View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a problem and i found this forum which seems good in providing solutions.I was attacked today by a malware and I did some actions to get rid of it and now all seems good.Among my actions I used unhide.exe.the problem now is that ALL my files and folders are visible, even those which were supposed to be hidden.Well, maybe there is no harm in that but maybe they were hidden for a reason, that's why i would like to restore them to their default state.I see in many places that they say to do this:Start Menu - type in Search box -> CMD find at top - Right Click on - RUN AS ADMINType or Copy and Paste this at the prompt :secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verboset i'm afraid to do it because elsewhere it says that it may make my system unstable and not restore all the default security settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my environment we have about 100 computers that have the IE 9 windows update hidden (along with a few other updates). We do not have a SUS server to manage the updates on all of our remote computers. What would be the easiest way to restore these hidden updates on our employees' computers? Is there a registry entry for all the updates? Could I just create a reg file that delete's or modifies the 'hidden' attribute and have users apply the reg file to their computer?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new laptop I've owned since Fall. Its specs are provide below. A while ago its volume adjustment buttons (fn + volume up or down) stopped working. I've been using the desktop toolbar to adjust the sound which is of course very inconvenient. Now in the last week, the volume icon will not show up in the toolbar and I have to reboot often to get it to show, even though the icon and notification are both enabled.I have run malware bytes and super anti-spyware and the latter removed some malware. View 9 Replies View RelatedI was checking Microsoft Office Word Starter 2010 and I realized that one of the files had hidden text in it. From Options - Display, I chose show hidden text and it was "Top of Form" at the top of the page. But I got curious about this and made some search and I realized that you can hide text in a txt file with a stream method and also there can be hidden streams in processes also. How can I find out if a doc(x) file has no streams in it. I mean the hidden text may be seen by the method of Options - Display; but can someone hide something with a password in a doc(x) file? If yes, how can I find this out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomething has recently happened to my mouse pointer icon. It is split in half by a gap of about a 1/16", there is a short vertical line attached to the tail as well, and it will disappear when you mouse over address/ text box. This will also occur when the icon changes from the pointer to the loading circle. It is split in half as well.I've tried changing the theme, color and the pointer icon and the issue persisted. When I changed the option to no theme only the right half of the pointer appeared. One other thing changed and I'm having trouble explaining this part; the position where the mouse "point" is has moved from the end of the arrow to right side end of what remains of the pointer. The only success in restoring normal pointer function was to activate the tail option. However this doesn't correct whatever is wrong here. I should also note that I have only one monitor..It looks something like this but it is the standard size.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSome of my important system files are no longer hidden and I can't hide them even with the Command Prompt "attrib" command. Files such as bootmgr and ntldr are shown and I can't hide them. Also, show Protected System files is unchecked and show hidden files is also unchecked so they shouldn't be showing. I tried to re-add their system file attribute but I keep getting an "Access Denied" error in CMD and I do not have user account control on and I'm on a Default Administrator Account.
View 3 Replies View Relatedif i had 2 apps open, i could single click app 1's respective Taskbar icon to restore (minimize)/lose (set) focus. the aforementioned method would also minimize or maximize the app 1's window as the focus changed. further, if i launched app 2, app 2 would load in the foreground, immediately receive focus and i could use it right away. seems after a recent Windows Update, i lost the ability to use all the above methods. My current Taskbar properties are: Taskbar Tab - Lock the Taskbar, Use Small Icons and Autopeek all enabled Start Menu Tab - both Privacy settings enabled the steps below describes the current behavior starting with no apps open: i open app 1 (e.g., Firefox) and perform an app 1 activity next I open app 2 (e.g., Word) and app 2 loads in the background (as opposed to opening in the foreground and receiving the focus) i click on app 2's taskbar icon to gain access (transfer focus) and perform an app 2 activity, however, app 2's taskbar icon starts flashing but app 2 doesn't receive the focus.to access app 2 i have to minimize app 1 using app 1's minimize button if i want to go back to app 1 i click on app 1's taskbar icon to gain access (transfer focus) and perform an app 1 activity, however, app 1's taskbar icon starts flashing but app 1 doesn't receive the focus. to access app 1 i have to minimize app 2 using app 2's minimize button now clicking an app 1 or app 2 taskbar icons cause them to start flashing if app 2 has the focus, and i mouse over app 1 (when it doesn't have the focus) and click the preview of app 1, app 1's taskbar icon flashes, but the focus does not shift to app 1 - it remains with app 2. with 5 apps open, if i want access to app 2, i have to minimize app 1, 3, 4 and 5 using their respective minimize buttons to see/gain access app 2. as i mentioned, in the past, i only needed to single click any app's Taskbar icon once to lose focus (and minimize window) and transfer focus (and restore window) to another app or vice versa. call me weird, etc, but this greatly enhances my work productivity because i'm navigating to windows with virtual machines, remote desktop connections, etc. i even created a restore point where this behavior is working as i want it. if i restore and update, the behavior changes.

Now, I went to system advisory and did a system scan on recommended settings, I pressed 'fix selected' and my Wifi was disabled, I tried everything. I can't get my wifi to work without plugging in my modem directly ot my pc. I noticed my wifi radio was disabled, so I pressed the F2 button but nothing worked. I am trying to re enable my wifi radio / wireless radio connection button but it won't work.
