View 2 Replies View RelatedMy FTP allows me to access folders as a standard http directory.
I can download files from there. But, obviously I can't directory just download a folder.
Is there any way to download full folders from a http directory similar to a FTP program lets you do this with folders in a FTP?
FTP's transfer rate is a lot slower.
Can I do this using SmartFTP?
In Default Programs, When I select 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'. When I select an extension and click the Change Program button, the program I want is not on the list, So I select [Browse] and select the program I want then nothing happens. How do I add a program to the list ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe control panel Default Programs options only work for programs that Windows 7 admits exist (with some VERY strange omissions, like MS Office) but it is easy to work around that by using windows explorer to let you associate any program that you can browse to with any file type that is already on your system.
BUT how to you associate a new "protocol" with a program (specifically Internet Explorer). My problem is that I have one email provider that automatically changes every incoming email hyperlink from http://etc to blockedhttp://etc
With WinXP and Outlook Express there was no problem because clicking on the link would automatically open IE8 which would of course fail to open the site, but I could easily click into the address bar and delete the "blocked" from in front of http
Now I'm running Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail and I can't get the links to open anything. When I click on the link, I get an error message "There is no probram associated to perform the requested action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
I have tried each of the functions under Default Programs and none of them will let you enter a NEW association. I found the one that says Internet Explorer is associated with http:// and https:// but there is no way to add any new protocol. Unlike filetypes you can't work around the protocols by using explorer.
I have a machine I am fixing, and the HTTP non plug-and-play driver is missing; I would like to reinstall it without a restore. I am running SFC /scannow at the moment to try and fix it as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using a program on my PC, I get a .net framework error and the program does not shut down correctly. I'm wondering if this is linked to my .net update problems. For a good while now, windows update has failed to install 2 security updates for .net framework (KB2604121 and KB2656405) as well as one update for .net framework (KB2600217). Each time I receive a error code 643 from windows update.I have also tried to manually repair my .net framework by going to .NET Downloads, Developer Resources & Case Studies | Microsoft .NET Framework and downloading then installing. Each time, halfway through the installation, my PC will shut off immediately and restart without warning.I figure the .net framework error I get from the program I use is linked to this update problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to fix a Samsung laptop for a friend. She admits to having 'fiddled' with the networking applets in Control Panel with the result that neither LAN nor Wi-fi functions any more.I have noticed that I am unable to use the GUI to access IPv4 Properties because the button is greyed out. Also greyed out is Uninstall. The only button available is Install. I have tried that, but after rebooting the situation appears to be the same. I have tried using the command prompt as Administrator and using NETSH to uninstall IP, install it, reset it etc, rebooting every time but without any noticeable change afterwards. Also tried NETSH WINSOCK RESET after the above. I have also tried the above in recovery mode with networking enabled. Again, no change!Unfortunately, the model does not have a CD drive. However, it has USB ports. Fortunately, I do have a generic 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium CD - which is the operating system installed on the PC. So I could copy the CD in one way or another to an external USB drive and work from that if necessary. If I knew what I had to do!There is a lot of valuable data on the PC and I don't want to be responsible for losing it. Of course, I could try backing it all up but she has saved stuff all over the place and I am bound to miss something! Yes, I could copy the entire disk ...... I know!! But we would still have to find and retrieve the data later.

Is there a tweak possible to cause a program that doesn't have the ability built-in, to open multiple instances of itself to do so?I use Movie Collector for cataloging videos, and often when using it's scraper function, the options for a particular program's data download, is for each season of the program, which means that the program tree and thumbnail display fills rapidly, causing some orderly disorder.I prefer to integrate the seasons that I have of a series into a single listing, but to do that requires not only a lot of copy/pasting, but is hindered by the fact that one must go back and forth, opening and closing windows a lot. It would be much, much easier, if one could place two windows of the program side-by-side.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that svchost.exe is doing this connections every 10-20 seconds, and every 10-20 seconds there is a lag spike that jump the latency up to 1000ms and more.
I want to disabled this periodical connections that windows does...I don't know what Has caused this...I have tried completely disabling svchost.exe access to internet but than no application launched can connect to internet.
The connections are port specific, the remote ip to which it connects to is always 192.168.1.1:53, which for sure is the ip of the dns (redirected by the router) plus the port 53. I have tried completely disabling the access to this remote port for all the local ip and local ports with my firewall, but it just keeps avoiding it. I have used this method with the connections to microsoft with the port 3544 witch are being disabled.
Being somewhat bored I began playing around with Homegroups. I delved into HG awhile back but never really got into it. To make a long story short I can't start the service 'Peer Name Resolution Protocol' which is required for HG. There are 3 Peer type services. One is started (Peer Networking Identity Manager). The other one (Peer Networking Grouping) is not because it depends on 'Peer Name Resolution Protocol.' Both Homegroup services are started and I have IPV6 enabled on my NIC and in the LAN properties. Also the last time I played around with HG it seemed I needed the MS Firewall service started which it is. The event log has this: 'The Peer Name Resolution Protocol cloud did not start because the creation of the default identity failed with error code: 0x80630801.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEssentially, upon starting up my computer, from time to time, I have no yet been able to isolate what may cause this issue, I will find that I cannot launch programs from their shortcuts in the Quick Start or Taskbar menu. As of right now I have not tried to launch said programs from the original .exe file in this scenario.I've noticed that when I try to open these programs from the Taskbar, the icon will be surrounded by a square to indicate that it is active, but, after a period of maybe 5 seconds or so, sometimes longer, it will disappear and the program will no longer look active. Opening up the task manager, the programs usually show up in the Processes under the appropriate name. Multiple instances of a program can appear, even when, under normal circumstances, multiple instances aren't allowed (such as with Firefox). The processes will usually show a static amount of memory used, like 108k for any firefox.exe in the process list, and will simply sit there until they are ended, despite the program not actually running. When this happens I generally have to restart the computer and hope it works on the restart.
