View 2 RepliesIt is very strange why when windows is freshly installed and there are let's say 7 programs loading is faster than loading the same programs after 4-5 months using of the system.I have like 7 X programs loading :Kaspersky 12 IS Steam clientOutlook Express 2003teamviewerSkypeGoogle Desktopimbuzz ChatI clean my system with Windows 7 manager ,using Diskeeper latest for auto defragmenting ,uninstalling the programs properly with "your uninstaller latest" and i am sure i do everything properly ,so the question is why is that insanely slow booting ebery time ??? I tested to desable the programs from the startup and i still get slow boot .to say that is all fine after loads 5-7 minutes ... computer runs fast. But until it boots is nightmare!!!My computer is a notebook asus g73 game edit.I7 @1.6 ghz10 GB ram1 GB Ati 5870I have scanned my pc with combofix for viruses as well as with KIS 2012 ,non found!
View 5 Replies View Relatedrecently I had 4GBs of RAM, and will, but for now I have it in my WHS because the 2011 release requires 2GBs of RAM.But I'm very angry with the performance decrease. It's always been this way though. It always has this stupid performance decrease, and lowering my RAM triggered it and that angers me.My computer takes about 10 minutes before anything will start loading... I've down new installs, used different HDDs, different motherboards, etc. Why! Why does a computer with a Core 2 Quad and 4GBs of RAM (usually it has that) respond slowly. Is it because my RAM is only DDR2 667? Does Windows 7 not work well with DDR2 667? My CPU isn't the issue, task manager shows the PC basically doing nothing on boot-up. And then out of nowhere, Windows Live Messenger and Lync start, and IE9 opens when I clicked it 5 minutes prior to it opening.I really want this XPS 420 to behave better starting up...it has a Q6600 and it's a relatively new install of Windows 7.it's a hardware issue, not a software issue. Also the GPU is good too, ATI Radeon HD 5500 series. Well, new, not hardcore specs, but definitely Windows 7 compatible and DX11-capable. I don't know...

Have downloaded the latest build 7057 and burnt it successfully. When booting from the DVD, it takes a long time until the setup starts. After a couple of minutes I'm getting to the box where I'm going to choose language, Choosing language and continues.THEN it halts down. After 10 minutes looking at the window saying "Setup Is Starting" I'm able to accept the EULA.Then, I neet to create a partition on the HD. It takes hours to complete and I'm giving up.

My laptop is currently dual booting Ubuntu 11.04 and windows 7. Recently windows has been taking forever to boot up (at least 2 - 4 minutes), it runs perfectly fine when booted. I stuck in the CD to see if there was any start up errors but I cannot seem to access that due to the grub menu. Is there anyway to fix this issue?

Recently and all of a sudden, my boot time has went from about 30 seconds to about 3 minutes, with a long delay between windows logo and welcome screen. I've posted the zipped file here: Boot_Trace.zipx
I recently made a separate partition on my HD (C), let's call it F. I wanted to load up windows xp onto that small partition, F, so as to see if it would allow me to operate better, as I have a gaming laptop that seems to be suffering from a memory hog svchost. Anyway, now that I've booted up to the F partition and working in XP, I find that I dislike it, I also can't figure out how to connect to the internet. My issue is, I can't figure out how to boot to the C, my Windows 7, the original OS. I'm not given an option upon startup and I can't find anything in my BIOS that is obviously pertaining to my issue.

I downloaded a recovery disk, it works, I can access cmd.
I was attempting to run chkdsk and went into Safe Mode -- no problems discovered. However, since then whenever I boot / reboot laptop Safe Mode screens reappear. Thinking back I don't recall any guidelines from any Win7 tech sites advising turning off Safe Mode. So, I initially assumed Safe Mode automatically reverted to the prior mode -- apparently an incorrect assumption. How do I get back to Normal Windows Start Up for Win7 Home Premium x64?
I got out of Safe Mode to restart somehow -- ESC key -- I did not force quit by turning off. Since then system now starts by scrolling thru 2-3 screens of "Loading: ... (various driver drive locations / various names)" and then Win 7 login screen comes in with Password box.
Everything else is running fine now except I suspect I need to go back to boot Safe Mode screen and turn Safe Mode off -- return it back to Start Win 7 Normally.
My laptop takes lot of time for boot up.

I've updated all drivers to latest version. I'm using CCleaner , daily clean files and registry , defragment drives, disabled everything from bootup using ccleaner (in msconfig all options are untick) .
Still laptop takes lot of time before the "Welcome" screen appears and when the "welcome" screen (in between the bg changes to black ). I tried creating boot trace but then I got a BSOD, I used system restore to fix it .
I recently built a system and it has been running relatively smoothly for a while until all of a sudden my boot time at least doubled. I dont think that this is general slowing down due to more programs installed etc. there must be some kind of problem. At first i thought it might have been one of my USB devices so i removed all but my necessary ones (Mouse, keyboard, wireless network and sound.) and it was still very slow so im not quite sure what the problem is. Sometimes it pauses on the welcome screen and sometimes a black screen just before that. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Also while im asking about this, does anyone have any tips on how to keep my PC running nice and smoothly? Normally i would just defrag/disk cleanup/virus scan when i start to notice it slowing down and physically clean the case if i notice any overheating.
I'll list my system and USB devices below.

I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents. Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.I have tried Office in the XP mode on Windows 7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Windows 7 and Office.
