Capture A Section Of The Screen In Win 7
Nov 22, 2009I am curious, Mac's have a feature I saw someone at work use where you can capture a screen shot by dragging out a square (I think they used Cmd+Shift+4 or something) and saving the image inside the square as a capture - Does Windows 7 have anything like that? Or is there an app I can download to allow me to do that?

Oct 15, 2011I have fifteen "emails" in the unread emails box that cannot be deleted. They are somehow left over from the enormous number of folders and emails transferred to WLM from Win Mail. If I click on them, I get a "Message Cannot Be Displayed" message. They are in bold and with a little yellow envelope on their left. Many times I've marked them as read and tried to delete them. They will then turn color as if they have been read, but when I try to delete them they go back to the "unread" look. Like the old Baptist choir, they will not be moved.

Fonts Section Of The Control Panel ?
Jul 12, 2010I seem to have a large number of fonts on my relatively new and sparsely populated Win7x64 pro system.They have weird Asian names such as BatangChe and Aparajita and DaunPenh and DokChampa. They all appear in the Fonts section of the Control Panel with oriental font symbols (kanjii?) in place of the customary "ABC" and they are all greyed out.When I try to delete them Windows will not let me claiming that these fonts are "system fonts." Is that true? Are they system fonts? I find it hard to believe. I've never seen these fonts in any previous system.I did not install these fonts, I will never use them. I do not want them. Is there any way to change the properties on these files so that I can delete them without getting a pop up saying that they can't be deleted?Or should I just leave them alone?

May 30, 2010I have got the following problem: After the installation is complete and I restart, I still got the same menu with language selection and installation stuff. How do I get past this? Also I have managed to get into Windows 7 when I found something strange. The partition I have selected in the erase menu is not there! So I have no idea where is my Mac installation. Using Partition Wizard I saw that the 17 gb partition that I wanted to use for the OS installation is not fat32 or ntfs but "other" and it's fully used (0 kb unused). Also using EasyBCD I assigned an entry for Mac os x86 generic but as a default it goes to drive c to NST folder but there, there is only 1 file.

Nov 27, 2010i have a problem that i really need fixed asap. i recently had surgery and am currently in alot of pain and not that mobile. i use my WMC via XboX to help me deal with all of it. however it now freezes every time i go into the video section. the music, movie and everyother section works fine. on the PC it freezes immediately and on the xbox it gives you about 10 seconds before freezeing. done the steps here: [URL] the problem persists on a clean boot.

What Happens When Section Of Indexed Locations Is Deleted In Windows 7
Feb 14, 2013I found a file named Index Locations under Searches in Windows 7. I thought it was rather long, so I deleted a section prior to January 2013. A box came up saying French could not be ????? but could be deleted permanently. clicked YES. Then I noticed that the number of icons on my desktop (where I keep most of my folders and files) appeared to have shrunk.Have I lost any folders and files and is there any way to retrieve them ??

This was a problem considering my C drive was nearly full.4) I decide to just put new files to the D Drive and that I will copy files over to the D drive to use it as my primary driver. I use Yahoo!Answers as my reliable source of information on all things registry. After following the instructions that I can no longer find, I edited several files in the registry, believing myself to have changed the primary drive from C to D.
5) ^^ The above instructions given were most likely from an epic troll. Everytime I open any System 32 file I get an error that Windows cannot C:/Windows/System32/Application I tried to open/etc... This includes, sadly, my regedit application.6) I copied my System32 folder over to my D drive and attempted to open the application from over there, but it has not worked.7) Many files on my computer are unable to be found by windows, System32 is not the only case. It appears to be somewhat random8) I tried as a cop-out way to fix this to create a new User Account, and that also failed... It simply will not open the Control Panel section for creating a new account.9) Lastly... and perhaps this was my stupidest mistake of all... I never created a recovery disk.
Vista Hack To Remove Folders Section Of NavPane?

I know I can drag it down to the bottom. But it won't stay there. I move to another location in Explorer and it insists on expanding that stupid Folders section cutting into the space for the Favorites.

Firewall Advanced Setup
Feb 11, 2009I'm looking for some help with some Windows Firewall advanced settings. I've already downloaded Vista Firewall Control to simplify the firewall setup, and its really doing what I want (asking me for any inbound and outbound connections), but the free version doesn't allow control over general network access (at least not that I can find so far). I need to get my Windows 7 computer to recognize my WinXP in the network screen, something that I can't seem to do without making some special rules in the firewall settings.
I've already turned off "password protected sharing" and set the "send password" option in gpedit.msc to enabled... settings which worked well in a previous install (AVG removed my access to folder options so I had to reinstall), but I can't seem to get to work now that I've installed VFC. So I guess I need to know what "rules" I need to set up to retain the strict control over inbound/outbound connections that I've got with VFC, but still allow easy network access between the 2-3 computers on my router.

Jun 13, 2012When I go to Indexing Options within the Control Panel, the dropdown informs me that "Indexing is not running" and only the Advanced button is available. I really don't seem to be having problems with my searches although many a time when doing a search , there is a banner saying that "Your searches may be slow because index is not running." I will then click the prompt to index. The searches seem to be fast enough, but I really can't tell if they should be faster.Even though I have selected to index, when prompted, going into Index Options will still show that the index is not running??? Could it be that this action is only temporary at its time of use? Once I get indexing working, I would imagine that I would like to choose just those folders where speedy searching would be of benefit, but I'm not sure which files/folder they should be. I'm thinking Pictures, Music, Documents, Program Files (x86), Program Files.

May 14, 2009I have blocked all outbound traffic in the advanced firewall window and have tried to make a rule to allow Internet Explorer and Firefox through but with no joy. I have looked through previous posts but couldnt find an answer.
I have tried the Sphinx software but I don’t really need that or really want it. I just want to let browsers, anti virus and windows update through. I used to let windows update on vista through by allowing svchost through but only allowing the update service.
I allowed TCP port 80 through but that just let’s most things through.
The process I did was create a new outbound rule, choose program path, choose allow (not block by default), apply to all profiles and then name the rule. But it just wont go through so I am wondering what I am doing/not doing?!
I have also tried the normal firewall window (control panel, windows firewall) and let firefox through but still didnt work for me.
