No HDD Has Been Identified In System

Jun 25, 2012

i got the error A disk error has occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart and i get an infinite loop. So i googled around and saw someone said use HDD diagnostic, i used Ultimate Boot CD followed his steps and it says: No Hard Disk Drive has been identified in your system. The following are the possible causes: - HDD POWER CABLE IS NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE HDD (After turning off the power to the system, please check the HDD power cable.) - HDD INTERFACE CABLE IS NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE HDD (After turning off the power to the system, please check the HDD interface cable.) - HDD MASTER-SLAVE SETTING IS INCORRECT (After turning off the power to the system, please confirm the appropriate jumper setting for the HDD. power down your PC system, check the above items, and then restart the program. If after checking the possible causes, the problem still persists, it is possible that the HDD itself is faulty.

Heres how it got to that.

1) Laptop crashed.
2) Went to do clean install of Windows 7 off USB (Its the right version with SP1 dont worry)
3) Got stuck at 13%
4) Stupid me turned it off
5) Get error "A disk read error has occured"
6) Got diagnostic report right up there^

2nd Installed Harddrive Identified By Windows 7 As "System Reserved"

Sep 9, 2012

I purchased a new 1TB harddrive to host Windows 7. The installation was without any problem. Prior to installation, I removed all harddrives, including another 1TB data backup harddrive.

When I installed the second drive, with all my important backed up data, it comes identified by Windows 7 as drive D: System Reserved. There are no contents despite the properties indicating about 40% used space. How can I get access to this drive?

Non-System Disk Identified As System Disk?

Jan 25, 2012

I was going to make a disk image of a fresh Windows 7/64 install but when attempting to do so using the windows utility it insists on labeling and including in the image a completely separate data-only disk claiming it is also a system disk. Unfortunately it will not allow me to un-check for purposes of exclusion.

Probably should be looking at the root of the problem and determine why this Data Disk is labeled a System Disk. It is an older drive and has been used in a couple computer builds so may have at one time had an OS installed but I can find no indication of such, plus, I usually format before re-purposing.

PC Has Identified Error With HDD - Backup Data

May 14, 2010

Your HDD has the SMART Predict Failure function which monitors the HDD operating status. Your HDD is experiencing a problem and SMART monitoring software predicts that the HDD will fail. Toshiba strongly recommends you create a back-up for your HDD data. Then contact an authorized service provider in order to check your drive and purchase a new replacement drive if necessary.

Is the error that I am receiving on my PC and it is a Toshiba P505 S8980 and it requires me to press F! at start up to use the pc cause it says the PC has Identified an error with the HDD (Hard Drive) and the SMART system suggest to partner with my manufature to fix the issue. I have ran several test with a tune up tool and it says that my P.C. is operating correctly and it is running just fine but the error will not go away and I am starting to worry that the Hard Drive is failing because of this message.

It is still under warranty and I have contact Toshiba and they want me to send it back to fix the issue but I don't want to have to start all over again by reinstalling all my programs etc... I have them all back up on an external hard drive but it is difficult to reload everything. If I have to do it I will but my computer will not let me reset to factory settings either and I am lost on this one.

Steelseries Siberia V2 Usb Sound Card Not Identified

Apr 4, 2012

I made a major upgrade yesterday (from a 6-7 year old mobo and processor to a Asus p8z68-v gen 3 and and i5 2500k) and i had to install a fresh copy of windows 7 (32bit). Windows does not recognize my steelseries usb sound card and shows it as a "USB PnP Sound Device" in the device manager. I have not had much time to test it, but so far i did not have any major problem with sound (microphone works fine too) except that it might be a little low quality? What bugs me is that this sound card was properly recognized in my old computer and i do not remember putting much effort into it back then. This computer has no problem identifying my mouse (logitech g3) and my DVD-drive. Also, I am only using the usb ports on the back of the PC (the ones that sit directly on the mobo).

