Recently I've disabled hibernation ( powercfg -h off in cmd ) on my computer coz I'm using an SSD and I wanted more space.Now I wanna have it back ( powercfg -h on in cmd ) but the option to hibernate does not show up in start menu.I can choose to hibernate after clicking power button in power options and hibernation itself is working.
View 3 RepliesAfter some recent updates and/or software installs, at some point the "hiberation" option no longer appeared in my start menu shutdown options. I searched the web and found many posts suggest that the fix is simple -- all I have to do is enable hiberation via one of two ways
- run "powercfg -h on" from an elevated command prompt
- modify the registry to enable hibernation
Well I did both those things and neither worked.The registry already had the correct value for the key -- hibernation is enabled.
why is it that the 'pin to start menu' option is not available when rt clk on most shortcuts.it seems to work for some shortcuts (ones on the desktop) and most program files, but if I rt clk a shortcut in WE the option is not there.

It's mainly in the hibernation field and it started when i turned the start up GUI off (saved me about 15 seconds in start up) and first installed Ubuntu. I've read elsewhere and it said that my drivers need updated, but Windows update AND HP support assistant said that everything's up-to-date. I want to start from hibernation again. Oh, one more thing the screen is just a white dash (_).

2. When I right-click on "open recent program" icon on Star Menu I can't delete from list.
I am missing the mail recipient option in the sub menu off Send To. I have checked that it is in the send to folder and it is in the shell. The other user on the computer can do this. So I copied that icon and replaced the one that was not working. Same result. I have checked the program defaults. I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.

The Rules menu does not seem to offer this very simple option for sorting junk mail.
I'm still fairly new to windows 7 and i have found a bug or something with mine. I normally have my windows start bar (the bar with all my open windows) set to be transparent. When I close my laptop screen it sets it to hibernation and a good portion of the time when I start it up again my start bar will be a solid light blue color.
It changes the way the windows work and frankly it's annoying! When I restart the computer it goes back to normal but there are times that I can't restart it due to a buggy Art program that won't allow me to save for a while and I'll loose everything. When I go into personalization I try and fix it and even if I change it back to transparent it stays solid until I restart my computer.
When I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.

When I put my computer in hibernation, sometimes when I wake it, it hangs at the user select screen, or it just shows a black screen. Sometimes I can reset the computer after it has hanged, and try again resuming from hibernation, and many times it will work after a couple of tries. Other times after resetting I won't get the prompt to try again with resuming (the other option is to delete hibernation data and reboot the system) but I will get the usual screen that says that Windows was not shut down correctly (with all the options for safe mode, etc). If I cannot resume and I get the screen with safe mode and all the other crap, I finally log in I get a notice that there was a critical error, in the details I see BlueScreen and other data, but I actually never get a blue screen. In the dump folder, there are no dmp files related to the hibernation hanging.
Anyway, when it happens, I see several Event 18 WHEA-Logger in the event viewer, about 6 of them every time.What's weird though, is that I literally have NO problems with this computer other than this. The only times it hangs is when I resume it from hibernation. I can play games or run stress tests with or without overclock and the system is 100% stable. But there is some problem that prevents it from resuming from hibernation correctly, so every time I use it is basically a gamble because it has like 50% chance of working.I tried EVERY SINGLE solution I found with google related to hibernation problems, and it's still there. I even formatted and reinstalled Windows from scratch, and it's still there. I'm positive I updated every single driver for every hardware I have and nope, no solution.I know the WHEA error is related to the hardware but like I said, everything works PERFECTLY once the system starts up properly, or when it resumes from hibernation properly. View 8 Replies View RelatedOccasionally, as this PC is booting up, it asks if I want to Start Windows Normally. I press enter for this. However, if I don't do anything, because I am out of the room, it still goes ahead after 15 seconds. In this case, though, I can't operate any of the programs that come up on Windows 7 home edition. When I click on my Firefox browser for example nothing happens. I then have to reboot the PC (switching it off and on) and make sure I'm in front of the PC to press enter when this message comes up. Then all the programs run as normal. Is there any way of stopping it asking me?

I tried to reboot in safe mode but the pc became unresponsive. I also tried using the system restore disc but again nothing.

I wanted to load up windows xp onto that small partition, F, so as to see if it would allow me to operate better, as I have a gaming laptop that seems to be suffering from a memory hog svchost. Anyway, now that I've booted up to the F partition and working in XP, I find that I dislike it, I also can't figure out how to connect to the internet. My issue is, I can't figure out how to boot to the C, my Windows 7, the original OS. I'm not given an option upon startup and I can't find anything in my BIOS that is obviously pertaining to my issue.
