I find my machine Windows 7 guest os is slow in connecting to the network after booting up.It has not always been like that though I cannot remember when it started.It boots fine and then the exclamation mark comes on and it takes maybe 30 seconds till it connects.

Have downloaded the latest build 7057 and burnt it successfully.When booting from the DVD, it takes a long time until the setup starts.After a couple of minutes I'm getting to the box where I'm going to choose language, Choosing language and continues.THEN it halts down. After 10 minutes looking at the window saying "Setup Is Starting" I'm able to accept the EULA.Then, I neet to create a partition on the HD. It takes hours to complete and I'm giving up.

recently I had 4GBs of RAM, and will, but for now I have it in my WHS because the 2011 release requires 2GBs of RAM.But I'm very angry with the performance decrease. It's always been this way though. It always has this stupid performance decrease, and lowering my RAM triggered it and that angers me.My computer takes about 10 minutes before anything will start loading... I've down new installs, used different HDDs, different motherboards, etc. Why! Why does a computer with a Core 2 Quad and 4GBs of RAM (usually it has that) respond slowly.Is it because my RAM is only DDR2 667? Does Windows 7 not work well with DDR2 667? My CPU isn't the issue, task manager shows the PC basically doing nothing on boot-up. And then out of nowhere, Windows Live Messenger and Lync start, and IE9 opens when I clicked it 5 minutes prior to it opening.I really want this XPS 420 to behave better starting up...it has a Q6600 and it's a relatively new install of Windows 7.it's a hardware issue, not a software issue.Also the GPU is good too, ATI Radeon HD 5500 series. Well, new, not hardcore specs, but definitely Windows 7 compatible and DX11-capable. I don't know...

Windows 7 usually takes about 40 seconds to load, but after install or un-installing things and/or changing the registry, Windows can take 2 or 3 minutes to boot. Is this normal?

It is very strange why when windows is freshly installed and there are let's say 7 programs loading is faster than loading the same programs after 4-5 months using of the system.I have like 7 X programs loading :Kaspersky 12 IS Steam clientOutlook Express 2003teamviewerSkypeGoogle Desktopimbuzz ChatI clean my system with Windows 7 manager ,using Diskeeper latest for auto defragmenting ,uninstalling the programs properly with "your uninstaller latest" and i am sure i do everything properly ,so the question is why is that insanely slow booting ebery time ??? I tested to desable the programs from the startup and i still get slow boot .to say that is all fine after loads 5-7 minutes ... computer runs fast.But until it boots is nightmare!!!My computer is a notebook asus g73 game edit.I7 @1.6 ghz10 GB ram1 GB Ati 5870I have scanned my pc with combofix for viruses as well as with KIS 2012 ,non found!

Can anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.

My problem is windows 7 hangs and freeze when access 2003 server Enterprise edition. This is not a small network, one of the biggest network.i have doubt on individual users on domain. before 2 months we had department wise users mean, for example Accounts@domainname.local. But after we created the individual users like john@domainname.local to all users. this is i believe the cause of problem. When we acess the server via the software it freezed for 5 seconds and then repeat to normal state. And after some time it hangs for 2 minutes.

My co-workers computer is extremely slow and will connect via WiFi but not when connected to an ethernet cable. It is a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. He thought it had a virus. I ran HiJackThis and it looks like some files are missing. He does not have any discs for it.

I was dealing with a BSOD problem which I was helped with greatly over in the BSOD section. It basically led me to doing a fresh install of windows 7, and I have not had a BSOD since. But since I have done a fresh install, When I wake my desktop up from sleep mode, it takes about a minute to a minute and a half for it to connect to my network. Before I did the fresh install. I would wake my computer up, and my internet connection would be ready right away. My wireless adapter is TL-WN851ND. I have turned off the power save feature on my adapter, and also turned off the power save feature that windows has, and its still doing this, and I really cant figure out why. Its really not a HUGE deal, as long as it connects, but I am an extremely impatient person when it comes to things like this.

I get the black screen with only the cursor after typing in my password.It seems to be related to my network though. When i disconnect my LAN cable or boot into safe mode (without networking) it boots fine, then i plug in my LAN cable once windows has finished booting.I noticed this because over the past few days (when i could sometimes boot with the LAN cable connected) it wouldnt connect to the network without the cable being disconnected and reconnected.Im also having issues connecting to 192.168.1.1 in my browser (yes this is my router address and i can connect using another computer).I have had a quick browser through the event viewer but cant find anything obvious that it could be. I will save todays events and upload if anyone needs to see them.I have ran a scan with malwarebytes and MSE and both come up clean.I am running a custom build which has been fine since building it in January. Im running windows 7 Professional x64 with 8GB RAM and a Crucial M4 SSD with the OS on.

