I am using a hp w2207h. I want a software method that easily allows me to adjust the brightness. Currently I have to go through the monitors menu using the physical buttons on the monitor.

ive just recently installed Windows 7 Build 7100 on my eMachines E525 laptop, & i can't adjust the screen brightness with the 'fn' key anymore.
View 9 Replies View RelatedBut in the last couple months, once in a blue moon I couldn't change my screen brightness, and now in the last couple days it's gotten a whole lot worse. Usually, I can't change brightness either via my 'fn -/+' hotkeys or via the actual brightness slider in the power panel. A full reboot or simple hibernation then reboot both let me change brightness again. But the last couple days, restarting the computer just puts the brightness on either fully dimmed or fully bright, and I still can't change it.
This is an HP G60 laptop, and I've had windows seven for a year on it. Like I said above it only started a couple months ago then got worse this week, and what I've found on google so far was all for newly-updated-to-seven issues. My drivers all seem to be up to date according to the windows update driver function.
So here is my problem. I have an Acer Aspire 4540 laptop that I recently repaired after laying in my closet with a broken display for some time. So I took it to a repair center and got my new 14' LED display installed. Everything on my laptop is working fine, even my screen is working fine. The only issue I've noticed is that when I try to increase or decrease my screen brightness it cycles between the max and min settings rather than dimming or brightening respectively.
Now, I know I've had this issue before but I can't remember if it was already like this before the screen broke. I have tried rolling back, uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers several times yet the issue is still there.
Im running on Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD4200.
I know this is a small issue but I need to fix it since I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop.
im not the best when it comes to knowledge of computers and what not but i'm completely stumped and so is everyone else on the web, it seems. cant find a solution to this for nothing. i also did a search here on screen brightness problems and didnt find anything specific to my problem..basically i just installed windows home 7 ultimate on my hp dv5t after previously having vista on it and i cant find how to adjust the screen brightness.i've googled it and others have had the same problems but i cant find how to fix it. my fn shortcut doesnt work, and when i go to power options and all that, theres no slider or even option to adjust brightness. ive seen where it's supposed to be on windows 7 via Internet videos but it's not there. anyone know what to do, or has anyone heard of this??

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two monitors on my system (win 7) and from time to time the main monitor gets turned down in brightness. The other monitor is just find but something ( a virus, malware or program) is turning the brightness down for no reason. I have run malware and virus protection and found nothing.. Sometime is will be in the middle of a session and other times it will be on boot. It's not the monitor I'm sure (turning it on and off does not work) and it's always the same monitor that is effected.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Windows 7 RC1 and have noticed a behavioral change from XP which I would love to change.
In the NVIDIA control panel, there are 2 sets of settings for brightness:
1) Desktop color settings
2) Video color settings
In Windows XP, these would be completely independent. Thus for example, I could have my desktop dark while the videos could be bright and vivid.
Thus in XP:
Desktop Brightness = Desktop color settings
Video Brightness = Video color settings
In Windows 7, the OS only behaves this way when using Aero Basic. If I'm using the full Aero interface, I get the following behavior:
Desktop Brightness = Desktop color settings
Video Brightness = Desktop color settings + Video color settings
I would really love to have these control act independently on the full Aero interface. Is this possible? NVIDIA settings can obviously still distinguish the video because the video color settings still only apply to video, so I'm not sure why it behaves this way.
In the power settings, I set the monitor off time to 10 minutes.When I get away from my computer more than 10 minutes, an invisible program start running. It uses harddisk like crazy, and I also hear the CPU fan working faster.I used "Process Explorer" to detect this program. I see a "svchost.exe" terminating in the last second as soon as I turn the monitor on by a mouse move or keyboard input. Unfortunately I am not able to see the parent process because it terminates immediately when the monitor turns on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am starting to think I may have a power supply issue and none of the programs I use seem to monitor it correctly or the power supply is bad. I have been using TOverclocker (came with my Biostar MB), Speccy, Everest, HWinfo64, HWinfo32 and SpeedFan. None of these give me consistent measurements or measure the voltages wrong from opening the program. Is there a monitor program out there that is very good at measuring power supply voltages. My MB is a Biostar TZ68A+.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI assume something is polling the web or keeping my monitors alive but I can't figure it out.nothing has changed in my setup other than a possible windows update but in the last few weeks my screensaver stays on 24/7.I played with it today and got it to shut off but i set the screen off time at 2 minutes, just 1 minute after the screen saver.I am using ultramon on a dual monitor setup. and for a screensaver I am using gPhotoShow. (allows separate/distinct slideshows for each monitor) as I have been for several years.my assumption is something is now polling the net or doing some activity that is preventing the monitor from sleeping. This happens when the programs are maximized.

I cannot change the fonts in these two following windows. I would like to change all these fonts into Arial, but I cannot find a way to change them.I try to adjust them in personalization window coloradvanced appearance settings Active title bar or Menu. This method was practicable in browser menu, PDF files menu, etc. But it only failed to adjust these two windows...what a marvelous.BTW, since the fonts in this window are odd so that some contents in this window cannot be shown.

My laptop screen was procken and I replace it with a new screen. The new screen show more brightness and rong color compare with any other screen. Do I have to give the screen back to the company or I could adjust the color. the new screen is LG for example the yahoo messenger windows look reddesh Violet on any computer, but on my new laptop screen look blu Violet. Any way to set some sort of default start volume. What I was more or less looking for was a way to make the computer always start at a preset volume. As in if I was to have my laptop cranked on volume but after it is restarted it is low again.? If that makes sense.
