My mouse has stopped working after i did some window's updates!, it's only a 4 mouse from asda in the UK, but was working fine before i did them. I went into my task manager and 2 of the USB's have warning's on them? Also this is the latest update that's killed my mouse.
Yesterday, I got a balloon notification saying that there were some Windows Updates available. I like to keep my PC up-to-date, and since I wasn't in the middle of anything urgent I had my Windows 7 32-bit PC download and install them. WU asked to reboot my computer, so I got to a stopping point and clicked reboot. When I rebooted my PC, my 2nd monitor stopped working and wouldn't detect. So I downloaded installed the latest drivers and restarted, nothing. Tried rolling back to a restore point before the updates, nothing. Uninstalled the video card and rebooted, nothing.
I have an ATI Raedon 3600 Series video card, installed into a Dell Optiplex 360, running 2 Dell 19" LCD monitors. Nothing super fancy or extravagant going on hereI am a bit at a loss. I was going to maybe take out the video card and try reinstalling it physically and "softwarically". But I do not think that will aIt was working fine for months, and so I am guessing it has something to do with the Windows Updates that were installed.
Why would my mouse just stop working. Checked the batteries and they're good. Loaded W7 on 3 days ago and today the mouse won't work. Running W7 64 bit. It's a Kensington mouse as well. Was using it with vista 64 bit with no problems for a year.
2 days ago my mouse randomly ceased to work (Razer Imperator). Before preparing an RMA I thought to test it on another system (netbook) to verify it was broke. Turns out it wasn't.So past 2 days I have been googling my ass off using my drawing tablet as a mouse. I have other USB mice but they all don't work either, other than the tablet. Unfortunately system restore is not an option as for some bizarre reason its not turned on. Using the repair CD, the one from the backup part of the control panel doesn't work as it detects no problems. One thing I did learn from that boot repair CD is that my mouse functions fine at this point. From this im assuming a software fault. First time I saw that I had hope it was fixed. Not to be the case.So I can give yall a brief overview of the things I have done so far:
Checked that the mouse is working on other systems Turned off Legacy support for USB on my BIOS Uninstalled and re installed the product drivers countless times (These were removed properly each time) Tried all the USB ports on my computer and verified that all my ports work with other devices eg flash drives and the like Uninstalled the drivers from the devices in the device manager to see if windows could re install them automatically Transferred several .INF and .PNF from another functional system related to the problem ( also have the originals backed up) Removed all other USB devices to see if its a power fault Updated my bios and chipset drivers alongside most other system drivers So thats where I am at so far. I also have a few observations which may also be relevant Under the devices and printers and into the properties i get the following [URL] From that I think its related to a missing PnP HID-compliant Mouse driver or atleast there is a conflict but thats my speculation
I have had windows 7 x64 for a while and suddenly, my USB mouse (OCZ Behemoth) stopped working. oddly, only the pointer stopped working, the clicker and scroll wheel work fine. It's a corded mouse, so no "new battery" comments.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED
Different port Device manager->Reinstall (it appeared as "Unknown USB device". it now appears as "USB Human Interface Device" but still does not work.) Rolled back using System Restore to yesterday when it worked, nothing. Rebooting Going into my WinXP x64 install, it works there putting the Behemoth in my laptop, it works. Using another USB mouse on my computer (doesn't work with 3 mice that work fine on other computers) Trying other USB devices in my ports (all ports work fine with a thumb drive, as well as USB devices that require power) POSSIBLE CAUSES I recently set up a "guest" account on my computer. this is the only major change i can think of (this was removed when i used System Restore) IT IS NOT
Motherboard Drivers (USB works fine with other devices) OCZ drivers (no mouse works correctly) Mouse Battery (corded mouse) Bad install (it worked fine for the approximate month i had Windows 7 on my computer) Proprietary driver clash (self-built rig, not HP/Compaq/whatever) NOTES I have not tried a PS/2 mouse or USB->PS/2 adapter because i do not own one. The "new hardware wizard" does not pop up upon a mouse insertion I am admin account.
Basically i installed some updates for nvidia to help my devices catch up with my win 7 pro install. Now however i have the issue that my ps/2 keyboard and touch pad mouse has stopped working and i'm having to use USB to actually use my laptop. Has anyone else found a solution to this at all. I have checked device manager and it say code 10 for the mouse not working and code 19 for the keyboard not working.