I am having some issues with my computer booting off the other computers here. I have a computer with windows 7 and it is booting the other two computers from our wireless connection, both of the other computers run Windows XP, and belong to others here, and when I use my computer it keeps booting the others offline and they have to reconnect and my computer ends up slowing their connection. Does anyone know why my computer keeps booting the other two computers off our connection.

I am looking at a solution to tap into the portability of virtualization across hardware. i.e. if I have my development environment as a VM, I can access it and bring it up from any machine on the network. This will enable me to be not attached to any physical machine and allow me to access my development machine seamlessly from anywhere if it is stored in a network location. I have mainly two questions around such a setup.
1) Is there anyway of hosting the VM without incurring the expense of both the host operating system and the guest operating system? The only functionality of the host operating system to host the VM.
2) Is it viable from a performance stand point to have a VM booted up on a machine from a vhd placed at a network location?

My computer recently started having issues........ here is what is going on:
* boot computer
* Windows boot screen displayed ~ 1 minute
* screen goes black. Can move mouse. Drive light constantly on, not blinking. ~ 5 minutes
* log in screen comes up / log in
* Desktop loads ~ 1 minute > sometimes it loads with regular windows aero theme other times it loads with basic windows classic theme.
* Error message pop up "failed to connect to System event notification service"
* Have to wait for about 5 more minutes before computer is actually usable
* Occasionally the audio service does not work as well...
From when I press the power button to when I can actually use my computer takes 10 - 15 minutes. Here is what I have tried so far:
* Turning off all start up programs / services
* Uninstalled AVG anti virus
* PC Tools Registry mechanic registry clean up
* Tested Memory - passed
* Hard Drive Self Test ---- # 1 - 7 fail / #10008 Fail > I am guessing that this is the source of the problem, however my computer does still work once everything is finally booted. So I don't know what to do with that information or if that test even matters.
* I have tried looking at the event viewer but every time it says that the event log service is unavailable > I try turning on Windows Event Log but that does not change anything
* I tried "netsh winsock reset" in command prompt, based on a different thread that I found - it didn't work
Possible useful information:
Windows 7 Professional x64 upgraded from vista
Avg Anti Virus
PC tools Registry mechanic
HP pavilion dv2000 (dv2915nr)
Intel Core 2 Duo: T5550, 1830 Mhz

I have searched through some of the threads and there seems to be an issue with the realtek drivers, but I am wondering if anyone has any other ideas.
I am currently running build 7237 and everything runs great except if I copy something across my network. I have attached a picture that shows my network utilization spiking up to almost 99% when just coping files from one computer to the other. This only happens under 7, not on xp or vista.
I have tried playing around with adapter settings, etc but nothing seems to help. My motherboard is a Gigabyte with the built in 8168/8111 nic card. Connecting to a Linksys WRT54GL router. I have checked gigabytes site and they don't have any new drivers for 7 yet.
Anyone have any idea's I could try?

Just set up Windows 7 RTM on one of the machines in our office and I'm noticing something very strange: when we try to open a network drive, it's taking upwards of 40 seconds. You double-click on the drive and then just sit there as the green bar just CRAWLS across the address box and then finally displays the contents of the drive.
What's worse is that it does the same thing every time you change a directory on the network drive.
Opening network resources via URI does the same thing. It's just strange.
I've already disabled RDC on the machine, and it hasn't made a difference after a reboot.
Has anyone seen anything similar? Any thoughts?

my router is brand spankin new, 802.11n. the modem has since been replaced... but for the life of me, i cannot get a decent download/upload speed.I Used to get 28-31mb download on speedtest.net. then later it dropped to 17-25, and i said, Ok, thats not bad, not great, but not bad. now im down to .81mb-1.2mb average if im lucky i pull 3 or 4.my upload speed has always been no higher than 1mb. i am not 100% sure why, im prety sure they do it so i dont run servers, but it still seems a little low IMHO.I dunno whats going on, i have a bit of network experience, but all software end, nothing hardware end in the way of routers etc?

I bought a week ago a Dell pc with Win 7 Pro 64 bit. When I connected it to the network (40-50 pc & laptops), I realized that when I am trying to copy from the network and download from internet, the speed is really low. I changed Speed&duplex from auto to 100 mb full, I disabled Remote differential compression, I updated all the drivers, etc but still the same problem. Does anybody has any idea what do I have to do to make this work properly?

I have a main "server PC" with a lot of shared data on it running windows vista.
People in the house who also have vista can access the network drive super fast basically as if it was their own.
However my computer which is windows 7 profession 64 bit has a slower access time.
Wondering if anyone know a fix for this.

how do I find out my network password? or is there some other way to connect?I have been able to connect two PC's before with my friends Vista laptop and we usually just match up ip addresses and he puts in the network password and it works.I did the same thing with the windows 7 laptop and i can get to the network password stage, at which I do not know the password. All I know is that it isn't my log in password, my laptop's log in password, or my friends laptop password.
