Kernel power error in event viewer. Is this a generic error that could be caused by other errors?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems connecting some devices (android apps) to my computer via my wi-fi. I am usually able to solve the problem by running network diagnostics, but after awhile, I'll start having network connectivity problems again.
Whenever I run diagnostics in these situations, this error is shown in Event Viewer:
"WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.
Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\athihvs."
I also receive the error (in event viewer) on a fairly regular basis:
"Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x2225D3CC6415. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server."
I have checked, and my router and WLAN card drivers are both up to date. I'm wondering if these errors are what is causing my app to lose connection?
It is win 7 with updates. I built it a little over a year ago. It restarts all by itself. The event viewer shows a kernel error and improper shutdown. It may restart once or maybe twice a day or not at all but It happens too often and started a while back. I have checked temp using Sisoft sandra but its not overheated. The only thing unusual to me was the power supply fan seems to kick in twice. Its done that since it was new. It still does it at times but not always. The Power supply is a Fatality 550 w. The amd processor is low watts and so is the video card. I don't like the idea of replacing stuff just to see if it works. I don't know if ram or memory error could cause something like this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy current problem is that it occasionally gives off a clicking noise, I am assuming that the problem is the HDD because there is nothing else that's moving in the computer (besdies the BD-ROM, but it doesn't count). I look onto the event viewer and every time this happens it shows an error in the log files. [code]

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to fix a Samsung laptop for a friend. She admits to having 'fiddled' with the networking applets in Control Panel with the result that neither LAN nor Wi-fi functions any more.I have noticed that I am unable to use the GUI to access IPv4 Properties because the button is greyed out. Also greyed out is Uninstall. The only button available is Install. I have tried that, but after rebooting the situation appears to be the same. I have tried using the command prompt as Administrator and using NETSH to uninstall IP, install it, reset it etc, rebooting every time but without any noticeable change afterwards. Also tried NETSH WINSOCK RESET after the above. I have also tried the above in recovery mode with networking enabled. Again, no change!Unfortunately, the model does not have a CD drive. However, it has USB ports. Fortunately, I do have a generic 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium CD - which is the operating system installed on the PC. So I could copy the CD in one way or another to an external USB drive and work from that if necessary. If I knew what I had to do!There is a lot of valuable data on the PC and I don't want to be responsible for losing it. Of course, I could try backing it all up but she has saved stuff all over the place and I am bound to miss something! Yes, I could copy the entire disk ...... I know!! But we would still have to find and retrieve the data later.

View 0 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 configuration is relatively bullet proof (ha ha, nervous laughter). My OS and programs are on C, which I image using RDriveImage every month after Patch Tuesday. My data is on software-mirrored D/F drives. So as long as I don't have a catastrophic event affecting my computer, a routine "drive failure" should be recoverable, with the worst-case being I'd be out a month of updates, but with a good recent image of the OS drive.Anyway, I was recently looking at my event viewer and I have "Disk errors" that occur whenever I run a full image of C.
The complete error text is:

Event ID: 11
Task Category: None

There were two errors in February (none before that), three in March, four each in May and July.In April and June I did incremental images, so the "bad" area wasn't imaged, so no error. With all the above as background, what's the safest way for me to isolate and/or repair the area(s) of the disk with the errors? The errors are always logged within 1-2 seconds of each other, so I suspect it's just one bad area. And I have never, ever, seen signs of a disk error. No BSOD, no clicking noises, no impaired performance, even for a moment.
I have noticed that svchost.exe is doing this connections every 10-20 seconds, and every 10-20 seconds there is a lag spike that jump the latency up to 1000ms and more.
I want to disabled this periodical connections that windows does...I don't know what Has caused this...I have tried completely disabling svchost.exe access to internet but than no application launched can connect to internet.
The connections are port specific, the remote ip to which it connects to is always 192.168.1.1:53, which for sure is the ip of the dns (redirected by the router) plus the port 53. I have tried completely disabling the access to this remote port for all the local ip and local ports with my firewall, but it just keeps avoiding it. I have used this method with the connections to microsoft with the port 3544 witch are being disabled.
Being somewhat bored I began playing around with Homegroups. I delved into HG awhile back but never really got into it. To make a long story short I can't start the service 'Peer Name Resolution Protocol' which is required for HG. There are 3 Peer type services. One is started (Peer Networking Identity Manager). The other one (Peer Networking Grouping) is not because it depends on 'Peer Name Resolution Protocol.' Both Homegroup services are started and I have IPV6 enabled on my NIC and in the LAN properties. Also the last time I played around with HG it seemed I needed the MS Firewall service started which it is. The event log has this: 'The Peer Name Resolution Protocol cloud did not start because the creation of the default identity failed with error code: 0x80630801.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'd seen many USB card readers advertised, and I ordered the SanDisk MicroMate (a SDHC device), thinking I could connect this to my android tablet and quickly have additional (using a new 8GB SDHC card) storage for reading and writing. When the connection was made, however, the message was "Blank USB storage; USB storage blank or has unsupported format" I offer this to indicate that the reader does seem operational. The card couldn't be accessed using the tab's file managers. In an attempt to figure out the problem, I tried using it on my two Windows PCs (both Win 7-64b computers, a desktop and a laptop) and found what are to me confusing results:
1. If I insert the new 8 GB SDHC card into the internal card reader of either of my computers, it is immediately accessible. I was able to copy a file to it. Format is FAT32.
2. If I connect the reader to a powered USB port on either computer, the reader device is shown with no errors in Device Manager, but when the card is inserted into the reader, the error "the drive must be formatted" appears.
In Default Programs, When I select 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'. When I select an extension and click the Change Program button, the program I want is not on the list, So I select [Browse] and select the program I want then nothing happens. How do I add a program to the list ?
