Computer Build Multiple BSODs?

May 24, 2011

I just built a new computer for my inlaws and had several BSODs with different bccodes (1, 1a, a). I formatted and reinstalled the OS, updates, as well as clean installs of all recent drivers downloaded from the manufacturer websites. I have had several BSODs after this and I am worried that it may be related to the memory I have installed.

I ran a full disk scan, as well as SeaTools short and long tests. These were all passed with no errors. Also, I have updated the bios to the most recent, reseated ram, unplugged/replugged all sata and power cables inside. Specs are as follows:

Windows 7 Home Premium x64
CPU: AMD Phenom II 555 3.2Ghz Quad Core
Motherboard: Asus M4A785-M onboard sound, video, wired lan
Memory: G.Skill 4GB DDR2-800 (2x2gb) F2-6400CL5D-4GBNT
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 320gb SATA2

BSODs With Multiple Errors Can't Log Into Windows

Feb 4, 2012

I downloaded and played the Diablo 3 beta for my first time. When I got in game, i noticed that every time I tried to move my character, the game would freeze up like 10 seconds. Because this was happening I tried to restart the game. Turns out that didn't help so i proceeded to trying to restart my computer to see if that would help, but as the screen was at the part where it shows that you are logging off, I got a BSOD. I have gotten BSODs before, and simply had to restart while on them to get the computer to run normally, but this time when I got the BSOD and tried to usual method of restarting, I kept getting BSODs that automatically restarted the computer again in an infinite loop of BSODs. To stop it from automatically restarting after the BSODs, I hit the option to make it not auto restart after the BSOD so I can get a look at what it actually said. I noticed that when i was getting the BSODs, the error messages weren't always the same. Some said things like "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" and "BAD_POOL_HEADER."I also noticed that the number and letters at the bottom weren't the same with every BSOD. Since I am unable to access to my computer's desktop, I couldn't pull a proper log of the errors so I had so i just went ahead and read some and wrote them down by hand.

Multiple BSODs On Company Computer?

Feb 5, 2012

I have a client (company) who I've built and connected multiple computers for--all with the same hardware. All but one out of 8 have been great. This last one is causing me hell. I've analyzed the dumps (but I'm a rookie to crash dump examinations), and I originally thought it was a graphics driver issue. I removed the card from device manager, driver swept the drivers, and installed the newest drivers after the re-install of the card. Still two more BSODs (see the last two dumps for that).

Windows 7 Pro x64
Original OS
Full Retail version
System is 4 months old

Multiple Different BSODs, Mainly While Playing Games?

Mar 30, 2012

I keep getting BSODs while using my computer.I'm not familiar with software and OS interfaces,I have an HP laptop dv7-1451nr.I have windows 7 ultimate x64. My laptop is around 3-3.5 years old now and I recently reformatted with the windows 7 ultimate OS. My friend look at the hardware for me and we found one RAM stick was bad and took it out so now I'm down to 2GB of RAM. The BSODs seem to happen mainly while I'm either trying to play a game, while those are the most consistent I sometimes get random BSODs doing what I can do right now on this computer.

Multiple BSODs Lately After Installing Games Off Steam?

Aug 20, 2012

I've been having quite a few blue screens lately after installing and playing a few games I bought off the Summer Sale not too long ago, and they seem to be jumping all over the place as to what the issue really is. It was mainly when I would play the game "Saint's Row the Third", which would result in a random BSOD between a few minutes to an hour or so of play, if the game itself didn't crash first for some reason, but I just recently installed TF2 for the first time on this new machine of mine and I've gotten several BSOD a day now as a result. Like... Now I get about 3+ crashes a day, and almost always guaranteed a crash whenever I try to run that game, compared to before where it was isolated to SR3 or the occasional one here or there.I got a message about a .sys file related to Avast! Anti-Virus trying to access memory after it was freed in a BSOD message earlier on, and it improved my stability quite a bit after I uninstalled the whole progam, but I've had a few more crashes since I wiped that out earlier today.

