I have 16gb of memory and it's a second generation i7 2600K computer. I ran dskchk /r and disabled windows search. I have a anti-virus/malware. I've cleaned the reg. The doughnut looking cursor just spins for at least 30 seconds on every thing I do.
View 1 Replieswindows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI built my own computer last January and installed Windows Vista first and everything worked fine but then I upgraded to Windows 7.In the beginning it worked great, I did get the common problem of every kind of browser crashed every couple of hours and sometimes refused to load up again but i persist and put up with it.Then over the past 3-4 months, I have been getting regular BSOD - They used to be very similar screens and i am not fast enough to jott down the error codes sadly.I maybe receive 2-3 BSoD everyday and the most common issue i am experiencing is when i play World of Warcraft - since these BSoD began, this has been crashing a hell of a lot as well. I cant get an hours play on it without it crashing with the same issue.I put it to the forums with this error log Wow Crash 2/1/13 - Pastebin.com and was told to carry out some actions to see if this could resolve the matter which it did for a very short period of time (ie a day) and then came back with its constant WoWcrashes and BSoD
The BSoD happen when im on and off the game - a lot of the time its when a lot of processes are running, ie several tabs open in my browsers, spotify playing and maybe a couple of folders open - its as if it cant handle it running.I have tried to search for my dumplogs, i was told it was in %systemroot%minidump but its empty and there are no .dmp files on my computer except warcraft ones.
The computer will stop responding, the cursor shows the busy blue ring (spinning, not frozen), and I can still move the blue ring around, but unable to click on anything. CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work, nothing works. Tried leaving it overnight but it didn't solve the problem. I had to force shut down by holding the Power button.This problem happens at random times, while using random applications, online or not, sometimes within a few minutes after turning on the computer, sometimes hours, but it happens almost every time. I have also tried turning on the computer and left it without using anything, and the same problem will happen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a month-old Dell Inspiron N7010 Core i5 460M with 6 gigs of ram running on Windows 7. Until recently, it has been starting up in about 75 seconds. However, out of nowhere, it suddenly began starting up in between 2 and a half minutes to 3 minutes. I am completely baffled, and I do not know what is wrong. Could it have been something I installed, or is it something that is beyond my knowledge. The last things I downloaded before the problems started were Starcraft II, Need for Speed World, and Microsoft Security Essentials, but I doubt one of those is the source of problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I shut down Windows 7 x64 Pro, windows shut downs normally, power to screen turns off, but power to PC stays on, fans run. I have to force complete shut down by holding in the power button.
This issue is sporatic. Sometimes the PC shuts down completely, other times it does as described above. This issue started ocurring AFTER I installed a Crucail M4 SSD with a clean Windows 7 install. No other hardware changes.
Research lead me to changing the IEEE Power Managment to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." This solution did not work for me.
My System: Dell XPS 435 MT, ATI Radeon 4850 Graphics Card.
When i dial up, i get some Error Message 633 message about COM port being used by other application or modem not configured properly.
In device manager the modem seems OK, and i dont know of any other device using a COM port. I've tried different drivers, swapping the modem around inside the case but no joy and i'm getting really annoyed now.
In UNIX, for changing the directory path, there is "cd" command. .This works fine in windows 7 too.. But the problem comes when we are trying to change the path using environment variables. .
In UNIX, cd $JAVA_HOME changes the path to the value set for JAVA_HOME,
Similarly is there any command in Windows which does the trick from command prompt for changing path using Environment variables. .
Does any one know how to get the win.ini missing fixed when opening bootcfg/msconfig not found. Also How to change "forcing changes in msconifg" to "not forcing changes" in msconfig from command prompt, as well as opening msconfig from command prompt w/ dos command(s) / paramteters.

I have windows firewall on, but haven't really made any other changes.My cursor flashes the busy symbol about once every 4-5 seconds, and it does so whenever the mouse is on the desktop or anywhere it shows the regular icon. When inside this text window it changes to the text cursor and ceases to flash, however. I changed the icon only to have the new one act the same.

There are no programs trying to open and nothing being downloaded , it happens just by moving the mouse. I already ran a full scan and there are no viruses. I went to the Microsoft website forum but they don't really seem to know what is causing this problem. I read that it might be Constant Guard which is offered by Comcast with Norton so I uninstalled it but that didn't help , I also read it might be the printer software but I haven't tried that yet

I think that the hard drive may have gone bad, and when I did a memory diagnosis, I have found that there is bad memory with my main hard drive. I do not have the original disk, nor can I access any of the files. I tried system Recovery, but it would not list W7 as an option. If someone knows where I could find those drivers to load onto a disk, that would be great. My computer is a Dell Studio 1535.

I haven't noticed the webpages hanging in any way or refreshing; that is to say there are none of the blue rotating circles in any of the open webpage process tabs that would indicate any new webpage activity specific to that webpage loading into the page's process. I tend to notice this happening when I am reading a page with no additional interaction--I am typically not even touching the mouse when I see it occur.Basically, I am wondering what different things might be causing the momentary activity. I am using Google Chrome for my browser and have nineteen extensions installed, so, I was thinking possibly I am seeing an extension occasionally updating or possibly checking for updates. That is just an uneducated speculation out of the blue. It also may be that this has always happened since loading Chrome, that for some arbitrary reason I just began to focus on it, and, having now fixated upon it, it stands out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI shut down windows 7, and it seems to, but the computer fans / lights / drives /Ram all still have power. I tried searching my power options and making sure everything was set properly, etc. I even re-flashed my bios. I didn't make any major changes like add new hardware / software, only some windows updates that I've now rolled-back. It looks like one or two people just had to adjust a power setting, but that does not seem to be my issue. I don't want to re-install windows.

The issue might be on the server end. I don't know. The situation is this I have internet access and many web sites are consistently difficult to access. A good example would be Newegg.com and their pages as well as the links to their site that I click in the email they send me. The blue busy circle stay in an endless loop. I can access there site sometimes if I persistently tap F5 (refresh). While this issue is a problem with many web sites that I try to access some pull up instantly. Is there something I can do to fix this or could it be the ISP or a server issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got a brand new Samsung Series 7 laptop and everything was working fine until i started installing windows updates. The cpu is now stuck at around 15% load and there's constant disk activity too. I run msconfig.exe and disabled programs that I don't really use much, run disk defrag just too make sure the disk was working well. As a result my cpu is running hot (65 degrees) and the battery drains pretty quick.

When I open it, the screen stays off.The only way to fix it from here is to either turn it off or to put it in sleep mode (with my designated button).
