Run Windows 7 On A Dell Precision 370?
Jul 23, 2011run Windows 7 on a Dell Precision 370? I have seen ppl say it is running. I had 32bit Windows 7 Ultimate working on my 370 for a few minutes. Then I installed Win 7 SP1 and it crashed. Now, I cannot get it to start or even freshly install again. I get Blue Screen Of Death ...F4 error, and it reboots. Does anyone have it running at all on a 370 or after SP1 it failed like mine? And which version of Win 7?

Jan 22, 2010My Dell Precision 670 will not boot Windows 7 after upgrading the memory to 8GB.Configuration follows:*BIOS A06*2 x 4GB SIMMS in slots 1 and 2. These are correct WS670/4GB PC3200 EEC registered modules as recommended.*memory fan is installed*3 SCSI drives with Adaptec 7901 RAID controller.I've got a dual boot setup, and the system boots and runs fine from the alternate OS (Win XP x64) just fine. The BIOS lists the memory as installed and shows no errors or problems. A memory test indicates that the memory is okay. When I try to do a boot repair from Win7, the Win7 OS is not listed and installing the correct RAID and SCSI drivers from the repair window does not make it visible. The partition is not, in fact, visible from the repair tool. When I put the old memory back in (4 x 512mb SIMMS in slots 1,2,3,4) the system boots and runs fine with Windows 7. What's up with this?

Mar 28, 2012i have a dell inspiron 545s windows 7 home premium from dell.it is a desktop.it is about 2 years old.a few months ago a virus shut my computer down and i paid $275 for the software and software warranty. i also paid an additional $119 for 2 years unlimited technical support. after the technician got my computer up and running again i discovered the the audio for everything (Internet for music and movies) is very low and inaudible and also scrambled. i couldn't fix it myself for weeks so i called dell for help. they checked and discovered the speakers are fine. they told me to pay $59 for a technician to look into it (someone on a website says it's only good for 30 days) and fix the sound system if he could, otherwise i would have to buy a sound card of other hardware and install it myself. my computer which includes the monitor and keyboard and mouse only costs $650. if i shell out anymore i should buy another computer.i like my computer, and i'm trying not to throw anything of the sort into the landfill if i can help it.besides i'm out of a job. do you think i should pay dell any further since that problem only cropped up after they fixed the computer and i wasn't even using the audio when it went down?

Sep 20, 2012Brand new Dell Precision M4700. You can restart or shutdown the laptop at numerous times and on occassion the laptop gets stuck at the splash screen (where the windows come together), and will sit there for hours on end. Sometimes a single hard reset will allow it to boot, and be on it's merry way. System runs great once it boots into Windows.I'm not running any external drives on it. I've encountered issue on and off docking station, or running on power and or battery.M4700 with core i7, 16 GB Ram, Quadro K2000M, 256 GB Seagate OEM SSD.I checked hard drive with HDTune, and it checked out okay, except for 1 communication error, so to be on the safe side, I had the drive replaced. Still did it.Did a repair installation of Windows 7, still doing it. There's nothing different installed on this machine that isn't the exact same as the M4600s at the office.Is there a log that can be looked at, and or turned on to see what's causing it to hang at the splash screen? A few times it will go past the splash screen, but never displays the welcome screen (displays just a black screen).

May 3, 2011I was cleaning out some stuff in storage and ran across a Windows NT 4 Workstation CD (in original jacket). On a whim, I made an ISO of the CD and actually got it working under VirtualBox 4.0.6 running in Windows 7 x64 Ultimate w/SP1.
Windows NT 4 wouldn't recognize a 8GB virtual disk drive, so I made it 4GB with an assigned 1GB of ram and 32MB of video.
Total installation time was less than 15 minutes on a quad core w/8GB of ram.
The built in browser is Internet Explorer 2.0 It does require a valid CD-KEY to install NT Workstation 4, just in case you were wondering.
