Modem Samsung Sgh-z810
USB modem Samsung sgh-z810 works in Windows 7. 1. connect modem to USB, install all required drivers and software (if don't work, use compatibility mode with Windows XP) 2. install VMware Workstation 3. install Windows XP on VMware Workstation 4. run XP and install all required drivers and software for modem (it's automatic) 5. now you have internet on running Windows XP on VMware Workstation 6. disconnect from internet on Windows XP 7. run connection manager on Windows 7 8. and now trick, add new HW (VM>Settings>Add>Network Adapter>Host-only>Finish) Network Adapter 9. wait few seconds and connection manager find modem on windows 7 (WTF?) 10. now, you can connect to the internet using connection manager in Windows 7 11. close VMware Workstation and enjoy ;-) I don't know how it's possible, but it works! Cheers!

HSDPA Modem Stick Doesn't Work
my HSDPA GlobeTrotter modem stick doesn't work with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit version. My provider (T-mobile) supplies the newest driver, firmware, and connectionsoftware (web'n'walk manager). It isn't mentioned if the driver is compatible to 64 bit OS. As i first connected the stick to USB, windows displayed that the hardware was correctly installed, but after i installed the connectionsoftware it displayed that the hardware driver was not found, so i started troubleshouting and installed the driver again manualy. But the software can't find the modem to get a connection. Does someone have a clue?

Samsung SGH-Z810 Not Recognized
I installed Windows 7 on my toshiba notebook. Everything is fine, but I cant use my 3g modem. The samsung sgh-z810 works on vista and xp. on xp and vista, when i plug in first time to machine, it install a virtual cd, and run setup.exe from it (it is modem's the flash ram). after setup xp and vista recognize this hardware as modem (and card reader) and works. on Windows 7 after the first step (when setup.exe closed) the Windows 7 doesn't recognize the modem. the modem is not listed on device manager... i read, that will works if i make virtual xp mode, but my laptop not support this mode. i saved the drivers from XP with driver-magician, but i cant add device to the device manager. the hardware not shown in the list. i want to "add as older hardware" to add device in device manager, but i cant use the driver .inf files. when i click on it, the device's list is empty, can't choose from the manufacturers / devices list. i can use modem if i run virtual machine with installed XP on windows 7, but Windows 7 "alone" cant recognize this s h i t.

Samsung SGH Z810 Compatibility
Is someone using samsung sgh-z810 usb (3G, HSDPA), modem successfully with windows 7? I am trying to use it on my MSI WIND U-100 notebook. Windows 7 is running well on the notebook, I have no other complains or hardware issues. I am running the official evaluation copy Build 7100 downloaded from Microsoft. The modem installation consists in the following steps: (For testing purposes I've installed successfully under XP and Vista, the modem is working well) 1 - Plug in the modem in one of the USB slots 2 - The hardware is recognized as CD-drive (this is normal) 3 - The autoplay function starts, installing setup.exe - which installs Samsung's connection manager software 4 - after the installation of the connection manager software the system recognize the modem part of the device and installs the drivers from the "CD"-drive (from itself) 5 - after successfully install, the connection program runs from the pc and that's all. Under Windows 7 I can do the install until the step 3 - installing the connection manager software. In order to solve my problem I already did the following: - installing from the scratch (one by one) using the compatibility mode set to all of the XP-modes and all of the Vista modes - also running as administrator. No matter whatever I did, the system is not recognizing the modem part of the device (it is not included in the list of the devices - not even like unknown device) I would be more than happy if someone could help me to solve this problem PS: I did search for upgraded samsung software and drivers, but I couldn't find anything the device is not even listed on samsung's web-pages. I purchased the modem from official Hungarian mobile service provider.

Support For A Samsung, Eternity SGH-a867
I was using Samsung's PC Studio to sync my Eternity cell phone with Outlook but they are not going to support Windows 7 with a USB driver. I have set up my computer to run in XP mode but still cannot connect my phone. I guess if I can't get this to work I will have to buy a new phone running Windows Mobile. How do I get my computer to recognize my cell phone's USB port in XP Mode?Â

