I have a new Acer computer with windows 7 pro 64 bit. I am currently using Thunderbird but I really miss Outlook Express and the ability to do stationery.I understand that Windows Mail is the most like OE and it is listed in my programs but seems to be locked. Why are thos Microsoft programs listed but unavailable??
first when I try to open microsoft office starter 2010 a box appears...click to run configuration error....so I went to programs and features to repair it and many of my installed and pre-downloaded programs aren't listed.. they are in the start menu and they work but they're just gone. Microsoft office and all related programs and features are among them....I had about 60 or 70 items before and now 23...I've tried system restore and nothing...
IE is not listed in the default programs. I cannot set IE as a default browser, though it seems it is. My alternative internet browser is Firefox which is not default.
When I click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of my screen, a menu opens. At the bottom of that menu is a line that says "all programs". It opens into a menu of programs on my machine.
Inside of "all programs" is listed a folder called Microsoft. Inside of it is Outlook 2010.
However, I recently wanted to send an email using Outlook 2010 by clicking on a link on a website. A window opened that would allow me to select the email client I wanted to use from a list of programs. But I can't find Outlook 2010.
When I click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of my screen & then on "computer" and then on C drive, there is listed in C drive two folders, Programs & Programs (x86). However, the Microsoft folder containing Outlook 2010 is not in either one of them.
When I did a search for Outlook 2010 on my C drive, the result said it can be found at C:ProgramDataMicrosoftStart MenuProgramsMicrosoft Office
However, I cick the Windows icon in the lower left corner of my screen & then on "computer" and then on C drive, I cannot find a ProgramData directory. So, where is my Ourlook 2010?
Having problem with graphics not showing up in email (Windows Live and Thunderbird). I have tried at least ten suggestions from internet but no help. Found that .jpeg is not listed in default - how do I make it show?
I've got 2 partitions, C drive being for the OS and D drive having my programs installed. I reinstalled Windows over the top the C drive with the impression that everything on my C drive would be wiped and replaced with the new system, and all the stuff on the D drive would be untouched (i.e. music, documents and program install files). The other day I upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 however now on the Add/Remove programs list no programs appear, yet I can still use some of them. For example I can use Steam by running the .exe in the install folder but doesn't appear on Add/Remove, and for example Itunes doesn't work at all using the same idea. Basically, have I screwed up my PC and the partitions from upgrading, a bad install or should I just reinstall all the programs from scratch?

I have just installed a new ssd into my pc and cloned the drive and everything has been up and running fine for a few days with no problems. But now all of a sudden when I go into add/remove programmes there are no programmes listed! yesterday they were all there...
had to re-install windows 7 because of some problems. I have a backup HDD that has what I want. When I transfer the files to my new C drive from the back up everything is there but not active. How can I activate the transferred programs?
I've deleted an old question since no one replied out of 150 + viewers. some input so I can figure this out This is weird and I'm wondering if you have these printer issues?
I have a HP Officejet 6500A Plus Printer. (all in one) In Windows 7 under Disk Manager my printer is listed as a Hard Drive thats weird. The printer is connected with a USB cable so I think the system and the drivers think it a flash drive.
Is this normal? Or can it be fixed? If so how? HP and MS have not repiied to my Quieies. My printer works but I'd like to know why.
My problems continue with Win 7's faulty 'file associations' subroutine. Have a friend with a new Toshiba Core i5 on which he has MS Office 2003 Professional fully installed, including PowerPoint. Three weeks ago, he complained that he could not open .pps files attached to e-mails, so he brought the computer to me. I opened the file associations subroutine, found .pps in the list of extensions, and ultimately (tha'ts another whole story) got MS PowerPoint registered as the default program to open such files.Today he claimed he got another e-mail with a .pps attachment, and could not open it, so brought the computer to me again. I don't know why he wasn't able to open it, because I called up the e-mail, clicked the .pps attachment and it opened perfectly. However, I opened the /Default Programs/Set Associations list and scrolled down to see what the .pps entry said was the current default.
i'm having a problem with the Time Zone selection, i'm running Windows 7 professional x64 and I want to change my time zone but it only lists two, which does not include the one i want... i right click on the clock (on right-down corner) , then adjust date/time, and i click on Change time zone button. then it brings me a drop down list which i can select, it only includes two time zones; UTC +2 and UTC +4. what i want is UTC/GMT +1 (Sweden time). how can i add an additional time zone to the drop down list so i can select it?
A program that I am familiar with that affects performance consuming at least half of CPU does not appear in the programs that can be uninstalled. I know it is there because it does show in the downloads located in the start menu. This program creeps in when you download certain programs from the internet such as toolbars if you do not uncheck them. I am usually careful about any downloads but since I enrolled in an on-line college course for my bachelor's certain programs do need to be downloaded.
It's been a while since I've been on here but I have a bit of an issue. It might be noting but I'd like to get it checked out.I used one of those "driver update" programs that scan your hardware and then gives you back your out of date drivers.Since updating an Intel driver I've now got an "Xeon E3-1200/2nd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor Family PCI Express Root Port - 0101" listed which I don't think was there before.