How Machine In Sleep / Hibernate Mode Identified On Network

May 4, 2012

How a machine Windows 7 or XP once goes to sleep/hibernate mode, can be identified on the network to do a Wake-On-LAN. Because the machine is shutdown, the ping does not give a response. In a DHCP environment, when the machine goes to sleep mode, the ip is released so not necessarily the machine can be identified with its IP.

Multiple BSOD At Random Times With Multiple Drivers Identified?

Nov 13, 2011

I am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]

Windows 7 Won't Boot - No Operating System Listed / System Partition Not Valid

Oct 19, 2011

Suddenly my Win 7 Home Premium x64 will not boot. The system starts, POSTs then loads the DVD driver, then the screen goes black (not blank but "lit up" black if that makes sense). Then nothing. If I use Hiren's boot cd I can boot up using the "boot from HDD" option fine and Windows operates normally. System restore to a previous configuration made no difference to the original problem. I cannot boot into Safe Mode. F8 just offers me boot order options.

- Running the Windows 7 DVD I find: "No operating system is listed on the Repair Windows option."
- Running Startup Repair finds the following error: "the partition table does not have a valid system partition" which it claims to have repaired, but the error remains and Windows will still not boot.

I followed this advice:
Boot 7 dvd to system recovery options command prompt. Type: Diskpart
list vol (find the vol letter e.g C or partition number e.g. 1 for the system partition )
Sel vol C ( or sel vol 1, obviously use the correct letter or number)
act exi

My system partition was easily identified and listed as healthy so I selected it and made it active. The problem still remains exactly the same. My system is self built just over a year ago, to my knowledge has been running fine, without any hardware issues. I'm prepared to do a clean install if that's what it takes but if there is a way to fix the partition problem without that I'd like to explore it first.

System Image On System Restore Disk Not Reading After Crash?

Oct 2, 2012

Using preinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP 6813w Pavilion. The original hard drive, a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1Tb crashed.1) System Recovery discs was made along with a System Recovery with System Image disc.2) A more current System Image was made on an external hard drive. The Hitachi was replaced with the same model. Checked bios to make sure it was installed correctly.Under System Recovery, Image Restore, Select a System Image Backup there is nothing in the table to choose from as far as a source (disc drive or external drive).A) System Recovery (3 discs) has the HP preinstall file folder on the 3rd disc but is not read by the System Recovery program.B) Under System Restore, Image Restore, Advanced, it asks for a network or driver to be installed. That opens up the directory of C: which is the external hard drive. Under WindowsImageBackup the computer name is identified followed by three entries:[CODE]It seems to me the Recovery and System Restore discs are not functional. Am not a technical person but I have taken this as far as I know how at this point.Printed out all the instructions from HP and Microsoft to follow step by step but the failed discs will not allow me to move forward.

Windows 7 Won't Startup, System Repair And System Restore Failed?

Feb 15, 2013

Living is south FL can be a bitch when the rains come as there often is a ton of accompanying lightening that plays havoc with the electrical system, even though I have surge protectors inside and outside the house. We just had some very heavy rains with lightening and my computer shut down several times, but I could restart it each time...except for the last time when Windows wouldn't startup. At that point, Start Up Repair came into play. Although I routinely backup on an external drive, of course I never did it this month-DUH!Results from SUR were error free (error code=0x0) on all the parameters tested, however there were the following error codes reported:"Unspecified change to the system configuration might have caused the problem." Failed: 0x1fRepair Action: System FilesFailed: x490There were more options to select for a recovery task, but I didn't try them as they didn't seem to be as salient as the two above.

System Repair / System Restore Not Working

May 8, 2011

The other day I was trying to figure out what coral paintshop pro meant by security key, so I googled it. Something popped up and asked me if I wanted to download, and I wanted to say no, but my laptop's mouse is too sensitive at times, so I accidentally clicked yes. My computer automatically shut down right after that. Every time I turn it on now, it goes straight into System Repair and it doesn't work, it says it cannot repair. I've tried System Restore, but since that doesn't get rid of the documents that have been downloaded, it isn't helping either. My computer won't even let me enter any form of Safe Mode, it just goes straight back to System Repair.
