View 3 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that my fan runs very loudly and does not turn off during idle/slow periods. I downloaded the speedfan program and this is how it looks currently. [URL]I don't think the difference between idle and running Chrome + Steam in the background would be enough to matter, so i'm not in a completely idle mode now. This is essentially my constant setup.I'm rather inept when it comes to these things so i'm really not sure if this is even a problem or not. I know that cpu fans are always running, but i can't imagine 2800-2900 rpm being an idle speed. My temperatures are stable(as far as i know) and they only get to about 45% during heavier cpu usage. I cleaned out the dust in the system, but i think i may have missed the heatsink or whatever itself.I have also heard that doing a disk cleanup and defragmentation can solve the issue of a fan running constantly, however, doing that did not seem to help.

So, my question: is that a lot?
If not, how much is a lot?
What is normal?
And what is low?
What is the maximum operating temperature for the i7-3770k? And what would happen when it reaches it?

I've had my system for 2 years now, and only recently did this problem start. I use Realtemp to show my CPU temperature at all times. On average, my idle temp is between 25-35C (depending on ambient temperature). On heavy loads it goes to maybe 60C Every night, I put my computer to sleep (I almost never shut it down before going to bed). Recently, when I resume it the next day, I see the CPU temperature steadily climbing. Going past 50, 55, 60, 65, at which point I immediately shut down my system. (power off)
After a ton of speculation, a bit of denial, and a ton of testing we finally have our answer. The thermal interface material change made by Intel when it went from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge is indeed the cause of the excessive temperatures weve observed while overclocking. The first accusation was made in late-April by Overclockers.com, however proving it wasn't easy. The Japanese division of PC Watch somehow managed to remove the integrated heat spreader from a Core i7 3770k, along with the stock binding and grease. They then proceed to replace it with aftermarket alternatives, and the results speak for themselves.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy old computer's temperature sensor is either broken or I am doing something wrong. The general specs of it are:
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
Intel 946G Motherboard
Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz
3 GB DDR2 533 Ram
ATI Radeon x1650 pro
When I go into bios and read the cpu temperature from there, it starts at around 70C and slowly rises until it eventually hits 100C and shuts down. This takes about 5-10 min before it hits 100C. When I enter Windows, it starts at around 60C and it actually goes up to 80C when I am playing games. This is way hotter than normal. It does not rise like in bios and goes back to 60C when idle. Prior to this, the temperature actually hit 100C and it shut down my computer. I bought a new heatsink thinking it would solve the problem, but clearly it did not. The temperature is still too hot.
Since a brand new heatsink did not work, I thought it was cpu problem for sure. I borrowed one of my friend's Celeron D and installed it. I entered bios and what do you know, it stays at 42C and does not even budge. So at this point, I'm 100% sure it's a cpu problem. I decided to buy an intel pentium D 945 3.4Ghz. I installed it and was extremely happy thinking my cpu's temperature would be decent. I entered bios and what do you know, it does exactly the same thing my 820 2.8Ghz did. It starts around 70C and the damn thing keeps on rising. So I decided to go into windows to see how the temperatures were in there. It idles at around 47-49C. When I ran prime95 for a test, the cpu went all the way up to 93C before I decided to shut it off and not do any further damage.
My new nVIDIA GTX 560 Ti is running real weird, it quickly rises upto 45+ celsius (don't know if that's normal) and sometime it locks up my PC. I am running the latest nVIDIA driver, any help? It's not overclocked.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just cleaned my laptop and it released a lot of dust, so my temperature is lower. The weather is currently very, very, very hot and my laptop is running 55-60C normally when i browse the internet, in a very hot room. Before i cleaned it - it was very hotter. I'm even sweating and i don't wear a shirt. But that's not the point. I i am running prime95 to test the processor, and after 1 minute of 100% usage it gets to 90C in the hot room again. But when i go to a clearly cold room, it doesn't turn off, it barely reaches 80-85C but never the maximum 90C.are the fans not spinning correctly or is the room temperature really important for a laptop?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my new computer with Windows 7 Home Basic and it runs great. I like the gadgets but have a question. My CPU temperature is about 140 degrees, and when I run a high-tech game it rises to 160 degrees. It runs fine, but is this what the rest of you are getting?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI overclocked my cpu to 3GHz along with RAM (running at 1333MHz). Did stress test for 9 and half hours and everything seems stable. Prime 95 doesn't show any errors and max temperature it reached was 48. I also did winsat mem test but max it goes was upto 5960.97MB/s (Without OC, it scores upto 4721 MB/s). I'm pretty sure my ram is capable of running higher.

It's not MY DOCUMENTS, but rather, the Libraries-Documents folder (versus the my documents under my user profile/name).The folder is FULL of garbage. This includes things that appear to be "temp files" (but with valid file types such as jpg, mp3)also in there doc files, png, tdb, diz, ebc, and others I don't even recognize. Some of these things include package files from the Sims series games (there were a TON of them in there) and others included pictures that I did NOT save locally (as if it were a temp file from the web)There are even many duplicates of some of these pictures. Some I *DID* save as part of a genealogy project, but I didn't save them there.I saved them in a completely different folder with a completely different name.I've got a LOT of work ahead of me cleaning this sucker out (thousands of files to the tune of 16.5gigs...seriously).How are these files getting here and how can I prevent it from happening again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my desktop a while, however it continues to frequently shutdown randomly for an unknown reason. Initially I suspected it was a bad PSU, so had it RMAd, however same problem exists. It should be providing plenty of power to the mobo and other devices being a 500W, however I read on other forums the particular model has tendancies to automatically shutdown at PEAK LOAD. Its a OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W. This is darn annoying if it is and may still be the problem. It might be another software or hardware issue though. I have fresh installed it before suspecting it was drivers, with default recognised drivers for GPU etc. However problem remains. All hard ware is compatible[CODE]
