Random Pasting Of Data From Previous Copying One File Appearing In Another File
Feb 20, 2012After doing a copy and paste, we have, on 3 occasions so far, found the copied data in an entirely different file. Twice data from a copy appeared in an excel spreadsheet and once a picture copied in facebook appeared in an email. The excel problem is very worrysome as it is our family budget. how this could happen? In the case of the excel events no paste operation was intentionally done.

Dec 13, 2011I've been noticing after re-installing Win 7 that I get random floppy drive seeks and the hard drive light flashes like crazy and then everything is fine again.I have Clamwin AV,Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D installed,but that's it,no Windows Defender or Essentials AV.Any ideas what causes this? It's a minor annoyance,but I just want to make sure it's not damaging anything.Also would Readyboost help me? I've got 2 gigs dual channel PC3200 ram(or I could go with 2.5 gig single channel PC2700)and a P4 at 3 gig until I can afford to upgrade my comp.This is my first post in quite awhile so I hope this is in the right place

Jan 7, 2013Recently i've noticed a increase in teh amount of random folders in my C drive.For example when i open it I am overwhelmed by folders with names such as "f8gdhjf8a8304s" When i open them up inside there is a load of sub folders going from the name "1025"to "3082"Inside those is a word document which has something to do with a microsoft website which im not allowed to enter.Is it okay for me to delete these folders? at the moment i have 14 of them.

Feb 19, 2012Why do files moved to an external drive not behave the same as those same files in an internal drive? I noticed that if I do anything to a file that is in an external drive, that file can not be saved under the same name (read only). In order to do so one must save it internally and then copy or move it to the external drive.So I did just that--I copied a file from taken from an external drive, saved it in the internal one and then copied it back to the external one. Now if I r-click the propeerties of these 2 same files and then go to the 'Security' tab a difference is immediately apparent: The internal one has -1- System & -2 My-computername (user-PCuser and -3- Administrators (user-PCAdministrators) with all 3 accounts allowing all (full control, read, write, etc..). While the external drive has in Properties; -1- System -2- Administrators (user-PCAdministrators) and -3- Users (user-PCUserrs) with this final 3d one (and different one) with no Allow for "full control, or modify or write. So how does one have all its files in this external drive behave and be equal to all the same files in the internal drive?Since -3- Users (user-PCUserrs) in the external drive is that which is differnt from the internal drive I was wondering if it is OK to delete this Permission or 'attribute' or whatever it is called and create instead one equal to the one in the internal drive -3- Administrators (user-PCAdministrators)? ANd of course doing so in one go and not file after file after file individually?

Apr 7, 2011My D 200gb SATA hard drive disappears around 1-90 mins while on windows 7. I have tried registry repairs and alot of things. Its not faulty cables because i used to have win Xp on exact same computer but reformatted to windows 7. Rebooting makes the hard drive reappear but it still disappears after a while. It still shows up in the bios though. When it disappears, it is completely gone, even in device manager.
my important data is on my 200gb D drive and i only use C for my os and some other things like Firefox because its only 80gb

Sep 20, 2012I was lucky to grab a recent image backup from a failing 1.5 TB drive. Can I restore it to a smaller drive if the available space on the original drive was well below 1TB?This is the first time ive had to work with this particular image file. Now today, the other crashes started, with the first happening out of nowhere, the second happening upon starting a video game. I've been without crashes for a while now, only having used my browser(Opera) and copying some files to an external hard drive. As well as the SF tool.I only have 2 dump files available. Feb 26, 2012I reformatted my computer multiple times, yet my computer seems to BSOD randomly.What happenes is that everything becomes unresponsive; cant alt+tab, cant ctrl+alt+del etc etc. everything freezes randomly... then boom, BSOD. its happened twice, with no apparent pattern.And then, when it restarts, it tries booting but then it goes into the boot selection screen and my SSD is nowhere to be found. I have to power off then power on again for it to boot up and log in.

Random Computer Shutdowns Random BSODs
May 10, 2012I dont know if this is the right area or not, as i just joined, but it seems to be the best place. I recently bought a new computer, and now it will randomly shut down. Its also making loud pitch noises. That just started happening. I called tech support and they told me it was probably just the power supply. Before I send it in though, i want to make sure that is what is wrong. I dont know all to put on here.

Apr 9, 2011I am trying to clean up my second internal hard drive in my desktop in which I just upgraded the OS to Windows 7. My second hard drive (D) was the one that I think I had XP on before I upgraded to Windows 7. I installed Windows 7 on the 1st hard drive (C). Apr 12, 2011My old computer was put to rest with a big power surge last week. I had to buy a new computer and now I would like to access my old files. I have taken the hard drive out of my old PC. My new PC of course has windows 7. I am not a computer expert but I am not a novice either. The old hard drive has the sata connection and I have a sata cable, but have never used one previously. I connected the cable to the old hard drive and then plugged in the power cord to the wall outlet. I then I connected the USB cable from the sata cable connected to my old drive to my new PC�s USB port. I haven't been able to access the files on the old drive but I know my new pc has recognized the hardware. After I connected the USB cable to my new pc under Devices I can see a hardware named USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge. Not sure what that means. There is �No� drive listed for it though when I open Windows Explorer. I can only see the (OS) C drive and the HP Recovery D drive.

May 27, 2012I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. My SSD drive (128GB) died and I am waiting for a replacement so I decided to reconstruct the OS drive and transfer the image when I get my SSD back in a week or so. I decided to partition a drive of approx. 128 GB after I finished configuring Windows 7. However, There is a HUGE .sys file on my C drive. The name looks like some sort of system generated name ({aed8a510-a6d5-11e1-94ce-806e6f6e6963}.sys). It looks like a GUID and it is 134GB. I can't get into the file because it's a sys file and I'm sure if I delete it there will be terrible consequences. It has todays date on it. Does anyone know what this could possibly be? I've used Disk Cleanup and CCleaner and a few other utilities and Googled it like crazy to see if it can be safely deleted but none of these even list it.

Random BSOD, Random Codes, While Using And While Away?
May 18, 2012A couple weeks ago I started having random BSOD and restarts, I have researched several different solutions to no avail. At one point, I thought the problem was solved after restoring a restore point, however, the dreaded BSOD is back after a couple of days.
- Restored the earliest restore point
- Ran chkdsk with no errors
- Ran full scan AV (just in case) using MSSE.
- Updated all Windows and drivers updates.
I believe this is related to a driver issue, however, I'm not sure which one.Attached is both the BSOD App and System Health data.
Basic specs:
- Windows 7 x64
- Original Install
- OEM
- System age: 6 months
- OS install age: 6 months (not reinstalled)
Unable To Delete File On External Drive?
Sep 15, 2011I have an .mkv file on two external (2tb)hard drives that i am unable to delete. I've tried unlocker(which actually shut down explorer) moveonboot doesn't work on external drives and a couple other "unlock" programs..
