View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of my screen, a menu opens. At the bottom of that menu is a line that says "all programs". It opens into a menu of programs on my machine.
Inside of "all programs" is listed a folder called Microsoft. Inside of it is Outlook 2010.
However, I recently wanted to send an email using Outlook 2010 by clicking on a link on a website. A window opened that would allow me to select the email client I wanted to use from a list of programs. But I can't find Outlook 2010.
When I click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of my screen & then on "computer" and then on C drive, there is listed in C drive two folders, Programs & Programs (x86). However, the Microsoft folder containing Outlook 2010 is not in either one of them.
When I did a search for Outlook 2010 on my C drive, the result said it can be found at C:ProgramDataMicrosoftStart MenuProgramsMicrosoft Office
However, I cick the Windows icon in the lower left corner of my screen & then on "computer" and then on C drive, I cannot find a ProgramData directory. So, where is my Ourlook 2010?
Having problem with graphics not showing up in email (Windows Live and Thunderbird). I have tried at least ten suggestions from internet but no help. Found that .jpeg is not listed in default - how do I make it show?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got 2 partitions, C drive being for the OS and D drive having my programs installed. I reinstalled Windows over the top the C drive with the impression that everything on my C drive would be wiped and replaced with the new system, and all the stuff on the D drive would be untouched (i.e. music, documents and program install files). The other day I upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 however now on the Add/Remove programs list no programs appear, yet I can still use some of them. For example I can use Steam by running the .exe in the install folder but doesn't appear on Add/Remove, and for example Itunes doesn't work at all using the same idea. Basically, have I screwed up my PC and the partitions from upgrading, a bad install or should I just reinstall all the programs from scratch?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen running several programs on my Dell Inspiron laptop (Windows 7).
1)Outlook keeps stopping, Windows says it's checking for problems and can't find any.
2)Can't open the volume control and I have no sound lthough when I hover over the small icon on the lower right of the computer it says its at 52%
3)Can't open Windows Movie Maker from the start menu or from locating the .exe file within the C: drive.
probably others I haven't encountered today.Running Windows 7 (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 1545, have had it over a year. Using Avira AntiVir personal, perform full scans each night. Problem began last night (5/4/11). I received a backup file for Quickbooks Pro 2011 via e-mail and tried to restore it to Quickbooks (something I do weekly). QB program would begin opening, but couldn't. After working with a great tech from Intuit we discovered the folder holding the QB data files was the problem (corrupted?) and worked around the problem by creating a folder on the desktop to use for data and backups.Steps I've taken so far:
1) Updated MalWarebytes AntiMalware and ran a full scan. No malicious software found.
2) Ran the defrag program. C: had 3% (if I remember right) fragmented, and it ran 5 passes to fix that.
3) Updated CCleaner and ran the cleaner to delete unneeded files.
5) Avira had run last night and found nothing, so I didn't run it again.
6) In looking at Task Manager there's a file that seems out of place: qbw32.exe *32 Quickbooks isn't open and the usual QB program file is just qbw32.exe without the *32, so maybe that's a clue.
7) Another possible clue: our other computer has slowed to a crawl..currently on its 16th hour running a malwarebytes scan. Both access the same verizon e-mail so maybe something came through e-mail to plague us.
When I save files from programs (aka Word, Photoshop, anything)onto my Desktop, I cannot see them directly from the actual desktop. I can only see them when I open up Explorer, and click on the Desktop tab. Then all my files are visible. I thought they were hidden...but they apparently aren't.It possibly seems like a refresh error.I did find a way around this..I go to Control Panel >> Appearance and Personalization >> Under Folder Options >> Show Hidden Files and Folders. I click on Reset folders, Apply, and then OK, and my missing files pop up on my actual desktop. But from then on, any new files I save are only visible in Explorer again. I don't want to go to Control Panel everytime I have to save something to the desktop? I've run Norton and Microsoft Essentials and I have no viruses. What can I do?I just found out I can also see my files after pressing f5 (refresh)so I guess the problem is HOW do I get my computer to refresh the desktop automatically?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy dad's computer is failing for some reason. Originally, I had it running on 32 bit but after a couple of updates it failed to boot continuously even after a chkdsk and startup repair. So I formatted it two more times with both times eventually failing to boot again.I reformatted again, but this time using 64 bit. Now there is a entry point not found on startup at the desktop. If I try to run an application like Firefox, a form of entry point not found message shows up, and it won't run I have tried sfc /scannow in command prompt, and it said that some files were unable to be repaired. chkdsk didn't find anything wrong. Do you think it's a bad hard drive?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI stumbled upon an old XP desktop appearance adjustment in Windows 7 which allowed me to set the spacing between desktop icons, both horizontal and vertical. You could also choose the font and the font size and, most importantly, the icon size. I was delighted. I could order my icons just the way I needed them for my busy desktop. But then my water-cooled processor water pump broke and spilled water in my tower. Hours later, I had an air cooler on the processor and all was right again.I could not remember how I came to that wonderful desktop grid adjustment box.I searched for a long time but have not been able to track it down. So now I wonder if any of you savvy experts could be kind enough to point the way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to download a PDF but something went wrong during the download and I ended up with a file icon on my desktop without any extension and having 0 bytes. When I try and delete this file icon I get the error message: "Could not find item. This is no longer located in C:UsersMynameDesktop. Verify the item's location and try again". This seems like a contradiction - Windows is showing a file icon on the desktop but then says there is no file there! I have tried searching for a file by that name elsewhere and there is nothing. I have also tried cleaning the reg and doing a disk cleanup. How to delete this useless file icon from my desktop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Google Chrome, AOE 3 and a number of other programs on the Administrators account. After reading that its not secure and is a best practice to create a second account for daily use I did that. I created the 2nd account with Administrative Rights, then reduced permissions to the first. However, I see that very few programs are available on the desktop of the newly created desktop. I want to share Chrome, AOE3 etc. for all users.Any ideas, am I missing something. I shouldn't have to reinstall all to the 2nd desktop right?

And all of it has the logo for VLc media player? so basically when i click it it loads on that program but it will not load it as it only does media files. And all the time I have to right click to say open file location then it finally loads the program. So my question is how do I put it all back to normal? View 1 Replies View Relatedremove ZeroAccess trojans that were traumatizing my laptop erfectly (used ComboFix,MalwareBytes and TDSSKiller) and the malware doesn't show up on any scans anymore (ran from Safe Mode), but I cannot access my desktop for more than 5min at a time before it freezes up and I have to manually shut down and start up again. I managed to re-install my Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 temporarily, but it doesn't show up on my desktop or taskbar. I have tried SFC/scannow returned :"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." My system restore does not work either for some reason since I got this laptop a year ago and Startup Repair shows no errors.. I am relatively good with computer diagnosis, but this one has me losing sleep for two days straight.
