SLI Crashes, Drivers

I just installed the Windows 7 Beta and installing all the drivers and software were a breeze. I was pretty amazed at the performance compared to Vista. My boot-times were about 20% faster than Vista and the "Aero" effect appears smoother for me. One problem i encountered was that I could not run any games including Counter-Strike:Source and Crysis without locking up. I have a pair of 8800's paired up in SLI and all the spec's are running in stock clock. Does Windows 7 not support SLI at the moment? I am running the NVIDIA 181.22 WHQl Drivers.

ASUS P5N32-SLI DELUXE Drivers
I have an Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard with 4 GB of memory, an ATI 4800 series Video, running the latest BIOS version 502. My primary HD is a Raptor 150DB and my secondary is a 400GB WD. My DVD is a Plextor PX-775A. They are all SATA.

This problem crosses both platforms; 32bit and 64bit, It also does not matter if I have upgraded or preformed a fresh install of Windows 7.

Note: This problem has been apparent in EVERY official release of Windows 7 and all leaks up though the last leak of 7264 (64 bit).

Note: This problem does NOT happen in Vista, either platforms (32 or 64 bit).

I have absolutely no problem installing Windows 7. It runs absolute smoothly after the install. The problem happens when transferring single large files. I get a BSOD after a few minutes into the transfer. This also happens when Acronis does a backup of the system.

I did buy and install a new Gigabyte motherboard and new memory. The problem went away, as I knew it would. However Windows 7 ran so much slower I RMA'ed the motherboard and memory.

I feel that it might be the chipset drivers? Which I have installed the Vista64 bit chipset driver, which seemed to cause the BSOD even faster.

The dump file was analyzed and I was told it was pointing to an nvida driver problem with my video?

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Drivers
I installed Windows 7 on a system running a A8N32-SLI Deluxe. Two drivers didn't install. And they won't either. They didn't work in Vista too.

The MIDI and the Game Port has to be disabled in the bios.

Thought I would post this just in case anyone else is using this board.

Display Drivers / Restore To SLI Mode
I have been adjusting my DRAM timings in the BIOS and lose the ability to reboot onto Windows 7 64-bit. So, I power down and reboot and I get a black/blank screen and 2 beeps from the MB. So, I turn off my computer and I have to remove my Graphics card to access the OS again. Can anyone suggest an option or two that will help me restore to SLI mode?

Asus Motherboard (P5N32-Sli Premium) Drivers
I've been on to Asus tech support regarding Win 7 drivers for my motherboard (P5N32-Sli Premium) and here is the response:

We will release most drivers for Windows 7 to cover most motherboards after Win 7 is formal released. But I could not guarantee 100% that there will be some drivers for the motherboard aiming at Windows7 at present.

ASUS Customer Service Center(China)

Just thought folks should know. As to what "most motherboards" means, well I guess we'll have to wait until some time after the release, but I probably wouldn't hold my breath that it'll be this side of Christmas...but then again I could be wrong .

Drivers For Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
I just installed Windows 7 64-bit onto my gaming computer, as seen in my system specs. My main concern is, I have an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard, and I don't know if Windows updated the drivers for the chipset or the onboard audio.

I tried to download the chipset and audio drivers from Asus, using Vista 64-bit, but they would not install normally... When I tried to use the Asus Install, it would say I am not using the correct operating system. So, I went straight to the setup.exe file, and it "installed" the stuff, but nothing like how I have seen on either Vista or XP. I doubt the "install" did anything.

So what can I do? I'm thinking my chipset is what is causing my loss in FPS for my games... BTW, I am using build 7229.

Asus A8N-SLI Premium Drivers Not Compatible
Installed Win 7 on Asus  A8N-SLI Premium, FX57 @ 3.0Ghz running in SLI. When I first installed Win 7 it booted up fine (no sound). Installed creative win 7 drivers and latest nVidia vid drivers. The next boot got black screen. Went into safe mode and selected comaptiblity mode for Creative drivers (message said I couldn't change compatibility in safe mode but tried it anyway and used win XP service pack 2). When I rebooted it worked and I got sound and the Creative control panel.

No SLI at this point. Went into the MS update and found a new vid driver (WDDM 1.0) listed as optional download. Installed that driver (got message that it failed to install). rebooted and a short time later SLI was up and running (device manager shows driver installed). Installed DOD game and it plays fairly well (not as good as on Vista machine) and there are some visual anomalies on occassion.

