Dell Precision M2400 HSDPA Driver

Was just wondering if any of you guys are using the Dell Precision M2400. There's a slot at the battery compartment which fits a SIM card, plus it shows that it's got HSDPA capabilities on their site;

However,

I am unable to find the driver which is workable with Win 7 64 bit. It doesn't show much on their driver download page as well;

Would appreciate some idea on how to go about this!

LAN Driver For Dell Precision M60
just installed release 7100 and am having trouble with the LAN connectivity.

My Dell Precision M60 has the Broadcom 570x Gigabit card, but although Windows has detected it, installed the drivers, and reports it to be working, it's not.

Device Manager reports it's working properly, it's using the b57nd60x.sys driver, but the tray icon reports Not Connected. The cable works fine on a different machine, but on my laptop I don't even get any lights on the network port.

It was working fine when it had XP running on it - any ideas?

Dell Precision 470 Raid Driver
I'm running a 2006 Dell Precision 470 workstation with the onboard "CERC" Raid controller, which I understand is a software-based controller.

To install Vista x64 Ultimate I had to use the Raid driver (made by Adaptec, I believe) from the XP x64 installation disc.  The date on the driver is April 15, 2005.

My question is this:  Do I have a prayer of installing Win7 x64 on this hardware using the same strategy and maintaining my ability to use two drives in a Raid 0 configuration for good performance?  Or has technology moved on to the point where I should just back up my entire system and start afresh?

By the way, I notice that even Vista x64 won't even display the "Enable advanced performance" checkbox on C:, which is the Raid 0 array.

Assuming the answer to the above is "back up the system and deconfigure the onboard Raid", is there a system-supported software Raid capability in Windows 7 with which I can make my two drives back into a single C: with double the performance of one drive?

Dell Precision M70 Driver Problems
I just installed Windows 7 (Enterprise) on Dell Precision M70 Laptop.The M70 previosly had WinXP so this was a custom (full) installation, not an upgrade.  I had a complete backup of the XP installation, expecting the full install would erase everything, but my existing folders were all preserved and the old WINDOWS folder was saved as WINDOWS.OLD.  I had three driver problems that Window7 could not resolve automatically (WHY NOT???)1) Sound card.

Sigmatel STAC 975X AC97. Solved with Dell R99254 (just search for this).2)  "PCI Simple Communications Controller" (Device manager error).  Apparently this is about a TI PCI chipset in the PCMCIA slot with smart card reader.  Solved with Dell R1651773) Display Adapter was using generic PNP which would not allow wide screen selection (fuzzy).  Solved by downloading x86 Win7 driver from NVIDIA "nVidia - Display - NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400".

This unzipped into a bunch of files but the SETUP.EXE would not run, with error message "The NVidia Setup Program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware, setup will now quit."  Solved by Device Manager - properties on the generic PNP driver - Update driver - Browse my computer - Let me pick - Have Disk - (browse to unzipped nVidia and select NV_DISP.Inf) - select FX 1400 and install (ignore warning about incompatible with hardware).I have found the 'have disk' option is often the only way to override windows when it's "too smart" to let you install the correct driver.

Dell Precision M2300 Driver Issue NVIDIA Quadro FX360M
Ten days ago I installed Windows 7 RC (64 bit), since then I am struggling with the display driver, every now and then persistently getting blue screen that recommends me to reinstall the driver. I tried with NVIDIA 186.3 (Beta) -

the same problem, then reinstalled the driver, renstalled  the Windows (fresh copy, no upgrade), then uninstalled the driver and installed my old driver for Vista provided by DELL. It seems that I need to roll back to Vista but I already like the 7..
Fortunately it didn't go blue again wihile writing about this.

Dell Precision 670
I have bought a Dell Precision 670 and I want to run Win 7 Ultimate(32bit) on it. I checked on Dell's website, they do not support it. The only reason I bought it was to run Win 7. I wish I had checked dell's site earlier. Can some one please guide me on how to install win 7 on it (I mean how do I find all the drivers for it) and may be steps to watch out for. Machine has XP Sp3 installed and I want to format and do a fresh install. Here are specs of the machine:

Dell Precision T3400 Can't Complete Installation
I also have a Dell Precision T3400. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (x86). The installation completed successfully. When Windows 7 is booting, the desktop and taskbar appear, and Windows is "Setting up Personalized Settings (Internet preferences, desktop, themes, etc.) for the first time. Right after that completes, the system restarts, endlessly looping.