Samsung SGH-a867 Eternity Driver Install
Thus far, this method works on builds 7057 and 7077 x64. I can't imagine it working any differently on x86. I did have to re-perform the driver reinstall (step 5+) after I upgraded from 7057 to 7077. First: KEEP YOUR PHONE UNPLUGGED FROM THE COMPUTER Second: Download and Install Samsung PC Studio 3.2. The version I've downloaded was "Samsung_PC_Studio_321_GL6.exe" (MD5: 55B2561750C25BC0453DA9DDBD7DA216) for now it looks like you can still get it from here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...io_321_GL6.exe. Install the software. (note: Do not download and install that new version 5 crap, PC Studio 3 is already bloated enough and it sucks we're forced to use their interface, but the version 5 came with crashing 'usb com port' services and more bloatware) Third: Execute PC Studio's Automatic Updates Allow it to update what it wants (at the time of this writing, it won't ask you to update to version 5) or the program will bug the hell out of you. Who knows, you can probably do fine without the updates, but I'm telling you how I got it to work. Once complete, Close Samsung PC Studio 3. Fourth: Plug in your Phone with the USB cable. Windows will go Beeedoop and Baaadump. It will ask to find a driver online and it will fail. Just cancel out of everything. Fifth: Open up the Device Manager - I shouldn't have to include this section if you're Method 1: Run devmgmt.msc Method 2: If you have "My Computer" on your desktop, Right click on it, Click on Manage, Click on Device Manager on the Left Bar. Method 3: Click on the Start Menu, Right click on Computer, Click on Manage, Click on Device Manager on the Left Bar. Sixth: Install the SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem Driver Under Other Devices, Right click on SAMSUNG CDMA Technologies, then click on Update Driver Software. Click on Browse my computer for driver software. Then click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Click on Next. Click on Have Disk. Navigate to Samsung's Drivers folder. For me, it was in C:Program Files (x86)SamsungSamsung PC Studio 3USB Drivers2 Select ssm_mdm2.inf Click on OK. If Given a Choice (I seem to remember having to choose, but when I replayed this, it only gave me this one) click on SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem and not the other ones (I think one of them said Com Port and the other just USB drive.) They will install properly, but they won't communicate with Samsung PC Studio 3, rendering them effectively useless. Ignore Warning. Click on Yes. Windows has successfully updated your driver software! Click on OK. Finally: Open Samsung PC Studio 3. On your phone, navigate to the "Main Screen" (keep pressing the End-Call Button till you get home) and in a few seconds it should say SGH-A867 connected on the bottom right. If not, click on File > Connection, then click on USB, then click on Connect.

Modem Driver Problem / Samsung Rant (M540) Phone
i just installed Windows 7 64bit. I use a Samsung Rant m540 Cell Phone for my Internet connection. I cant get high speed on my road so its alot better than dial up, anyway ive used it for a few years and now i cant seem to get it installed. It works fine on other comps and i had a driver for win xp 64bit that works. I got it installed on the windows 7 and it shows up as the modem and says its working properly but it wont respond when i try to query the modem or connect to the Internet. Im pretty sure i just need a driver for the windows 7 for the phone as modem. But Sprint does not have a driver or program which supports it and neither does Samsung which created the phone. I googled for at least 5 hours with no success ive tried a few different drivers and no luck.

High Speed Mobile Internet (HSDPA Via USB) Unusable Due To Unreliability
it seems as if (a fully up-to-date) Windows 7 has a massive problem with high-speed mobile Internet connections (3G HSDPA) via modems connected to USB ports - and I really, really need to get this fixed :-) I have two very distinct devices which are affected: * Nokia E71 (a modern HSDPA-capable 3G UMTS mobile phone) - self-powered, connected via USB * (Vodafone) Huawei E172 (a dedicated 3G UMTS mobile broadband USB adapter) - system-powered (laptop), connected via USB Symptoms: After having successfully established an Internet connection, any amount of serious downstream load will result in * stop of downstream TCP/IP * the connection "hanging" (which materializes in TCP/IP disconnects due to timeouts later on) The devices themselves show symptoms similar to a hardware-level USB disconnect - it is extremely puzzling, though, that the TCP/IP stack apparently did not receive any indication of any problems. Trying to cleanly disconnect the TCP/IP connection via the Networking Centre (right-click -> disconnect) will result in a long wait (20-30 seconds?), with the Networking UI hanging partially during this time. Affected system: * Windows 7 (32bit) Enterprise * Lenovo T61 with 4 GB of memory (up-to-date with Lenovo Windows 7 RTM drivers / software / BIOS) Steps necessary to reproduce for me, and two additional people (those on a Lenovo T500 and Windows 7 (64bit), exact system parameters unknown): * fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) * install latest "Nokia Ovi 2.0" software (ships with modem "drivers" - largely an INF file, I believe) * connect Nokia E71 device * create dial-up connection (providers tested: O2 and Vodafone in Germany) * dial-up * put massive downstream load onto system, e.g. multiple Youtube streams or parallel downloads via a download manager to a source which does deliver (and make sure that your network delivers as well). [To reproduce with the Huawei E172, use the simplest steps to go online, using, e.g. Huawei's Mobile Partner software and/or a Vodafone-branded software both of which will install a USB/Serial-interface into the data card] I cannot stress enough the importance of downstream load - please verify with sustained loads of 300 kiloBYTE/s (KB/s) for extended periods of time (say over the course of 1 GB, although 50 MB volume have sufficed so far to reliably produce the disconnects). A Nokia E61i (which has only UMTS 3G capabilities with 384 kiloBIT/s downstream) seems to do fine. Note: In the locations I perform tests, the 3G UMTS networks deliver sustained data rates (via HSDPA) of up to effective 470 KB/s (7.2 MBit/s cells). As "serious" (as in HSDPA) UMTS coverage in Germany is common, this might have a major impact, e.g. for Windows 7 Netbooks. Finally, please allow me to speculate that any / all *high-speed* data transfer over the USB-Serial-layer is affected by this issue. What worries me most is the misbehaviour of the Nokia E71, which is self-powered and has a "driver" that should be very low in complexity (I can only see usbser_lowerflt.sys as being owned by Nokia) This behaviour of Windows 7 makes this a critical regression for me - a fully patched Windows XP worked flawlessly on that very hardware (laptop / BIOS / USB devices); this specific Huawei E172 additionally is known to work flawlessly on my desktop system, using a fully patched Vista installation. Note: There are additional, independent reports of this issue on the Internet - try searching for reports on (frequent) disconnects in relationship with HSPDA / USB and Huawei / Nokia devices.