Now the question. The mobo install disc produced a message that it was not compatible. The newest nVidia platform driver software when installed produces a black screen and a retore in safe mode was the only way I could find to get it operational again. Do I need the platform drivers?Everything seems to work OK without them.

PS so far I really like the OS vs XP and Vista understanding it still has growing pains. The Blue tooth works extremely well on my system.

Nvidia 8800 SLI Graphics Card Drivers Crashing / Bsod
I have a Dell XPS 630i which had previously been on Vista-32. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit with a custom install and found myself in a world of driver pain. The drivers included from microsoft, as well as the drivers from nvidia, are all crashing constantly.

Any time I try and run any game I wind up with the driver restarting itself, the game becoming unplayable, and strange multi-colored pixels all across the screen. Also, I occasionally get BSODs. This driver seems to want to fail and "recover" all the time making my system almost completely unusable. Sometimes this happens when doing simple things like opening Internet Explorer

So far I have:

Re-installed Windows 7 - 64 TWICE

Tried almost every NVidia Driver for the card listed under windows 7 64 (Used Driver Sweeper, Safe Mode, etc)

Tried playing with fan speeds to see if it was an overheating issue (its not)

Debated on throwing my expensive paperweight out the window.

Debated on being more reasonable and chucking the graphics cards out the window, buying an ATI card, and never buying another NVidia product again

Debating going back to Vista

I am at a complete loss as to what I should do from here. Any help would be appreciated.

 system's specs:

Mobo - Nforce 650 SLI (or whatever mutilated version of that Dell ships)

RAM - 4gb Corsair Dominator (not OCed)
Processor - Q6600 @ 2.4ghz (not OCed)

GFX Card(s) - 2x Nvidia geforce 8800 GT in SLI - 1gb total video RAM (also.. not OCed.. in fact, I haven't OCed anything, so this is NOT an OCing issue)

All of the above were stable in Vista-32. Never touched any of the overclocking options. Everything in the case is what Dell shipped and at their settings!

NVidia Display Drivers (9800 GT) Constant BSOD Crashes
Since I've installed windows 7 64 bit I have been receiving constant BSOD crashes sometimes over 5 times a day. I researched around and found a program called blue screen view to log my crashes and kind of saw that the nvidia drivers were causing the blue screens most of the time however other drivers cause it too sometimes.

When I uninstall my nvidia 9800 gt driver that windows update installs my computer runs fine with no crashes. However when I let it install the driver or install a new driver over that one it always crashes.

If I uninstall the driver and then try and reinstall just the new driver I get an error every time saying that the NVidia setup doesnt recognize my hardware and the setup will exit. So I cannot even install the new drivers without windows update installing it first.

I have been reading a lot of similar stories where people with NVidia cards are having BSOD crashes constantly. Microsoft and NVidia you really need to fix this because my computer is pretty much unusable for the past few weeks now. Any one have any fixes or ideas how to fix this problem?

EXPLORER.EXE Crashes, MMC.EXE Crashes, Moviemaker.exe Error
I want to love Win7 so badly, but this is just crazy. I'm about to go back to good old XP, simply for the stability. I'm about fed up with Windows 7 after only using it for two weeks. Off of a brand new and formatted clean install, with only Norton NIS 2010, Itunes, Adobe Reader, and Firefox 3.5.7 installed, I get constant explorer.exe crashes.

Shortly followed by an mmc.exe crash, then it just gets caught up in a never-ending explorer.exe crash that only a reboot resolves, for a short time. All drivers are up to date, and all Win 7 updates have been applied.

I've even formatted and re-installed Win7 only to have explorer begin crashing a day later. This is all on a stock Dell Inspiron 545 quad core, 8GB RAM, etc. I'm very tech savvy and am about jump off of the Win 7 bandwagon. Maybe the Apple Mac commercials are correct, another fumbled attempt at a stable OS from Microsoft?

After extensive reading, it appears that many others are suffering through this ____ also. Some get it while attempting to right click any icon, some when launching apps, some, like me , for no apparent reason at all. I don't ever get the BSOD, but the computer is essentially non-functional due to explorer restarting all the time.

I've done a ton of reading and have tried sfc /scannow, which found no errors. I've tried shellexview, to no avail for the context handlers. I've uninstalled and re-installed all non-MS apps. I've tried everything that I've read, and it eventually starts crashing again. It is very random, and I can find no patterns that cause the explorer crashing.

