Really Slow Boot With Windows 7 Ultimate X64

Apr 29, 2012

I found this site through a google search of "long boot times". Recently and all of a sudden, my boot time has went from about 30 seconds to about 3 minutes, with a long delay between windows logo and welcome screen. I found cluberi's tutorial on obtaining a boot log and I've done so.

I've posted the zipped file here: Boot_Trace.zipx

Slow Boot Up Of Windows (64 Bit Ultimate) On Laptop

Jan 27, 2012

My laptop takes lot of time for boot up.

Config :
Name : Asus K53SV - SX520D
Ram : 4GB DDR3
Processor : i5 2430 2nd gen

[Code]...

I've updated all drivers to latest version. I'm using CCleaner , daily clean files and registry , defragment drives, disabled everything from bootup using ccleaner (in msconfig all options are untick) .

Still laptop takes lot of time before the "Welcome" screen appears and when the "welcome" screen (in between the bg changes to black ). I tried creating boot trace but then I got a BSOD, I used system restore to fix it .

Slow Boot Time In Windows 7 Ultimate?

Mar 14, 2011

I recently built a system and it has been running relatively smoothly for a while until all of a sudden my boot time at least doubled. I dont think that this is general slowing down due to more programs installed etc. there must be some kind of problem. At first i thought it might have been one of my USB devices so i removed all but my necessary ones (Mouse, keyboard, wireless network and sound.) and it was still very slow so im not quite sure what the problem is. Sometimes it pauses on the welcome screen and sometimes a black screen just before that. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Also while im asking about this, does anyone have any tips on how to keep my PC running nice and smoothly? Normally i would just defrag/disk cleanup/virus scan when i start to notice it slowing down and physically clean the case if i notice any overheating.

I'll list my system and USB devices below.

Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.8Ghz
Corsair XMS3 2x2GB 1600Mhz
ASRock P55 Deluxe
Palit GTX 460 1GB SE

Very Slow Booting ,windows 7 Ultimate X64?

Jan 24, 2012

It is very strange why when windows is freshly installed and there are let's say 7 programs loading is faster than loading the same programs after 4-5 months using of the system.I have like 7 X programs loading :Kaspersky 12 IS Steam clientOutlook Express 2003teamviewerSkypeGoogle Desktopimbuzz ChatI clean my system with Windows 7 manager ,using Diskeeper latest for auto defragmenting ,uninstalling the programs properly with "your uninstaller latest" and i am sure i do everything properly ,so the question is why is that insanely slow booting ebery time ??? I tested to desable the programs from the startup and i still get slow boot .to say that is all fine after loads 5-7 minutes ... computer runs fast. But until it boots is nightmare!!!My computer is a notebook asus g73 game edit.I7 @1.6 ghz10 GB ram1 GB Ati 5870I have scanned my pc with combofix for viruses as well as with KIS 2012 ,non found!

Office 2003 Slow With Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit?

Sep 21, 2011

I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents. Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.I have tried Office in the XP mode on Windows 7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Windows 7 and Office.

Slow Boot Time Slow Startup And Hangs?

Nov 18, 2011

I bought this Fujitsu laptop for less than a year. Its only for my school work. It takes forever to bootup, startup and it sometime hangs when I open up a program or typing. For the bootup, it takes very long time on the window logo, after that the black screen, followed by the welcome page with the loading cursor. Each of this process take a long time. For startup, its not so long but its still quite lag. For the opening up of program and typing, everytime I open up my visual studio, it will take a long time to show up and even if it showed up, it will be "not responding".So I will have to open it a second time before I can start using itWhen I am typing my codes, it will randomly hang and show that the program is not responding. I am still able to move my cursor though.

Windows 7 Slow To Boot

Mar 24, 2011

My son has a Dell Vostro 200MT. Windows 7 32 bit, upgraded from Vista. He has a e7200 CPU, onboard graphics, 4GB Ram. He has been doing some intense computing and said he has been maxing out his CPU's at 100% for weeks. For starters, the system for several months has not shut-down, only reset when asked to shutdown. He has been using sleep mode. Over the past several days, when starting up it goes to the BSOD. This could be from him powering down PC since it won't shutdown. Now, system takes over 5 minutes to boot up. When logged in, the windows maximize and minimize in slow motion. You can see them slowly open/close and move across the screen and are translucent. We did a fresh install of windows 7 and have same thing. He thinks that the CPU may be destroyed.

Windows 7 Ultimate Won't Now Boot

Mar 24, 2011

Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit on desktop PC has been running fine for several months (legit dvd and serial number). It had a pretty old NVidia 6600 graphics card so I decided to replace it with a newer card as the latest 64 bit drivers didn't seem to work and so I reverted to the old drivers some weeks ago and all has been fine since.