I've tried older modems (lucent) and newer (conextant) with drivers designed for Vista/XP and no luck installing them. After 4 modems I can't believe none are compatible. Any suggestion?. (only want the to use the modem for Fax or voice mail.) P.S. Also all are internal modems, might have to go external USB to get one to work

As you plug it in, nothing happens because windows doesn't recognize it at all as a modem. The driver doesnt work. I supose It will need a brand new driver in order to work. So Microsoft windows 7 developers, wake up and begin to work on a solution. This kind of modems are getting more and more used.

Problems Connecting Wirelessly To Modem
New upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista results in problems connecting wirelessly to my modem (but fine via Ethernet cable) I've got an HP desktop (Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9450 2.66GHZ, 8GB RAM) with a Foxconn 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless system adapter. I also have a Motorola Wireless Cable Modem Gateway SBG900 (and I have another laptop connected wirelessly to it with no problems -but still running Vista). I am running Norton Internet Security. I just upgraded from 64bit Vista to 64bit Windows 7 -not a full install, kept all of my settings. At the end of the install Windows 7 asked for my wireless settings and when I entered in my WEP key it kept telling me it was incorrect.  I gave up and completed the install and my computer picked up all the wireless networks in the area (including mine) but it still could not connect. When I click "Troubleshoot problems" it says: If you are on a home network, reset your wireless router or access point: 1. Unplug or turn off your router. 2. Wait at least 10 seconds. 3. Turn it back on or plug it back into the power outlet. I've tried all the windows 7 suggested fixes (above) and reset my router/rebooted my computer but no luck (though my vista laptop continued to work well wirelessly). I updated to all the latest drivers (including one for my Foxconn wireless system adapter) and also all the latest windows updates. No luck. Whenever I plug an ethernet cable directly from my modem into my computer I can connect without problems to the internet, but as soon as I disconnect, reboot the modem, reboot the computer, and attempt connection to my wireless network, no luck. Then, following the advice given gtcfanatic (which actually solved his problem), I accessed my wireless modem's internet gateway and changed the security settings several times (rebooting the modem each time). I tried moving from WEP to WPA, to WPA-2 (with AES and with TKID). No luck on my desktop, though each time I did this and I reauthenticated with my Vista laptop, my laptop could access the internet no problem. Finally I removed all internet security from my modem and created an open/unencrypted network, and I still could not connect -I received the same error yet again. (Every time I made changes I unplugged the modem for 10 seconds and plugged it in again, and tested it with my Vista laptop which worked each time). Any other ideas? Other things to test?

Huawei E156g Mobile Modem Freezes
Huawei e156g Mobile Broadband USB Stick HP Pavilion dv7 2070ea Windows 7 Professional 64bit The laptop came preinstalled with Vista Home 64bit and i was able to use the mobile broadband without any issues. I have installed Windows 7 Pro 64 in a dual boot config and it runs fine on wired or wireless connections, but when i try to use the mobile broadband i run into issues. After the modem driver and software install and a few restarts I was able to get all the devices in the device manager to be happy, and i was able to connect via the 3 Connect software and access the internet. But after a few minutes Windows will inevitably lock up, regardless of what program is being used. The screen will freeze, there will be zero harddrive activity and the only course of action is to hold down the power button The mobile broadbands company site says that the vista drivers should be happy on windows 7, but something isnt happy. I really need to resolve this as my mobile broadband allows me to connect to various servers for work via its allowed IP address. Is this the modem, the USB bus or something else? I have checked the event log and there isnt anything useful in there.