It works for two days, then goes haywire. Sometimes it only works for an hour before the explorer crashes begin. And yes, this is a fully licensed and legal copy of Win 7 Pro that I purchased through CDW. A side note, this computer ran WIN XP perfectly. All hardware has been tested and is perfect. If anyone has found a fix for this issue, then please chime in! Below are the errors that populate the Event Viewer:

Activation context generation failed for "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryMovieMaker.Exe".Error in manifest or policy file "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryWLMFDS.DLL" on line 8. Crossfire And SLI Support
I've been doing research and I cannot find a definitive answer to whether or not Windows 7 supports crossfire or sli. When installed on Upon installing Windows 7, even though crossfire is mentioned, I'm not noticing a performance increase as much as I did on WinXP.

Some forums say that it is not supported, some say it is supported but bottlenecked, some even said that Microsoft looks down upon configurations of that sort. Is there a good answer?

SLI With 2 Different Cards Same GPU
I have two 9500GT video cards one id Evga and one is BFG they are both 1GB DDR2. I have looked into it but you experts will know. I think it's possible to set up a crossfire configuration. It might not be worth doing but i would mostly do it for fun and to see if I can get it working. My current mobo supports it and would like to play with it.

Is it possible with the same GPU but different companies and possibly slightly different specs on the rest of the card? I thought if it the same GPU you could do it.

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
Has anyone had any joy installing Windows 7 Ultimate x86 onto a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe?

I have a RAID0 configured using the Silicon Raid chip. I've had this running under XP, XP64, Vista64 previously.

During the install I get to the prompt (the old F6 prompt) to load drivers, I have download some drivers from ASUS, Silicon and MS but none seem to work.

I don't think it is the RAID0 that is really an issue as I also have another disk connect to the Silicon chip, that is not configured for RAID but it fails to detect that drive as well.

I've followed a few threads on here and other websites, but I cannot seem to get around this.

I've tried:

Silicon Image - Support | Search Results
Microsoft Update Catalog Some of these, but there are loads.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Nvidia 7950GTX No SLI Just Blue Screen
Im running Windows7 x64 (build7600) with 2 GeForce 7950GTX graphic cards but it won't let me switch to SLI mode, it will just crash into a blue screen of death. I also tried installing the new 190.62 drivers assuming that was the problem but i get a message during installation "The setup program could not find drivers that are commpatible with my current hardware" and im stuck with no SLI action.

I also have 4GB RAM installed but Windows 7 says that only 2.5 are usable. That's something that is also getting on my nerves and i've tried a couple things that i see in other threads but with no luck. but it still runs pretty fast.

A8N32-SLI Deluxe Driver Issues
I've been getting a lot of internet hangs that require multiple retrys to get the website and programs 'not responding' for 20-30 seconds, though the latter has lessened since install.

It's been suggested that I update the chipset drivers and see if it helps. The problem is I can't seem to find updated nVidia chipset drivers for Windows 7 (32bit, though I probably should be using 64 so I can access the rest of my 4Gb of RAM).

I've spent the better part of the day looking for them. If anyone knows where they can be found (the 64 as well if possible) a link would be greatly appreciated.

M2N SLI Deluxe Audio Driver
I've looked at the asus website and they don't have an audio driver out yet for windows 7. I have tried using the windows xp and vista one just to see if those would work. Neither did.

The problem I am having though, is that I can only use my Left and Right front speakers, I can't use my C-Sub or rear speakers at all. When I run the windows 7 sound wizard or whatever I can click to test the speakers and I hear the sound coming from them so I know that they are working but nothing else will play on those speakers.

Currently I have uninstalled all of the asus audio drivers so I'm just running whatever came with windows 7 ultimate.

Asus M2N32 Sli Wireless Edition
Just got windows 7 the other day for my laptop and I'm loving it so far. Runs absolutely fab on my HP DV9000. However I'm having some issues with wireless driver compatibility for my gaming machine. I'm running 64 bit windows 7 and I'm having to manually install the 64 bit driver for the built in wireless card for my motherboard. I install the driver, it detects the device no problem, and I can even see wireless networks. However when I try to connect to my home network, after I put the WPA-PSK passphrase in, it automatically fails to connect right away. I am convinced this is a driver issue because it works flawlessly on my vista ultimate 64 bit install.

Has anyone else had a problem with this board/driver?

The internal wireless card is the Asus WiFi AP-Solo module (realtek 81somethingorother chip name, I'll grab it when I get home)
