Some background; I am a quadriplegic and use a combination of a mouth operated mouse, voice recognition and the on-screen keyboard to control the PC. I also have a high level of PC knowledge (I used to be an IT consultant) but I have been unable to resolve the following issue.
Sometimes when I hover over the onscreen keyboard to type in an application (like notepad) it will automatically switch to the last application I was typing in (like firefox or Internet Explorer). It does not happen all the time and it does not happen if I use the applications in quick succession (i.e. directly one after the other).
An example, say I have been using firefox and the on-screen keyboard to fill out an online form then I might go move some files around from one hard drive to another. Then I might start Word and dictate a letter using voice recognition (without touching the on-screen keyboard). Then I might need to go back to Windows Explorer to rename a file, so I get file ready to be renamed go to type the name in using the on-screen keyboard and as soon as the cursor goes over the On-screen keyboard it will switch to firefox and make it the active window.
I have tried many times to replicate this to find a distinctive pattern but I have been unsuccessful and it seems to be very much random and quite annoying.
I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and if so have they been able to resolve it.
I have strange unusual problem with my on-screen keyboard. When I try to open(run) osk.exe from any location even from shortcut instead of poping out a on-screen keyboard the menu start on windows7 is opening again. what action to take to open the real keyborad not start menu?

I reinstalled (Windows 7 Pro x64) on my computer. I want to configure the available keyboard layouts at the login screen. For now, there's 4 different layouts at the login screen and it has keyboard layout French (France) on default. When I got in windows, I configured so it only had the good one (French (Canada))(I deleted all the useless ones) but when I logged out, it still had the 4 same keyboard layouts at login screen. Even the default one wasn't the one I hoped it would use.
I have a viewsonic tablet with windows 7 home premium 32bit. Would like to use the on-screen keyboard, but recently it won't load up and get an error message "Could not start on-screen keyboard"... have read through forums here, and nothing has solved so far.

I use on screen keyboard a bit and have the problem that when I have multiple programs running when I click on the task bar to bring up keyboard (already running) it brings up the last program I was using before the one I am currently on. E.g. may be using windows live mail and then click over to IE and then click on task-bar to bring up on screen keyboard and it will come up ok but also re-maximize or bring to top windows live mail.
I NEED a way to open multiple instances of the Windows On-Screen Keyboard at once. Right now, if i try to open it a second time, it opens the first one (doesnt create a new instance).
i have been to many forums on the internet and still cant find a clear solution. I considered getting a third party control for this, but even they are opening only once.
how can i choose a user in the win 7 welcome screen using only the keyboard (without using the mouse)?
I'm hoping there is some sort of key combination that may be used to choose the user so that i won't have to use the mouse in order to login.
I would prefer not having to change the standard welcome screen to the domain login screen in which i believe it is possible. I'm using Win 7 professional.
I'm running Windows 7 Retail x64 and everytime I try to exit On-Screen Keyboard my system freezes for about 10-15 seconds.

I have a desktop computer running Windows 7 64-bit. I have had it around 1 month and just today have found it keeps freezing on me. The screen literally freezes on one image and I cannot move the mouse/use the keyboard. The fans are still running inside the PC and I cannot see why this happens.
I have started using an ASUS slate and find the Windows on-screen keyboard almost impossible to use because of the way the keys flash after you touch them (or even hover over them) - the fade delay is way too long resulting in a mass of flashing keys when typing with any sort of speed. I would have expected this to be a setting under the keyboard options or general personalization but no amount of digging or Google searching has turned anything up for me. Does anyone know how I can turn this off or at least reduce the fade delay time?
So I have a little problem with my mouse and keyboard. It stops working at the login screen. The same thing happens when I try to log on safe mode, etc.

I have had my HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC (with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1) for less than a year and I am encountering a ton of problems.Whenever I go to open a program, it unresponds for a short while before I can continue to use it.Sometimes my keyboard acts up, for e.g. if I were to press T whilst in an internet browser, it would open a new tab, as if I was pressing the CTRL button when I'm not.Sometimes my laptop shuts down - sometimes there is a blue screen error message before, other times it just shuts down without one.I have Trend Micro Tiatanium anti-virus protection and have done scans and nothing has showed up.
