Why is Windows 7 Ultimate very slow? I've done a complete reinstallation of windows 7 ultimate wiped out the entire disk, after installing a few programs it starts to become slow, (Its like watching paint dry) Here I will list the system's

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop. I have encountered that the windows runs abnormal.Each time I select a program to run or just at a random time, the computer is frozen, no responses, and the hard drive led is lid constant. This can take up to 1 minute. Recently and all of a sudden, my boot time has went from about 30 seconds to about 3 minutes, with a long delay between windows logo and welcome screen. I found cluberi's tutorial on obtaining a boot log and I've done so.

I've updated all drivers to latest version. I'm using CCleaner , daily clean files and registry , defragment drives, disabled everything from bootup using ccleaner (in msconfig all options are untick) .
Still laptop takes lot of time before the "Welcome" screen appears and when the "welcome" screen (in between the bg changes to black ). I tried creating boot trace but then I got a BSOD, I used system restore to fix it .
since one week my laptop del 830 is very slow during the very fisrt stage of booting, any one have some thing to say about this ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently built a system and it has been running relatively smoothly for a while until all of a sudden my boot time at least doubled. I dont think that this is general slowing down due to more programs installed etc. there must be some kind of problem. At first i thought it might have been one of my USB devices so i removed all but my necessary ones (Mouse, keyboard, wireless network and sound.) and it was still very slow so im not quite sure what the problem is. Sometimes it pauses on the welcome screen and sometimes a black screen just before that. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Also while im asking about this, does anyone have any tips on how to keep my PC running nice and smoothly? Normally i would just defrag/disk cleanup/virus scan when i start to notice it slowing down and physically clean the case if i notice any overheating.

I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents. Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.I have tried Office in the XP mode on Windows 7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Windows 7 and Office.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought the full retail Win 7 Ultimate and trying to upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Ultimate, both 32bit. I get to the Expanding Windows files to 21% and nothing. The program is still running and stuck at 21% but after waiting 3 hours I shut power off and Vista was reinstated. Why can't I get past 21% Expanding Windows files? I want to use the upgrade because I have a ton of programs on my Vista and don't want to spend days reinstalling them.

It takes forever to bootup, startup and it sometime hangs when I open up a program or typing.For the bootup, it takes very long time on the window logo, after that the black screen, followed by the welcome page with the loading cursor. Each of this process take a long time. For startup, its not so long but its still quite lag. For the opening up of program and typing, everytime I open up my visual studio, it will take a long time to show up and even if it showed up, it will be "not responding".So I will have to open it a second time before I can start using itWhen I am typing my codes, it will randomly hang and show that the program is not responding. I am still able to move my cursor though.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've tried to upgrade from Vista Ultimate 32 bit to 7 Ultimate 32 bit numerous times now, all with the same result: a BSOD during the install process, which I get during (what I think is) the final step called "Transferring files, settings and programs."
The installation compatibility test warns me about my Nvidia drivers, which I've attempted to both remove and upgrade to the latest version, but that doesn't seem to make a difference (I still get the warning during the compatibility check, and I still get the blue screen). I'm not sure that's even the problem, either. I can't (easily) remove/replace the video card, since my mobo doesn't have onboard video, so I'd hopefully be able to avoid having to do that.
The error in the blue screen is a nebulous "REFERENCE_BY_POINTER" message. The technical information is "STOP: 0x00000018 (0x00000000, 0x86478030, 0x00000002, 0xFFFFFFFF)."
As a zip file, I've attached the setup log, error log, compatibility report, and what I think is the setup dump file, all of which I found in C:$WINDOWS.~BTSourcesPanther (I believe that's the right place to look). The logs complain about BthMig problems, which I think has something to do with bluetooth, but I don't have any bluetooth peripherals. I've uninstalled things that I thought might have some bluetooth things in it, like MS Intellitype (maybe a stretch), but again, no difference.
System specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, on an Asus M2N SLI Deluxe, with 4 GB of ram, and an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT. The hard drive I'm installing (upgrading) on has about 100 GB free.
I'm trying to upgrade a computer from Vista Ultimate (32 bit) to 7 Ultimate (32 bit) and I keep receiving this error message:
"This installation disc isn't compatible with your version of Windows. To upgrade, you need the correct installation disc. For more information, check your computer's system information. To install a new copy of Windows, restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select Custom (advanced)."
Now, I double-checked all the system requirements and the system is compatible with 7.
Today I began installing windows 7 ultimate on my laptop. However, I grabbed my ultimate N disk instead of my Ultimate disk. is there a way to upgrade to normal ultimate version. I have setup windows media center on every tv in my house and would like to have it on my laptop lol. It takes 10 min to boot into windows and you pretty much cant do anything in windows either its so slow once you click on something it takes 5 min to actually select the icon after you click it. I had this rig running fine 5 days ago. I have tried reformatting and worked fine for a day then booted up again and same thing. It happened when I got home from being out of town for a few days, before I left, my computer was just fine, my computer has an AMD Athlon II 2.80 GHz, 4 CPU cores. 4 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon graphics card etc.What it is doing is, it goes through the BIOS just like it's always been, then, when it is about to start windows, it just goes to a black screen for about 30 seconds, then "Starting Windows" comes up for like 5 minutes without anything there, then after a while, the windows logo comes on top of the "Starting WIndows" and it just hangs. I also have an Ubuntu OS installed on a separate Hard drive on the computer if that helps diagnose the problem,I also tried starting Ubuntu also, same thing, slow as hell. It is a custom made computer made by me about a year and a half ago, never had any problems until just now. As I am typing this now my computer is still hanging at the "Start Windows" screen for roughly about 20 minutes.
