I recently noticed a whole bunch of random files on my C drive. They are a lot of "Eula" files, globdata, installres.dll files, and a "VC_RED" installer and rar file. When I bring my cursor over the installer it says something about C++ 2008 or something.
View 7 RepliesI've been noticing after re-installing Win 7 that I get random floppy drive seeks and the hard drive light flashes like crazy and then everything is fine again.I have Clamwin AV,Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D installed,but that's it,no Windows Defender or Essentials AV.Any ideas what causes this? Specs are:
Core i3 2350M
2GB DD3 Ram
500GB HDD
nVidia 630M 1GB
I have used the SF Diagnostic tool and attached the files, but there are not memory dump files as i have tried several times to enable them but the system never creates them. The crash happens randomly and is not associated with Game or any specific application. I am using Kaspersky Pure as antivirus and i am sure its not causing any problem as i have been using it on other systems and laptops.
The last BSOD seen was at around 10:00 this morning (may have been earlier as the machine was found with a blue screen...), the problem I have at the moment is that the PC is not creating dump files - I have checked the settings (screen shot included) but it still won't create them.I have uploaded the output of the utilities as per the 'BSOD Assistance' posting?

I get BSOD sometimes when playing Battlefield 3, sometimes I don't get it. I also get BSOD when transferring large files from external hard drives or from my internal network.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy D 200gb SATA hard drive disappears around 1-90 mins while on windows 7. I have tried registry repairs and alot of things. Its not faulty cables because i used to have win Xp on exact same computer but reformatted to windows 7. Rebooting makes the hard drive reappear but it still disappears after a while. It still shows up in the bios though. When it disappears, it is completely gone, even in device manager.
my important data is on my 200gb D drive and i only use C for my os and some other things like Firefox because its only 80gb
I'm really hoping I find an answer to this question besides the one I've found on the internet a hundred times over (That's not a good idea, you shouldn't do it).
My question is: Is there a way to allow a user to create/edit files in the C drive (system drive), and in the Program Files contained there? Let's assume that this user is not only a local admin, but a domain admin as well.
The reason for this is I work for a company that does a lot of editing within these areas of Windows. We need to be able to create and edit files where they are stored. I know one way around we've found is to copy the item out of the folder, edit it, and put it back, but this is a pain in the butt.
I also know that most program need to "run as admin", so that's not the problem either. I've given this user every right and permission in the Security tab of the C drive, and had it propagate down through all files, folders, and sub-folders, and still I'm hit with an error that says "Access is Denied" or another one saying that I don't have the right privileges.
Please, if anyone knows how to change this in 7 it would be much appreciated. I know that this worked in XP, and I'm not looking for someone to tell me "this is a bad idea so don't do it", or "maybe it didn't work right in XP". I have seen enough of these.
UPDATE: I have been playing around with saving office and wordpad documents into the C drive, and into the Program files. It seems that I'm able to do both now (for some odd reason), but I still receive intermittent errors when trying to edit or copy/paste or cut/paste from one location to another.
Recently my wife caught a virus on her computer (HP touchsmart windows 7 home premium). Your typical virus program that sends hundreds of pop up screens and says click this for full removal, blah blah blah. Anyways I used malwarebytes to see if the program could be removed, malwarebytes found 5 problems and I removed them. Afterward I noticed that there were no icons on the screen, I tried to bring up task manager and the computer rebooted. once the computer rebooted, there was a black screen with "no operating system found".
I tried the "repair your computer" option on the Windows 7 disk, but it was not able to repair the problem automatically, I also tried some manual command scan prompts that I found on the net. None of this has worked so far.
I figured that I would take the hdd out of her computer and dock it to another computer. The hard drive connected fine, but when I tried to open it there was nothing in there. I tried to make sure that all files were not hidden (they weren't). Funny thing is when I click on properties for the drive it shows that the drive is 2/3rds full but I can't see any files or information when I try to search the drive. I also just tried copying the hard drive to another harddrive and it was copying files but once I opened the new location, it was still empty (even thought the folder said in properties 84 gigs).
Is there something that I am missing, I would like to retrieve all of her documents, pictures etc. then I could reformat that drive and re-install windows if I can not get it to boot back up correctly.
How can I transfer my User files C:Users to F:Users and have Windows make a reference to it, meaning that it will be modified on F:Users from now on.

A couple weeks ago I started having random BSOD and restarts, I have researched several different solutions to no avail. At one point, I thought the problem was solved after restoring a restore point, however, the dreaded BSOD is back after a couple of days.
- Restored the earliest restore point
- Ran chkdsk with no errors
- Ran full scan AV (just in case) using MSSE.
- Updated all Windows and drivers updates.
I believe this is related to a driver issue, however, I'm not sure which one.Attached is both the BSOD App and System Health data.

The E drive already had data on it before and has plenty of room.I saw that the data was copied then I did a "Windows Easy File Transfer" of the same C User data and also put it on the E drive. The windows easy transfer made one file.Then I reinstall Window 7 Pro on to C drive. I booted up the computer and looked in the E drive for my data, but Windows changed that drive to F from E.
