Device Manager Not Network Adapter Tree Does Not Even Show Up
May 1, 2012I cannot for the life of me get my internet to work.. more specifically it keeps telling me I need to install network drivers.I checked BIOS and LAN settings are all good.I've tried installing a realtek driver update.On my device manager not the network adapter tree does not even show up. I've done 2 full re-installs of windows 7 and no luck.I'm using an ASUS M4A89GTD PRO mobo, running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Apr 30, 2010I have a media library with, surprisingly enough, media in it! Videos to be exact. Each of the sub-folders have in them videos as well as .nfo files for displaying data awesomeness in the likes of XBMC. However, I do not like the way it makes my folders look when I browse to them in explorer.
Is there a way to hide all my *.nfo files only in the Video folder and subfolders?

Jul 23, 2012I ask because I have just noticed that when I open WORD files that the newly generated WBK-files are visible despite me using the "attrib +h *.nfo /s" command previously. I foolishly hoped that also all future '*.wbk's would automatically be hidden too. Is there anything that I can do about it without repeating the manual command prompt all the time as suggested in Hide all of a certain file type in a folder tree?

Nov 13, 2012About 2 months ago I bought a new laptop. (Asus n56v). Since day one, I noticed every application I run will freeze or stutter every now and then. Its totally random when it does this. No matter what I am doing, web browsing, watching a video or playing a game. I always notice the application will stutter. I never get any errors, the applications never crash they just stutter for a second. Now, being a smart wiz that I am, I half screened a video playing, while I had task manger opened in the other half. I went to the performance tab and waited. Sure enough when the video started to stutter, I noticed all of my cores went up to 100% for the time the video was stuttering.
Then they went back to normal 1 - 5%. Again its not just 1 program that does this. Every program does this. Its not my drivers as I installed them over and over again. Its not my video card as I was able to switch to my on board intel 4000 gpu and it still does the same thing. So my only theory now is that there is a background application running that seems to be trying to do something quite intensive every now and then and this seems to be making my applications stutter. So is there a way to check to see what application is using 100% of my cpu every now and then?

Dec 7, 2012I have setup some monitoring software in an XP Virtual Application. More specifically I used the "Virtual Applications: The 'Invisible' Third Mode" method described here.
My challenge is that I need to access the applications database file, and save it to a location on the host computer. It seems to me that the only way to save files from the Virtual Application is through the program itself, and because the program hasn't been designed to save the database file (e.g.: there is no "File - Save DB" command) I am stuck.
If I had setup a Virtual Machine and then installed the software into it I would have the advantage of being able to access the guest file system, however I would not have been able to start my monitoring software whenever a user logs onto the computer.
Is there any way of accessing the host system of a Virtual Application?

If however I try to modify the search in the same window a popup comes up saying "Application/json" is ready to dowloand a file, where do I want to save it? Oct 26, 2011Our office has an old program that we still need to use when upgrading our PC's to Windows 7. The program will run fine if you start a windows virtual PC and install and run it. However, based on the needs of our office, I need to be able to run Windows XP mode and simply have an icon for our users to click to take them to the application.If I install the program in windows XP mode, and then add a shortcut to the file under all users/start menu, a shortcut is placed in the appropriate place on the windows 7 machine and I can copy that shortcut ot the desktop. The program runs fine until you restart the computer. Once you restart the computer and double click the link on the windows 7 desktop to the program running in windows XP mode, it says:
Cannot start virtual application. The application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
I read some other posts saying to put a new shortcut in the all users/start menu folder. This works, but only until our users restart their computer. The next time the computer is up, the problem happens again. This is not an acceptable solution to have to create a new shortcut for each workstation each time the computer is restarted.
