If I try to install a driver and not all of the driver files are present, I will get the error message "The system cannot find the file specified." But the problem is that it doesn't actually tell me what file it can't find. There is a large empty space right underneath the error, as if something should be in that spot, but the file name is not listed there.(The above example is if you were to update the driver manually. Like if you were to click 'Update Driver', then 'Browse my computer for driver software', then 'Browse' to the directory with the INF file in it, and then click 'Next'.)In Windows XP, if you received the same error, it would show you the name of the missing file.
After many different repair options, I've managed to get my network partially going again. My network is WLAN based.DHCP client will not start - error = "error 2, The system cannot find the file specified".I can ping 127.0.0.1, my gateway IP, my other PCs on the network but I still cannot ping localhost - error = "Ping request could not find the host localhost. Please check the name and try again".Just tried to update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it gave me the error : "PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (0, 0, DNS error)
I have a Sony Vaio Z VPCZ128 GG laptop with windows 7 professional preinstalled. I use a 3G usb modem to connect. Everything worked fine until a few weeks ago. Now when I try to open any dialup connection I get the error: Cannot load the remote access connection manager service. Error 711: the operation could not finish because it could not start the remote access connection manager service in time. Please try the operation again. See attached image. My services are as follows:
1. Remote access connection manager. Not started
2. Secure socket tunneling protocol service. Started
3. Telephony. Started When I try to start the Remote access connection manager, I get the error: Windows could not start the Remote access connection manager service on local computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. See attached image. Is there any way to solve the problem without having to reinstall or upgrade windows?
an error "the system cannot find the file specified" occured when i was trying to run a setup.exe to setup the microsoft expression4,a microsoft package i 've searched some forums but i haven't resolved it yet....
I recently turned my usb into bootable usb in order to run chrome os,everything was ok untill i needed my usb to transfer some files so when i plugged it in while running windows 7 a box popped up to format it i clicked ok,then i noticed the usb from 8 giga showed up as 1 giga in my computer.I opened disk management and saw that it was cutted down in many partitions, i deleted some of them so i would expand it in one partition,at that point my trouble began, the expand option was greyed out,i tried diskpart and delete the partitions there. After that the drive lost its assign letter and showed up as one partition in disk management but in my computer it was invisible,i tried other guides that use diskpart and i download some programs to fix this with no luck.when i tried to format or assign letter from disk management i get this message "the system cannot find the file specified usb format".I tried to plug the usb in my roomates laptop with the same resaults so i dont think its my drivers or laptop problem.
I'll warn up front that this is a duplicate of another forum entry, but although that other entry is now closed, the solution was never postedI recently turned my 8GB Sandisk usb into bootable usb in order to run chrome os,everything was ok untill i needed my usb to transfer some files so when i plugged it in while running windows 7 a box popped up to format it i clicked ok,then i noticed the usb from 8 GB showed up as 1 GB in my computer.I opened disk management and saw that it was cut into many partitions, i deleted some of them so i would expand it in one partition,at that point my trouble began, the expand option was greyed out,i tried diskpart and delete the partitions there. After that the drive lost its assign letter and showed up as one partition in disk management but in my computer it was invisible,i tried other guides that use diskpart.when i try to format or assign letter from disk management i get this message "the system cannot find the file specified usb format".
I was messing around with the partition editor in Fedora 14 and accidentally changed the file type on the boot partition. When I go through the startup repair and do the command prompt method, when I enter bcdedit I get the message "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The system cannot find the file specified"When I do bootrec.exe /fixboot it give me this. "The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded an that the volume is not corrupted" /fixmbr says that it completes successfully btw.
I recently purchased a wireless adapter for xbox 360. its not a genuine microsoft product. i have tried everything to install the driver but everytime it says "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it xbox360 wireless reciever for windows The system cannot find the file specified" does windows simply not allow unsigned drivers at all anymore? i have tried installing in test mode, but still no joy.
Ever since a botched encryption which resulted in me having to format a drive (not the main c drive),everything I download gives this message when I try to open it -
"ShellExecuteEx failed; code 2.
The system cannot find the file specified."
I've tried changing the download location to various places, same thing, tried using iexporer, firefox (my default), chrome, same thing. -when I r-click, "run as administrator" it gives the following message (for instance w/wordpad):
"Windows cannot find 'E:/Downloads/wordpad.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
A little condescending it seems to me, considering I didn't type anything, and simply tried to run the .exe from its download location. I've also gone into user accounts (I am the only account) and made sure I'm the administrator.
So yesterday in the early AM's I was browsing my internet and all the sudden, bam.i lost my internet. No reason at all, it just happened. This is only my computer, everything else works fine (If internet is out, our TV's don't work)When I go to my little internet icon in the taskbar, it says Unidentified Network and I have no internet access what so ever. When I run CMD and use ipconfig /release I get this:"An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified."I also got this error before:"An error occurred while releasing interface Local Area Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint." Tech support kept telling me to use ipconfig /flushdns but whenever I entered it into CMD it gave me an error saying something along the lines of "command unrecognized" I cannot give you guys the full text of what CMD says since it's on a different computer.I am using a direct ethernet cord, not wireless.
* ipconfig /release and /renew and /flushdns * Turn off firewall * Update and Reinstall Driver * Restarting my modem/router * Restarting my computer * Unplugging my ethernet cord and replugging it (also leaving it unplugged over-night) * Manually assigning the 12 code I'm assuming IP
So I found a post on this forum with a similar problem. I'm trying to move a file that is larger than 4GB in size from my main hard drive to an external, and getting the error message in the title. The consensus on the other post was that the hard drive must have been a FAT format, and that too fix the problem either split up the file or reformat the hard drive as NTFS.Well, by all accounts, my computer is telling me that my external hard drive is ALREADY formatted as NTFS, but I'm still getting this error. I would prefer not to split up the file, but other than that, what are my options?

So basically, I got an embarassing folder and I want to find the oldest file in there. I had a bad experience with Seagate so all the "date created"s HAVE been reset to 10/27 but date modified will work fine. When you download something the date modified also is made to the time you downloaded it, right? Regardless, I wanna know how to find the oldest for date modified and if possible, date created
Does anyone know where to find the DU Meter log file? I've checked C:ProgramDataHagel TechnologiesDU Meter and in C:UsersUsernameAppdata but I can't find anything.
Every time i boot my pc, it asks me if i want to run this .exe since its an unknown publisher (pretty standard). The problem is, that the file it wants to open, is located in AppDataRoamingLOVEsfsdfr.exe if i go there, the file isnt there (neither is the LOVE folder, tho i can just type the destination). I do have show hidden files and folders on. Even if i go to CMD navigate to the folder, and type dir it doesnt show it.I however know the file exists, because opening the files via this path: C:Users {Username}AppData RoamingLOVEsfsdfr.exe gives me before mentioned popup.so, i tried removing the file via cmd. I tried DEL and it didn't work. It couldn't find the file.I am pretty sure the file exists, and its behaviour makes me suspicious. Any help on removeing it?

So I bought this like a year ago and only had the basic Medieval installed (Without kingdoms) I got into it again and wanted to play it with kingdoms so I deleted Medieval and tried reinstalling it again. Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.
