a 64 bit driver on a 32 bit computer. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this issue. The computer wont start i've tried a system restore multiple times and that wont work, I cant even get into safemod
Ok this is my problum I have Win 7 installed , I installed visual j# for a game and it made my PC go wack and shut down ! and now it won't start...what I was wondering is if I could remove visual j# with command prompt ?
I want to download a firmware update to a bluetooth device that is attached by a mini USB to USB connection into my laptop. However, it keeps showing as a windows 7 generic bluetooth driver and this will not work with my device. I tried uninstalling the driver but as soon as I plug my bluetooth device in it reloads the windows 7 generic bluetooth driver. I have loaded on my laptop the bluetooth driver I need to use but cannot never load it fast enough before the generic driver is found.
my laptop is hp pavilion g6 notebook pc >> my problem is with the ethernet controller driver and the network contoller driver >> after i had install a windows 64 bit i couldn't find these drivers.
A few days ago I did a clean install of Windows 7. Now I have a problem. The computer is a wireless 'client'. It has a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).
When I bring up Device Manager and expand 'Network adapters' I see "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller".
When I expand 'Other devices' I see "! Network Controller" (Note the exclamation point.) Double click on that and I see "The driver for this device is not installed. (Code 28). When I click on Update driver I get a message Can't find a driver. I have tried many times with different source folders and files and nowhere is a driver found.
I have gone to MSIs driver web page and downloaded the Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Driver for Windows 7 32/64 bit "realtek_pcielan_7_nb.zip", extracted the files and still no joy. (M/B is MSI G41M with Intel E7400)
There is a wireless icon in the tray. I click 'Open network and sharing center". No matter what I choose Windows 7 ends up telling me to plug in an Ethernet cable. No, this is a client not the server. I have verified that the NIC can connect to the computer with the Ethernet cable by using the old XP hard disk.
I am attempting to uninstall (and then reinstall) Office 2010 Prof Plus. I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).
Does anyone know how to remove the "safely remove hardware" icon in the taskbar? I do not mean hide it. I have my icons always show in the notification area because I don't like the arrow icon either.
I have a laptop HP PAVILION tx2550er. After installing AMD AHCI driver in the system tray shows the Safely Remove Hardware icon (my hard drive). How to remove (not hide!) the icon?
my system is a Gateway sx2800 with windows 7 64 bit OS.I just reinstalled my windows 7 os and various software that i use.My son was playing an internet game that needed Adobe Shockwave downloaded to play.Download seem to go fine, but when I came back to my computer about an hour later i found that my internet connection was gone. System says internet adaptor gone/no driver found.
So i installed Windows 7 RTM 7600 x86, and when i installed Windows the network was already working without having to install any drivers.
The problem is that some websites hang and dont load, and when i switch on the computer the network icon on the taskbar says no internet access until i open internet explorer. i even tried the websites in Firefox same issue, they hang.
It doesn't happen all the time and it isn't just 3 or 4 websites, it can be many websites.
So i went to the drivers page on Dell website and download the network driver for my PC (Dell website says its Intel 825xx 10/100 Platform LAN Connect Device)
so i try to install it and it says "cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) PRO adaptors are present in this computer"
this didn't happen in Windows Vista or Windows 7, and i tried downloading the latest version from Intel site (i think) and the same error happened.
Whats wrong?
Is that that the drivers are bad or wrong, or is there another problem why the websites hang because they dont hang on my brothers XP machine and he's on a wireless connection, my connection is wired.
I'm being confused on how to deal with drivers. I will be doing a clean install of Windows 7 on my laptop (Dell D631, 4Gb RAM, 500Gb HDD, currently Win XP Pro) and want to be in good shape re drivers required. I'm confused as to where to go to have the right drivers available before I start the install... what comes with Windows 7, what do I need to go to manuf websites for, what do I go to microsoft.com for, what about the Catch-22 of... "don't have the right (eg) network driver, and can't get onto the web due to this, to GET the right network driver..." etc etc.
I have installed Win 7 a while ago and today needed to print to my upstairs printer. My printer is a HP Deskjest 340 and it is connected to an iMac. I have all comps networked together so when i click add a printer my HP shows up as connected to my mac, no problem there. When i select the printer it starts to install a driver for it but a message comes up that says "No driver found" it asks me if i want to search for a driver on my comp but i don't have one to begin with. So basically I'm stuck. i have been to HPs website about there drivers and such and they don't have any drivers for Vista, they say the comp will look and find one for you while it did properly.
Well first of i start saying that i had win 7 64bit before. but formated and installed whit xp.
But i miss Windows 7 so i reinstalled it from same file as before.
Tho now i have a problem i never had before. when i start the pc like when im home from work the internett (wiered) does not work at all!
But if i go to device manager and delete the network driver and restarts the pc. Windows 7 installs it again and then it works untill i restart the pc. then its the same deal all over.
I was thinking mayby it installs an driver whitch "%&/() it up true the windows update so i have disabled the update so i manualy need to accept new updates. whitout luck.
Still same problem. i have been searthing nvidia for drivers but cant find any nForce 500 drivers?
I'm new here. I bought my eMachines ET1331 desktop with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit a year ago. However, three months ago these lag-spikes started. I've been told by many that re-installing original network drivers can fix this problem. And, it makes sense, as these lag-spikes never occurred for just shy of a year. Is there a way to re-install a pre-installed driver without the CD? If not, is there a way to identify my pre-installed driver and download off the Internet?
Not sure if this is at the right place, but! I need to get network driver for my Asus P5K motherboard.
My OS is Win 7 ultimate 32 bit, but I can't find compatible drivers, I guess I'm a noob so please help anyone.
I would love if someone could leave a dircet link for the driver that I will be needing so I don't screw anything up.
Also in the device manager I only see wireless and wifi something, I hope that means I need drivers to fix my problem or do I maybe need to install something else?