Here's what I have done/tried/noticed:

   1. I have already applied the A08 BIOS patch. No change.

   2. I have swapped out the videocard to a totally different older video card. No change.

   3. I can enter Safe Mode with Networking without any trouble. Things seem to work properly in Safe Mode.

   4 . If I go to safe mode and assign the Win 7 drivers from nVidia (NVS 290), instead of Windows rebooting after the Windows 7 startup, I get a blue screen with the message "Driver is mismanaging system PTEs"

   5. I have applied the Intel matrix storage manager updates (didn't apply to my machine), and Intel chipset software updates listed at the Dell Driver site (for Win 7 x86).

UPDATE: I got it to work after 5 hours of messing with it. Why do people think computers are productivity tools? I don't get it. Anyways, after unchecking all of the startup items and services and adding them back in, rebooting a zillion times, I found that I could break the cycle of booting and restarting.

The key was to run msconfig and  turn OFF the Service named "Power"  (Manufacturer: Microsoft). With that service off, I can boot into Windows 7 and even load the nVidia Windows 7 drivers for the display adapter. Hope that helps and saves you the hours I spent on it!! Maybe the A09 BIOS update will fix this?

Dell Precision T3400 Continuously Reboots After Splash Screen
Ok, so I decided to go from the RC to the RTM...all my experiences with Win 7 have been spectacular. No incompatibilities etc.  Dell also lists the Precision T3400 as compatible with Windows 7 on its support site, and claims that there are no additional drivers needed (all are available in Win 7).

I'm running the T3400 in a factory-configured RAID10 setup with an Intel ICH9R controller on the motherboard. Installed Win 7 beta, RC x64...no issues.

Once I upgraded to RTM, however, things got good - right after the 'Starting Windows' splash screen after installation, the computer reboots (and keeps doing so, until I do something to stop it).  Going into Safe Mode doesn't help, as Windows says 'Setup cannot be completed in Safe Mode'...

I've tried installing on just one HDD (with no RAID), disabling RAID, doing RAID0, RAID1, RAID10...nothing helps.  Have also tried manually adding Intel ICH9 drivers through setup, but it wouldn't take (driver could not be installed...).

I have now reinstalled the RC, and it's working fine!  It's the RTM that is driving me nuts...obviously there is some kind of driver incompatiblity here.  How do I go about resolving this?  This is a standard config T3400 and I can't believe that I would be the only user to experience these issues.

Vista Upgrade To Win7 Failed - Dell Precision M6300 Laptop
I am having problems upgrading Vista to Win7rc ultimate, on my 6 month old Dell Precision M6300 laptop. When I do the compatibility test online it says we are OK to install/upgrade. When it fails the install it gives me the below error message:

The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

An error prevented a required compliance check from completing. Cancel the installation and try upgrading again.

Upgrading Windows will affect the following features:

Windows Mail is no longer included in Windows; however your e-mail files and settings will still be available after the upgrade. To send and receive e-mail you will need to install a new e-mail program. You can get e-mail programs from other software manufacturers or from the Microsoft website.

Upgrading Windows will affect the following devices and/or programs:

These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers.

CSR BlueCore Devices: DELL Mobile 360 in DFU - CSR Driver

I have disabled the Bluetooth in the BIOS, and turned off the 2 bluetooth service but is keeps finding it. How can I get the install to go through? I don't need the mail system or the Bluetooth. Is there a way to skip the compatibility check and force the install.

I have installed this Win7rc OS on 7 year old computers, why can I get it to load on my new Dell?

( 7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd )

All my peripherals work:)

But Win7 doesn't see me raid setup! I have tried to find win7 drivers for it, but without any luck.
The drivers I have been using are

Serial ATAAdaptec CERC SATA1.56ch Driver
and

Is there any chance that I can use any other drivers or that these drivers for win7 will be released on a later stage? Maybe one of you guys can track these drivers down?

HSDPA Modem Stick Doesn't Work
my HSDPA GlobeTrotter modem stick doesn't work with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit version. My provider (T-mobile) supplies the newest driver, firmware, and connectionsoftware (web'n'walk manager). It isn't mentioned if the driver is compatible to 64 bit OS. As i first connected the stick to USB, windows displayed that the hardware was correctly installed, but after i installed the connectionsoftware it displayed that the hardware driver was not found, so i started troubleshouting and installed the driver again manualy. But the software can't find the modem to get a connection.

Does someone have a clue?