Massive Amounts Of BSODs On Boot / Multiple Errors

Feb 23, 2012

I work at the IT department of a school where we have around 600 PC's that need to be maintained. Most things break by the kids and most is fixed my replacing, or simply imaging said computers again. However, after having switched over from Windows XP to Windows 7 we've been having masses of BSODs when loading Windows. Not just the normal PC's, not just linked to one type (although pretty much everything is from HP). But it keeps happening. The most common errors that we've been able to discover are:0x00000018, 0x0000000A, 0x0000007E, 0x000000BE.After having researched these things, they all turned out to have something to do with drivers, not only that, but when trying to boot into safe mode the PC's would all freeze at "classpnp.sys" and sometimes reboot shortly after. Our current solution is simply putting a new Windows 7 image over the computer and it'll work another day or two. It's great that it works again then, but we spend too much time on it.

It can't possibly be the hardware, there are too many different kinds of computers for it to be that. I'm quite sure the problem is somewhere originating from the drivers we install, but then he question comes as to what ruins the drivers? Not to mention that there are also different drivers for the different kinds of PC's.

Multiple BSODs After Unplugging And Plugging In Flash Drive?

Dec 16, 2012

Dual Core Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Toshiba laptop. My daughter was working on a Power Point project for school. She went to plug in her flash drive and it didnt seem to load the drive up. She unplugged it and then plugged it back in. We got a BSOD. We restarted it and it BSOD again. I tried some general troubleshooting, including restoring it to a previous version, and now cannot get into Windows at all. Not even in safe mode. Now I am getting multiple BSODs.

Currently I am seeing these BSODs:

I am getting one when just trying to start and run windows I am getting a BSOD about memory management.

If I try to go into safe mode it loads the files and then I get a BSOD regarding the fbwf.sys. Using the Windows 7 disc I have been able to get to the System Recovery Options. It finds my install and then blue screens with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL even before it gets to finding my install.

Other BSODs I know I have seen are regarding the Ntfs.Sys and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

File Destination Name 2 Long & Multiple Songs In Media Player?

Dec 20, 2010

I decided to come here because everyone here is far more helpful then over on the microsoft site. My first question is I am modding my sims 2 game. I use to be able to copy the file into my downloads folder no problem. I did an update a few days ago and now all of a sudden as I am copying them I get file destination name is to long for the folder. I have renamed them and it helps but it sucks doing it when I never had the problem before.Next question I asked on the microsoft forums over a week ago and no answer. My media player has doubles of each album. It really sucks when I am listening to my media player and have to listen to the album twice. I tried taking them out resetting it and at first it only put the first one and then sure enough it redoubled them. I don't know if it is because I have itunes. How can I fix this please? Is it because of itunes? Is it something I just have to live with and choose to use itunes or media player and not have both?

Type Letters To Select A File Or Folder Instead Of Typing A Search Term?

Oct 5, 2012

In XP (and Vista), you type alphebets to select a file or folder. For example, you are trying to access a file named "My file.txt", you type "m", "y" and it goes directly to folder or files start withm and y so it's close to My file.txt. This is convenient way to find a file you need. But, it's not the same in Windows 7 anymore. Typing anything will activate the search. It narrows down the files in folder window and it shows many unrelated documents and folders. Is there a way to disable that so I only search by keywords when I press Control-F while typing only takes me to the folder or file?

Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]

Multiple Users On Multiple Windows 7-64bit Systems?

Feb 13, 2013

We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..

Working With Multiple Monitors Does Not Allow Multiple Desktops

Sep 7, 2012

I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.

It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.

Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.

Too Many BSODs

Nov 21, 2009

I thought I had all my problems worked out. This is not the case. My computer was working fine. I installed most of my programs, surfin the web, doing what I do on my computers. So I shut it down for the night.

I turn it on the next day. BSOD. The first BSOD doesn't even have an error listed.

This BSOD happens a couple times.

Then I get a different BSOD saying APC_INDEX_MISMATCH. This one only shows up one time.

Then I get another saying SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. But I've already rolled back my ATI drivers to their original state. I try to run chkdsk /f but everytime the computer restarts it just goes back to the log in window, without running chkdsk.

I'm completely lost here. Where should I start?