On installation of the new graphics card the PC wouldn't boot. It goes to the black screen with the coloured widows logo and wouldn't go any further ( I know the card is OK it came from my sons PC). I tried a repair boot without the cd and that didn't do anything either. I reverted to the old graphics card. Still wouldn't boot past the black screen as above BUT if I leave it I can hear the chime as Skype starts so it would appear as though Windows is actually booting but not displaying the desktop.

I have tried a repair from the boot menu and from the original dvd and they just hang on the blue graphics screen with the birds and the white squiggle. I therefore decided that I would do a reinstall and a new install now hangs at the same screen. If I try a boot to safe mode the boot hangs at classpnp.sys.

Ideally I don't want to do a reinstall but I will if I have to and if I can get it to reinstall.

Windows 7 Ultimate Won't Boot

Jun 11, 2012

I bought an Acer Aspire 4530 from an acquaintance that when I got it had an unverified version of Windows 7 Ultimate on it. He found a keygen and it worked to verify it. The next day it was running super slow so I restarted it but it came back with status: 0xc000000f which I googled and its a boot issue. I do not have a disk for it and all the repairs I have came across require a disk to fix the issue. My boyfriend has a disk but its for Windows 7 home premium. Will that work? Both the laptop and my boyfriend's desktop are 64 bit.

Windows 7 Boot And Performance Slow Down?

Mar 3, 2012

I have, within the past few weeks, build my own computer. The compter has worked great for a while, but then started having problems. It had problems with the internet and other stuff, but I was able to fix the problems by disabling parts of my firewall. Now though, when my computer boots Windows, it goes to the login screen fine and without problems. Then when I log in, it says "Welcome" for about 2 minutes, until I am able to get my account. Then, when I get into my account, the computer runs really slow and almost can't run anything it is so slow. So my question is why would this be happening? I know that it isn't the CPU's speed because it is over 3 GHz and has worked fine for me and the overall build is a very high speed gaming computer. This is my first computer. The details of the computer are this: CPU-Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3 GHz Motherboard-Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P LGA 1155 INTEL Z68 OS-Windows 7 Home Premium There are two hard drives on the computer, a 1 TB HDD and a 60 GB SSD?

New SSD Build - Windows 7 Slow Boot

Jun 22, 2012

I just finally finished building my first gaming rig, everything on it is great and really fast. However, the windows boot has now got a lot slower. In the "Starting Windows" screen (the black one where it shows the colorful windows symbol) it now sits there for about a minute. This morning and yesterday it only took 5-10 seconds. I just built it, installed drivers, windows, etc., yesterday. Once I finished with those, I made a backup image. I then loaded more programs and games on today.

Then I restarted my comp and found it took a lot longer to reboot. I restored it back to the image in case I put on a bad program or something, but it still boots slow. What causes a brand new computer with an SSD shouldn't take this long to boot. I also installed the drivers for the MOBO from the CD, and I couldn't find any firmware update for the SSD (the software Magician that came with it said there weren't any)

It's also Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
Here is my build: [URL]

Windows 7 Slow Boot Time?

Nov 25, 2012

I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to fixing computer problems. I just want to make sure I am correct with what the problem may be. I need some input from fellow computer heads. My neighbors had a problem with Win7 slow startups. Sometimes it would boot up slow and sometimes it would just stay on the blank screen. I went into Safe Mode and got rid of all of the malware and the one virus. That did not solve the problem. So after thorough troubleshooting I decided to re-install windows. Everything was running fine yesterday but now it is taking about 20 minutes for windows to load and after logging into a profile it takes an additional 10-15 minutes. Last night I had went into msconfig to prevent slow startups . I'm assuming there is a problem with the HDD

Windows 7 Slow Boot (Taking Up 4 Minutes)

Jan 22, 2013

I have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 1750, Windows 7 Home Premium that is taking upwards of 4 minutes to boot up. If I boot in safe mode it will boot fine except it does hang ever so slightly while loading drivers, with the last driver being classpnp.sys but it is only for a few seconds then proceeds to finish booting up without any issues.

Here is what I have done so far...
- Stopped a lot of programs from starting up at start up.
- Ran Malwarebytes and Virus Scan (Microsoft Essentials) both in safe mode. I then downloaded and ran CC Cleaner. Malwarebytes detected numerous entries of PUP.MyWebSearch and two entries for Trojan.Vundo. It was able to fix both issues. Virus Scan (Full) came back clean. CCleaner did it's thing.
- Opened device manager to check to see if there were any driver issues, and I don't see any indication of that.

After all this the slow boot still happens. Now all this being said, once the computer does boot up it runs quickly without any issues.