High Speed Mobile Internet (HSDPA Via USB) Unusable Due To Unreliability
it seems as if (a fully up-to-date) Windows 7 has a massive problem with high-speed mobile Internet connections (3G HSDPA) via modems connected to USB ports - and I really, really need to get this fixed :-)

I have two very distinct devices which are affected:

* Nokia E71 (a modern HSDPA-capable 3G UMTS mobile phone) - self-powered, connected via USB
* (Vodafone) Huawei E172 (a dedicated 3G UMTS mobile broadband USB adapter) - system-powered (laptop), connected via USB

Symptoms:

After having successfully established an Internet connection, any amount of serious downstream load will result in

* stop of downstream TCP/IP
* the connection "hanging" (which materializes in TCP/IP disconnects due to timeouts later on)

The devices themselves show symptoms similar to a hardware-level USB disconnect - it is extremely puzzling, though, that the TCP/IP stack apparently did not receive any indication of any problems.

Trying to cleanly disconnect the TCP/IP connection via the Networking Centre (right-click -> disconnect) will result in a long wait (20-30 seconds?), with the Networking UI hanging partially during this time.

Affected system:

* Windows 7 (32bit) Enterprise
* Lenovo T61 with 4 GB of memory (up-to-date with Lenovo Windows 7 RTM drivers / software / BIOS)

Steps necessary to reproduce for me, and two additional people (those on a Lenovo T500 and Windows 7 (64bit), exact system parameters unknown):

* fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit)
* install latest "Nokia Ovi 2.0" software (ships with modem "drivers" - largely an INF file, I believe)
* connect Nokia E71 device
* create dial-up connection (providers tested: O2 and Vodafone in Germany)
* dial-up
* put massive downstream load onto system, e.g. multiple Youtube streams or parallel downloads via a download manager to a source which does deliver (and make sure that your network delivers as well).

[To reproduce with the Huawei E172, use the simplest steps to go online, using, e.g. Huawei's Mobile Partner software and/or a Vodafone-branded software both of which will install a USB/Serial-interface into the data card]

I cannot stress enough the importance of downstream load - please verify with sustained loads of 300 kiloBYTE/s (KB/s) for extended periods of time (say over the course of 1 GB, although 50 MB volume have sufficed so far to reliably produce the disconnects). A Nokia E61i (which has only UMTS 3G capabilities with 384 kiloBIT/s downstream) seems to do fine.

Note: In the locations I perform tests, the 3G UMTS networks deliver sustained data rates (via HSDPA) of up to effective 470 KB/s (7.2 MBit/s cells). As "serious" (as in HSDPA) UMTS coverage in Germany is common, this might have a major impact, e.g. for Windows 7 Netbooks.

Finally, please allow me to speculate that any / all *high-speed* data transfer over the USB-Serial-layer is affected by this issue. What worries me most is the misbehaviour of the Nokia E71, which is self-powered and has a "driver" that should be very low in complexity (I can only see usbser_lowerflt.sys as being owned by Nokia)

This behaviour of Windows 7 makes this a critical regression for me - a fully patched Windows XP worked flawlessly on that very hardware (laptop / BIOS / USB devices); this specific Huawei E172 additionally is known to work flawlessly on my desktop system, using a fully patched Vista installation.

Note: There are additional, independent reports of this issue on the Internet - try searching for reports on (frequent) disconnects in relationship with HSPDA / USB and Huawei / Nokia devices.

Mouse Acceleration - Not Enhance Pointer Precision
I know this is a very popular topic dating back to when Mouse Acceleration was first introduced in WindowsXP. There are registry fixes for both XP and Vista but I was wondering if Microsoft had any insight to this issue.

Disabling "Enhance Pointer Precision" in the Mouse options through the Control Panel does not completely remove mouse acceleration for many games (Counter-Strike, etc). I'm not sure why Microsoft keeps pushing this 'enhancement' since gamers have been complaining about it for ~8 years but nevertheless, it's still around.

I have an old Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 and I'm not about to go spend upwards of $50 for a new mouse that has drivers capable of removing this annoyance when I have a perfectly capable mouse already.

There has to be some type of registry work around to completely remove Mouse Acceleration from Windows 7, like there was for XP / Vista.

Can someone please tell me what I need to change / remove from Windows 7 to COMPLETELY disable this setting (not sure why "Enhance Pointer Precision" doesn't completely disable it from even existing on Windows).

Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick Problem
I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. My old OS was Windows XP SP3, so I did a clean install. I can run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 in Windows XP SP2 compatibilty mode, no problem, and I can fly a plane from the keyboard controls.

However, it does not recognise my Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick, (joystick is enabled).

According to the Windows 7 Compatibilty Center,

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx,

this joystick is compatible with my version of Windows 7.

The joystick appears in the Windows 7 'Devices and Printers' window, the latest driver is installed (Date 21/06/2006, Version 6.1.7600.16385), the device is 'working properly' and I can Test and Calibrate it successfully.

So why isn't it recognised by Flight Simulator, and what do I have to do to use the joystick?
