Running OS X And Windows 7 On Separate HDs On Same Computer?
May 12, 2011
I have Windows 7 on a 30GB SSD, and a 2TB HD I keep most of my games and whatnot on. I want to learn Objective C programming and Cocoa Touch for developing Apps. But to the point, I need to run the SDK. I can't do that on Windows (I think) and buying a Mac just to learn programming is out of the question. I may be able to build a hackintosh, but I'd rather not. That being said, I want to know if I can create a Dual Boot system where Windows 7 is my main/default OS, and have a separate Hard drive for the OS x leopard. I've seen some tutorials stating on how to partition ONE drive. I don't want that. I want two separate drives. One only for OS X, and the other only for Windows 7. Is this possible? I'm willing to buy a 1 TB drive and get it going. Have Windows 7 and OSX. Want both on my PC without having to partition one drive. Want separate drives for each OS.
I want to run two separate drives from the same windows. I want to have all of my personal stuff on one disc and my business on the other disc, but still just running one windows from one hard drive. What is the best way to do this?
I have a workstation on a gaming rig. I work and play games on it. I wanted to ask if I could separate my work files and GAMES setups (installed files) so they don't harm my work data.I do play games with cheats/hacks and they mostly contain malicious files which can damage my operating system. I want to create a seperate DISK image like Vmware in which I can run games without being worried about any harmful files accessing my work partition.
I have a question regarding the install of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I've done this on one HDD successfully and due to conflicts with additional software I wish to reinstall Windows 7 on a completely new HDD (on the same machine). This way I can keep both programs separate also leaving me with an additional OS in case the other fails. I plan to use the BIOS to switch to the other drive (boot order) when I wish to use the other software on occassion. I plan on backing up my files onto an external drive. So my question is as such, can I load Windows 7 onto a separate drive and switch the drive of which to boot from to achieve my goal?
Have upgraded to win 7 home from vista on a laptop. I copied the old vista installation to an external hard drive, with a linux pen drive so was wonder if there was a way to do a transfer from the external hard drive to the new windows install
I have got two separate hard drives one running Windows 7 one running xp. I need to be able to chose which os to run but currently I can only do so by pressing F12. I have tried EasyBCD but it wont work - does anyone know how I can do this?
My question is about drivers. I am installing a new hard drive. Do I install the software then update drivers or drivers first? I ran upgrade advisor and my hardware is current enough to work.

Experiencing Windows (Event viewer won't load...) and other misc problems, possibly from a failing hard drive. (trying to nail down the root issue currently, although i do know the suspect drive has 3 bad sectors that need to be remapped)Has been displaying these messages infrequently (~20 times) for several months now. I recently bought this used laptop, it came with Windows 7 64 bit installed, but no discs. I do have the original disc and activation code for Windows Vista 32 bit. I would like to keep this version of windows, actually I dont care but I dont want to have to reinstall all of my software. Is there some way for me to pay for an activation code from Microsoft without having to reinstall windows and everything?

I have two computers running Windows 7 and both belong to a Homegroup. From one computer I can access both computers and from the other I can't access the other. It say's I don't have permission but I gave it everyone permission when I shared it. I can't figure out why?
Computer has been running really slow lately. I did all the maintenance I knew how to do and removed programs they weren't using. It's better, but still slow. Their computer originally came with Windows Vista and I upgraded it to Windows 7 a year ago.
The computer is running windows 7 64 bit publisher will not cut and paste from word, will not cut and paste from previous publisher files, freezes and closes without cause.I have installed office 2003 pro and it had these problems as well, so I uninstalled it loaded publisher from a stand alone copy and the rest of Office from the office 2003 pro disk.
I have a computer that's 3-4 years old now and in the last couple of weeks has been giving me a popup alert saying 'This computer is not running genuine Windows' with and error # 0x8004fe21.I have called Microsoft telephone activations and was asked to run 'slui.exe 3' from the command prompt and re-enter the Windows product key (from the computer case), which I did and it successfully activated. I restarted and everything initially seemed fine, but now the message has returned. The MGADiag report (below) shows a number of 'File Mismatch' errors - but I'm not sure what to do about it.

I recently just got my firewall back up and running and now i have a new problem my windows system is turned off and i cannot get it back on. Everything seem to be working fine until about a week ago i have windows security essentials on it now, i have deleted almost everything that i do not use on my computer and yet it run absolutely slow. People tell me that i may have to restore but i was hoping for another way around that if there is any or an inexpensive software
First off my power supply went out. It was a 450watt one I ordered and replaced it with a 750watt power supply. After I replaced the power supply, my computer would not boot, When the power supply went out it was in the middle of updating windows. So I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of windows, reloaded all my drivers and extra programs. At that point my computer was running great.
I decided to uninstall Bing tool bar, and windows live sign in assistant. it prompted my to reboot. When I rebooted the computer, after about 30 minutes it still had not come up to the desktop, I could boot up in safe mode and it would run fine. I did a system restore, no change, I did a start up repair, no change, Tested the memory it came back fine.
At that point and reformatted the hard drive again, I had another hard drive formatted it and put the install CD in and after 8 hours it is still trying to install Windows 7, No errors just really really slow. So I have replaced the power supply, hard drive, and ran a memory test with no errors, done a clean install of windows. Running Windows 7 64 bit, 4 gig of Ram, 2.8 dual core processor, 1 gig video card, 500 gig hard drive.
I bought my new computer with Windows 7 Home Basic and it runs great. I like the gadgets but have a question. My CPU temperature is about 140 degrees, and when I run a high-tech game it rises to 160 degrees. It runs fine, but is this what the rest of you are getting?

I got this issue about a month or two ago, when my HP Pavilion 2000 suddenly started working. I can see the lights on, but the screen is just blank. I know there are battery issues, but when the screen started being blank, I doubted it.Should I just open it and replace the motherboard or check the wires being connected to the screen?
Sometimes when I click start and sleep on my computer (windows 7) the monitor will go to sleep but the computer is still running. I cannot wake my monitor up so there is nothing I can do to wake it up besides manually turning it off using the button on the computer case.
