during the setup I have no "advanced" option at the partitions menu which must contain the, formatting option. I have the partitions menu and only two buttons under it: "Refresh" and "Load Driver"
In this tutorial, you will see some advanced techniques for working with and customizing the Start Menu. You'll learn about the privacy options for the Start Menu and how to clear recently used programs as well as how to personalize the options available on the right of the menu.
Everytime I restart the computer it boots into a repair mode, attempts to repair my computer, and then tells me "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically". Why it's doing this I don't know, the system was working fine an hour ago.The only change I made was to attempt to make my RAID work, I rebooted, entered BIOS and changed my "Sata Operation Mode" to "RAID",then the problems started happening. I tried turning it back, even resetting BIOS defaults, but no go. During the boot up though I turned my comp off during the middle of windows loading, I wonder if that could have caused the problem?I know it's not recommended but it's something I've always done and never had a problem with.I've been trying to access my Advanced boot menu to start windows normally(perhaps it's stuck in some kind of repair cycle?) but pressing f8 does nothing, I've tried a thousand times.
I put in my Windows 7 disk and attempted a repair through there which halfway worked. When I boot up now it gives me two OS options to choose from, Windows and Windows 7 Home Premium (Recovered). The latter one boots up windows fine but all of my files are gone and it's telling me my copy of windows is not genuine! I had the majority of my data so it's not a huge deal to do a clean install but I would like to avoid that if possible.I'm using an asrock 890fx mobo with AMD processor.
Whenever I buy a TV show or movie, I put them in the correct partition (T: for TV shows and M: for Movies), and rename them so I can easily search for them. For example, I've got the 1st episode of the 1st season of "Through The Wormhole" named as: Through The Wormhole S01 E01
I used to just be able to type that into the search box and it would give me the exact result. I recently split all my media across 2 hard drives and reinstalled Windows - now I cannot search for anything in the M: and T: drives.
I'm trying to partition my 500 GB hard drive into 3 drives total. Right now, there is only a C Drive, but I want to divide that.
When I go into the Windows 7 installation, this is what I see:
Extend and new are grayed out, and even in disk management, there is no unallocated space.
Can somebody please guide me into partitioning this hard drive. I've searched and the only answers I find are for dual boot setups. Partition Magic is not supported by Vista (.: 7 as well).
why is it that the 'pin to start menu' option is not available when rt clk on most shortcuts.it seems to work for some shortcuts (ones on the desktop) and most program files, but if I rt clk a shortcut in WE the option is not there.
Recently I've disabled hibernation ( powercfg -h off in cmd ) on my computer coz I'm using an SSD and I wanted more space. Now I wanna have it back ( powercfg -h on in cmd ) but the option to hibernate does not show up in start menu.I can choose to hibernate after clicking power button in power options and hibernation itself is working.
I am missing the mail recipient option in the sub menu off Send To. I have checked that it is in the send to folder and it is in the shell. The other user on the computer can do this. So I copied that icon and replaced the one that was not working. Same result. I have checked the program defaults. I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.
Reinstalled Windows 7 pro 64-bit for my friend's PC but after Windows updates the Search ( search programs and files ) the line under All Programs has disappeared (( this is a screenshot from my computer to explain better what I am talking about
I have a Realtek built-in sound card. I've got a GA-990FXA-UD3 GIGABYTE mobo, and that's all I'd think matters. It was working a little while ago (Yesterday) with no problems. When I got home, the little speaker thingy on the bottom right had an error thing next to it.So, I looked in the volume settings to check stuff out, and but when I click "OK," it goes back to the lonely, empty, no speaker'd room.
1. "System reserve" which contains e.g.the Bootmamanger and MBR 2. First Win 7 installation ("main") 3. Second Win 7 installation ("reserve")
When I boot now at first the Bootmanager on the first primary partition is called/started which in turn starts the boot menu. In the boot menu there are currently two entries:
Windows 7 Windows 7
So I cannot distinguish between the "main" and the "reserve" Win 7 installation. How exactly can I modify/rename the two "Windows 7" entries in boot menu? After selecting and booting the actual Windows 7 installation the other Windows 7 installation is visible as a separate partition in WinExplorer:
C: Running Windows 7 D: DVD drive E: Other (non-booted) Windows 7
How can I automatically hide the other Windows 7 installation? The drive E: should be available e.g. for USB sticks or network drives.
Back when I had windows XP when I had magic disk installed I could right click an iso file and mount it. in windows 7 I don't get this option. how do I add this option to the right click menu?
In Windows Live Mail (pop3) I want to create a rule so that if the sender is not in my contacts/address book the email is sent to the Junk Folder. The Rules menu does not seem to offer this very simple option for sorting junk mail.
window programs adding that function to only .jpg but not other format.no I do NOT want to know how to add those functions to other format, and NO I do NOT want to learn or get use to it, I want it removed.I used default program editor, it doesn't show the way to remove it.I tried using shellexview, shellmenuview, both not user friendly, cant seem to find what I want. However I have found the registry in regedit to the rotate ones through shellviews but it won't let me make any changes. I tried giving permission so i can change it but it wont give me permission to give permission to change. when i change it says some program still running it but of course nothing is running it and ontop of all that I don't even know how or what to change.
One of my friends has a windows 7 computer with an account for himself, his mother and his 2 sisters. All the home directorys are stored in drive C. Partition D is shared. The question is, how to get a partition layout like this?
Partition 1: OS + programs Partition 2: home partition for himself Partition 3: home partition for his mother Partition 4: home partition for his sister Partition 5: home partition for his other sister Partition 6: shared partition for some photos.
In my laptop existing OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
Hardware config is HP i7 Quad processor 1.7 GHz. 4 GB DDR3 Ram, 500 GB HDD.
My system perf is slow. I installed few softwares. I have deselected most of the startup services and programs from msconfig. Eventhough my system bootup time is slow, and whenever i open mycomputer it taking time to load.
I have decided to install Windows 7 Enterprise Edition x64 by formatting my C drive. But there is no option while i do clean install.
What do you guys think is the best way to make custom windows 7 images? I have been looking at RT 7 Lite but its missing a lot of the functionality i was hoping for. Any know of any better alternatives?
I'm looking for some help with some Windows Firewall advanced settings. I've already downloaded Vista Firewall Control to simplify the firewall setup, and its really doing what I want (asking me for any inbound and outbound connections), but the free version doesn't allow control over general network access (at least not that I can find so far). I need to get my Windows 7 computer to recognize my WinXP in the network screen, something that I can't seem to do without making some special rules in the firewall settings.
I've already turned off "password protected sharing" and set the "send password" option in gpedit.msc to enabled... settings which worked well in a previous install (AVG removed my access to folder options so I had to reinstall), but I can't seem to get to work now that I've installed VFC. So I guess I need to know what "rules" I need to set up to retain the strict control over inbound/outbound connections that I've got with VFC, but still allow easy network access between the 2-3 computers on my router.
windows7 in "change sharing options for different network profiles" it always sets the current profile to "public" and i need it to change to "home or work" and i can not change this. it will not connect to my access point therefore. it sees the access point but will not connect. if i plug in the cable it goes with no problem to the home or work network.
I have a installation issue with a x64 w7 RC and I am trying to configure my G-13 advanced gaming keyboard ( the controller thing) it will run and functional but only for default settings when I try to customize the settings I get the default settings..
I know that the full version can be achieved while holding the shift key, but is there way to bypass that and have the regular full sized menu by default?
