View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu on my computer a few months ago and created another partition for it on my 1TB hard drive. I didn't really care for Ubuntu so I decided to delete the partition it was on. That might have been a mistake. Well, now there's 87.68GB of free space on my hard disk that I can't use and I don't know how to add it back to my c: partition.
There was another post about this a couple years ago, but I don't understand the instructions and am not actually sure if it worked. Can someone explain how to do this, please? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I'm not familiar with partitioning disks. It was just the one time with Ubuntu.

Before I go any further, I would like to partition the 1tb hard drive into several drives. I have no idea how to do this.Everyone I have contacted, is a charge support. I can't go that way

View 9 Replies View RelatedI used MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional edition to merge two partitions and now my daughter's computer won't start.I installed a new 750 gb hard drive to replace her 320 gb drive. Everything was fine, but when I cloned her 320 gb hard to the 750 gb drive, it partitioned the drive so that 320 was allocated to the active boot system and the other 400-some were unallocated. I needed to merge both partitions so that all the space would be usable. This is how the drive was partitioned.B: System 199 MB --> C: Bootable Active 285 GB --> D: System Recovery 12 GB --> Unallocated 400 GB..MiniTool Partition Wizard will only allow you to merge two partitions that are next to each other, so in order to merge partition C with the unallocated partition I had to delete partition D.Everything was fine, but then MiniTool said it couldn't finish the merge process because partition C was in use. It told me to restart my computer to finish the merge process.I restarted the computer and now it won't boot. I download a Windows 7 64 bit recovery ISO and burned it to disk then popped it in the drive and restarted the computer but it still won't boot. I even went into BIOS settings and made sure that the CD/DVD drive is first in line in the boot order. It still won't boot. Not sure what to do from here. I'm a Mac user, my daughter has the Windows 7 computer, so I'm not exactly very well-versed in that operating system. Upgrading the hard drive on my Mac was very easy, no merging of partitions needed. How do I get my daughter's computer running and get the partitions merged?

1) Take my daughter's laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate on it and partition the only hard disk to have a C: drive (125 Gigs) and E: drive (75 gigs).
2) Setup Windows 7 backup to backup data and disk image of the C: drive TO the E: drive.
Works OK on backup if the hard drive fails, you loose everything C: and E: but if you want a quick fix for virus attacks on the C: drive, or a quick way to restore files to the C: drive.the 64 dollar question... I haven't tested this part yet but can you RESTORE the E: drive image of the C: drive using the SYSTEM REPAIR DISK ?? Would the restoration reformat the entire hard drive, and in effect crash the restore before it starts? Or would it just reformat the C: drive partition??
I just reinstalled Windows 7 on a new hard drive and during the installation process, I split the disk into two equal partitions of 500gb. In 'My Computer' I can only see one partition which is the C drive but not the other partition. Looking in Disk Management, the other partition seems to be labelled as 'Unallocated'. How can I allocate this into a usable D drive? I would have expected this to happen automatically during the installation process.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my partitions over several drives set for many months. Suddenly on boot this morning, one of the partitions isn't recognized by Windows (7 64-bit). My partition software (EaseUS Partition Manager Pro) does "see" it and shows the correct division of used and unused space. This is an NTFS partition with 11.86 GB capacity and 2.50 GB used. The status is None and the type is logical. The error message box title is "Location is not available". The message is:H: is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.I've had no activity in this partition for several days. The partitions on either side are fine (fingers crossed they stay that way!). They same the same characteristics (although obviously different capacities) as the missing partition.