I recently installed and uninstalled a program. However, the entry for the program still remains in the Installed Programs list in the Control Panel. I have examined the Registry keys under uninstall and I cannot find this program listed there to be manually deleted. How do I remove this entry?
This one has me scratching my head. Over the weekend I had a power failure that affected my system. It was up and running at the time, transferring files to an external HD. I was away when it happened (had gone out for dinner - power went out there, too), when I got home, I rebooted the system, it went through it's systems check, and appeared to start normally, with no major problems, aside from some corrupt files on the external drive.Monday evening (Aug. 27) I went to update my flash player for steam, and during the installation, I got an error notifying me I don't have permission. Ran as an admin and got the same error.
The only thing I can figure is something in the registry got tweaked when the power went outThis is the only account on the system. I created a secondary admin account to try and straighten this out, but had no luck. (perhaps I missed something?)Anyone know a workaround or method to restore myself back to Administrator? I'd prefer not to have switch over to a new account, but if necessary, i guess it's necessary.
OS is windows 7 ultimate 32-bit/i am using high definition audio device from Microsoft speaker, mic and headphones are working front panel and back is also working..my speaker and the mic from this headset is working, but when i tried to use the headphones and the mic together, the headset is not listed or detected in the playback devices! i cant set my headphones to default because it is not displayed, and when i tried to unplug my speaker, still it doesnt recognize that i have my headphones plugged.i tried install my sound device(VIA HD audio device ) my speakers and headset are working at the same time but my mic is not recognized, but when i uninstalled it, i got my first problem regarding the sound devices but when i installed Realtek, same result with the first one that Microsoft is my audio device.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64. I have Microsoft Office 2007 installed and I want Outlook to startup when I startup Windows. I only have the one User account in Windows, so I initially put a shortcut of the outlook.exe in the user startup folder. But to no avail, it didn't startup. So I then cut and pasted this shortcut to the All users startup folder. This worked and it starts up when windows does. The problem is it starts up twice. I then opened msconfig to lookup startup programs. There are 2 instances of the Outlook listed but when I disable one it disables both and nothing starts up. I then re-enable it and it starts up twice again.
Today i on my laptop ( asus vx 6 ) and i got an error say " Bootmgr is missing "i load up my CD and went into recovery option, and my OS was never listed over there.
I have recently adquired a new Dell laptop with Core 2 processor and Windows 7 Home Edition (64 bits) installed from factory. I have this problem: I can not add any printer to the system, because when I try to do it the following message: "Windows can not open Add printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Restart the administrator or the system". Trying to being smart and not to bother you guys with an already known way to solve the problem I have search a lot of forum in where I found a lot of persons with the exactly same problem. The solutions that other persons gave to the problem does NOT work in my case. I mention here the principal ones: Use "Fix it" tool from Microsoft, Does not work, the tool can not restart the printer spooler service. Go to the Control Panel -> Services ( or, equivalent, Execute: service.msc) and check that Spooler Service is running, if it is not: make it start and check Automatically?
I have this device "WAN Miniport (IKEv2)" under Network Adapters and it's always listed as not working. I disabled it a long time ago but it always comes up as an error when I scan my computer. It won't update the driver, Windows always says that there was an error, and as far as I can see it doesn't do anything but it won't let me remove it even though it isn't working.
My wife's nephew picked up a virus that Avast had flagged as newgeneration.com/x/x and oldschoolzz.com/x/. I have ran Malwarebytes, SuperAnti Spyware, and quarantined trojans that were found several times (also tried it in safe mode). They keep coming back so I was going to do a system recovery with the discs that I had burned when she first got her computer. The problem is that when I get to the screen to select the dvd drive nothing is populating that box to select.
When I try to run the event log I get the following Event Log service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running. In the services panel it is listed as running. However it is not. I have tried system restore but same issue. I don't know if it could be turned off in the registry or just what would cause this. I think the registry was modified and for some reason I have noticed certain registry entries don't always get restored if you use system restore.
Looked in the task manager today and noticed 4 separate entries for explorer.exe / windows explorer. Is this normal? Or does it indicate a problem? Windows 7 32 bit system.
When I go to the device and printer window there is nothing listed. There are printers and devices on the computer because everything works with the exception of the Bluetooth. The printer prints, but I have no way of knowing what is in the queue. This may have never worked since the beginning. I don't know if this is related, but, Internet Explorer does not work. I have downloaded it at least 4 times with the same results. It will not open.
Desktop comp. is Windows 7 Pro x64, laptop is Windows 7 Home Premium x32. Login passwords are the same. Homegroup was set up on the desktop, the laptop then joined. Homegroup passwords are the same. Both are members of "Workgroup" and are set as "Home Networks." Settings are per "Homegroup - Add Computer or Join"
The Windows generated library on the desktop, "Pictures" has five different locations in it, from three different drives. The "Documents"library has four different locations from three different drives, and the "Music" library has three different locations from two different drives. All the desktop libraries work as expected on the desktop.
All libraries, drives and folders are shared, and "Everyone" has all rights.
The laptop sees the desktop, and the three shared libraries. But it sees only one of each desktop libraries' several locations, the one that is listed first in the properties of the library on the desktop.
