I have an unsupported graphics card, and would like to force enable the aero theme, so i can se the aeropeek (taskbar preview), animations, and the transparency and blur effects (glass), but have so far been unsuccessful - does anyone know how i can do this?
View 8 RepliesFor the past few days, if not a week now, I've noticed that when I switch to Basic theme for RAM intesive programs like Adobe After Effects, Windows is quite slow, almost running as though my laptop is 1GB not 2GB RAM.Though when I switch to Aero theme, Windows is only slightly slower with Adobe After Effects running. My laptop is Compaq Presario CQ56, 2GB shared graphics and I can't explain why the Basic theme is running slow whereas Aero is responding faster, so much so, programs tend to stop responding more frequently on Basic. I have run MSE, MBAM and SAS (MSE realtime, others are standalone mode) and found no viruses and I update them all either daily or every two days. I only have Realtek Audio and MSE on Startup so I can't figure out why this happening!

How do i get back my text so i can actually read it again? To clarify:I were setting up my desktop to my liking. i went and found my old .dream to get as the wallpaper, all was fine until i wanted to get rid of icon text. I went and disabled dropshadow, and then this happened; all text in documents goes transparent. I am clueless as to what might be the problem. Right click desk top>personalize>Trouble shoot problems with aero
It AlwaYS COMES up with the error Themes service isnt running :fixed
but after a few seconds it shuts off again.. It makes it to where i cannot see firefox close button,expand,minimize etc.. and completely makes the bottom task bar solid white and square with old buttons (like win 95) and various other windows including the volume button scroll etc..

I'm having an issue with the Windows 7 OS themes of my laptop. It's a HP DV4-2116la. When I open an application or software, no matter how big or small, Windows automatically switches to the basic (non aero) theme every time. This behaviour has never happened to me before.At the sistem performance options, Aero Peek is enabled. I haven't made any changes to my laptop, it's supposed to run smooth (it is optimized, no addware, no unnecessary background processes), and I don't have any software that stresses the computer.

The Aero theme background really becomes funky and full of lines as seen in the attached images. Sometimes application window displays also get messed up as in the attached Paint window.
I installed the latest Driver for the Video from Dell site but that doesn't seem to solve the issue.
Following is the configuration of my laptop:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently looking a way to enable Aero in my machine. (as note, currently I am missing the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Aero Flip.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
I just bought a new case for my pc (CM Storm Trooper) and in the top front there is 2 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports build in (plus some other stuff) so i was wondering if there is a way that i can get the 3.0 ports working on my ASUS M4A77T Motherboard, which i don't think supports USB 3.0? Is there any adapter/PCI Interface that can make these ports useable?

I've connected it up as my main monitor so when its connected via VGA my laptop goes blank and the screen is on the tv.
I was messing with the resolutions to try get the right one and now it says its in an unsupported resolution.
The problem is, I cant change it coz the screen wont show on the tv and its not showing on laptop because i set it not too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd seen many USB card readers advertised, and I ordered the SanDisk MicroMate (a SDHC device), thinking I could connect this to my android tablet and quickly have additional (using a new 8GB SDHC card) storage for reading and writing. When the connection was made, however, the message was "Blank USB storage; USB storage blank or has unsupported format" I offer this to indicate that the reader does seem operational. The card couldn't be accessed using the tab's file managers. In an attempt to figure out the problem, I tried using it on my two Windows PCs (both Win 7-64b computers, a desktop and a laptop) and found what are to me confusing results:
1. If I insert the new 8 GB SDHC card into the internal card reader of either of my computers, it is immediately accessible. I was able to copy a file to it. Format is FAT32.
2. If I connect the reader to a powered USB port on either computer, the reader device is shown with no errors in Device Manager, but when the card is inserted into the reader, the error "the drive must be formatted" appears.
i was having problems with files giving me an in use error when trying to rename, move or delete files......especially mkvs.....i found an online tutorial using a windows configuration file to disable thumbnailing.....now i have a bunch of photos i need to go through and i can't even open them in the previewer...I can't remember how i got to that file to change it or how to even word the error so i can recreate the search....its nothing simple like disabling it in visual settings.

This does not always remedy the problem. I have to restart the computer... then go back to my Excel worksheet.

I just ran SecurAble and found out that "Hardware Virtualization" is locked off.
