Nvidia GTX 680 SLI Crashes?
Jul 18, 2012
I have a brand new Alienware R4 with dual GTX 680 SLI. my computer often crashes when either trying to load a game or, when trying to run the windows experience index test.I read one post somewhere who said their problem was fixed when he/she reduced the windows color setting to 16bit. Well.. that worked for me last night but, this afternoon it has already crashed on me 2 twice. Once all on it's own, the second time when I tried to play Lord of the Rings Online.

I recently purchased a new Graphic Card (Nvidia Geforce 670) and ever since I've experienced random freezes and moments where it's drivers stopped working. When the freeze happens It'll remain frozen until I reset the PC and if I've speakers on it'll blow out a nasty BZZZZZZ sound.the freezes appear to occur randomly. It can go days without them and sometimes (like now, I had less then an hour inbetween)In addition to that I quite frequently (daily at least) have my monitors go black and I get the "Nvidia Drivers stopped working" message. If I'm lucky it'll revert back to a previous stage where it worked fine and all I've to do is reboot the programs i'm running. If I'm unlucky, it doesn't stop until i've pushed the reset button.I don't know for sure that it's the new card causing it but considering the circumstances and the issues I'd say it is. Before this card I ran AMD's 6970 without any issues.
I'm running
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k, Sandy Bridge.
12GB ram
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 MoBo
Nvidia Geforce GTX 670

I got motherboard: Asus m2n-mx se plus. Video Card : nVIDIA nForce 6150SE (6100-430), Onboard Audio : nVIDIA MCP61 , D-Link DFE-520TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter .
My Motherboard comes with Vista drivers, but I heard that even that are creating problems for video and audio. Should I download any specific drivers beforehand?

Anyone know how to activate fullscreen video on second monitor?

As for the default Windows 7 online-update drivers, no option.
Any help?

I've recently added a second Nvidia GTX 560 Ti graphics card to my system running in SLI mode however on random occasions on boot-up, the graphics drivers are not being loaded so I have to load them manually. I am also running dual monitors so when the boot problem occurs all my desktop settings are thrown out the window because without the drivers the system only recognizes one monitor. I am assuming this is all caused by my settings are not being saved on close down.

I have been debating between which one I want to go with for my next card. Apparently, AMD isn't going to be updating the driver for the 4800 series to Windows 8 (which really ticks me off...). That is why I'm considering nVidia for the first time. Few things I want to do with a new card:
- Gaming at 1920x1080 graphics maxed, or close to at frame rates of at least 60.
- Some bitcoin mining (nothing serious, just curious about it), and possibly some other GPGPU related stuff.
Also, the card needs to work well in both Windows and Linux x64 as I use both. The only nVidia Ive ever worked with was an old Quadro FX 1400, which I put into a Dell Optiplex GX280, and it runs great under Linux and Windows.

Okay so this graphics card has been used for say, a year? Then one day the fan started malfunctioning. It would spin for a bit, then stop. sometimes it still twitches a bit. Recently I cleaned the card but still nothing.

i have just built a new rig and i'm having a couple of problems. as i said in the title i have a msi 560 on a asus p67 mobo with a intel i5 2500.i've had the computer for about 2 months now and a few days ago, when i started the computer, a message saying "disk read error, push ctrl + alt + delete" came up. i restarted my comp' a few times and it eventually booted. then today the same message came up and i went through the same process and i got the computer to boot again.this i could deal with however, my computer now has been on for about 16 hours (no big deal) but now it wont play Internet videos and huge artifacts and random triangles and things com up in games like battlefield bc2. the reason i put the time up here is that when i first started the computer it was doing video things fine.

Recently I made fresh install of Windows 7 home premium x64. Everything was fine except Nvidia drivers. It starts installing, then it loads like quarter and stays like that about 10 minutes. Then installer says that no modifications made and try again later. I have tried 190.62 and 191.07. Anyone know whats the problem and how to fix it?

I did quite a bit of looking around and there seem to be lots of people with Nvidia problems in Win 7, however not exactly what I'm seeing.
First off when I ran the "Windows Experience Index" I get a 5.7 rating for "gaming graphics" but only a 1.0 for graphics (Areo performance)
Along with that I am noticing "slowness" with desktop and IE rendering performance. For example it takes a long time to browse to a new page (much longer than it did under vista) or to even open a new blank tab. I have also noticed slow performance with the built in games. When dealing cards for solitare, the dealing animation "stutters" and when starting mine sweeper, the animation of the board being drawn "stutters" too.
I had this behavior with the Nvidia 191.07 drivers so I decided to give the Nvidia beta 195.39 drivers a try. They too show the same problem.
Anyone have any suggestions what I can do to get things working better? Is anyone else seeing this with a similar (or different) configuration?

I'm trying to install updated chipset drivers. I downloaded nForce 680i SLI from the nvidia website. When I run install, it asks me to select what I want to install and gives only 2 choices: nvidia ethernet driver, and nvidia storage driver. Those aren't the chipset drivers, are they?