For background info i have a Dell Studio XPS running 64 bit Win 7 pro.
Been working fine all year. Most recently I had it in my netbook. I got a pop up that said the UDB device was not recognized. I tried to reinstall the microsoftintellipoint mouse software again but that didn't fix it.I then tried it in my other laptop which it has working in the past, and when i plugged in the receiver it the computer said it was an unrecognizable device.
I have a dell latitude with windows 7. After a year of usage the mouse clicks suddenly stopped working. Left clicks stopped working all together, right click sometimes work, but most of time it does other things. I suspect it's some malware. I run avg, spybot and malwarebytes, which found nothing. Checked the mouse settings in control panel, and didn't fine anything strange.
While housecleaning I unplugged everything from my computer, dusted, and plugged everything back in, though I probably didn't put all the USB devices in the same order as before. Now my HDMI interface doesn't work, and the mouse and keyboard only work in safe mode. When I boot into normal mode, there's no cursor and no response to keyboard. What could have gone wrong?
I my middle click function has stopped working on my mouse, at first I assumed it was a Chrome update and that I could no longer use it to "Open link in new tab" however it seems that it now does absolutely nothing and I am unable to reassign it. I used CAD software (Solidworks) that requires the middle mouse button for me to be able to pivot my view about the pointer on the screen (also a few PC games I play would be much smoother if I could do this).I have all the latest drivers and firmware installed.I did find this thread that I thought might help me; Middle Mouse Button , however the screen shot at the bottom shows the Mouse Options on the Control Panel having a lot more option than it does for me, the only options I have are switching the left and right mouse buttons, double-click speed adjustment and ClickLock. The buttons assignment window that I get using the Razer software gives no more options other than to assign the forwards and backwards buttons ("Windows Button 4" and "Windows Button 5").
I was playing League of Legends when this happened and when the game loaded into the world the mouse just stopped responding and never kicked back on. I've restarted the computer, pulled the battery for a few minutes, turned legacy usb on/off, right click and uninstalled all universal USB controllers (then restarted to get windows to reinstall them), tried different mice on the problem computer, tried the mouse on a different computer (it worked), pretty much every solution i've found on the internet so far from people with similar issues of usb mice/keyboards suddenly stopping and never coming back using windows 7.I'm actually going to go to toshiba's website and check if they have any drivers that I could download/update.
Recently my computer has been force closing applications like Photoshop and Windows Explorer. It usually happens when I right click in Explorer or try to open anything in Photoshop. When it happens, a dialogue box comes up that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" or "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working" Under the details it displays this information:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:Explorer.EXE Application Version:6.1.7600.16768 Application Timestamp:4d688122
My mouse cursor stopped moving and I removed the stick because it seemed to be interfering with the USB.The next day, I was playing a game and the keys were malfunctioning and typing more than one letter each or the wrong letter altogether. I tried another keyboard and got similar, yet different errors. One keyboard types hn instead of n. The other won't type certain letters at all, like d or g. I couldn't even log into windows without using the cursor keypad to log in. The language settings are OK. I re-installed the drivers for keyboard and mouse. No dice. Sometimes the mistakes would change. H works now, but was zh a minute ago. I finally did a system repair and afterwards, I could log into windows again. I then typed every letter of the alphabet into Google and there were no problems, but 10 seconds later, the problem is back. Does this sound like a keyboard controller problem?I could type my password when running system repair, so the keyboard works in the boot area. Just not anywhere from windows log on or further.
Here's an example of the alphabet when typing without me correcting it.

Using Windows 7 on my 3 year old home built system. My 2 year old Logitech gaming mouse suddenly stopped functioning. Upon bootup, the mouse works for about 20 seconds, then the device driver disables it and lists it in the USB list as "unknown device". It works on my other computer just fine, so I don't think the issue is with the mouse itself. Why is the device manager doing this, and how do I enable it?
i have a problem with my mouse cursor.... when it is performing something it become busy... right.. and sometimes the mouse cursor will rotate... or the working in background.... it doesnt rotate anymore.. i mean the windows aero scheme.. i am using a windows 7 os... i dnt know what is the problem,.. i alreay have the tuneup utilities 2010.. still no progree.. plls help me resolve my problem
i update to SP1 yesterday, and today when i hit the power button i notice the computer takes longer to hibernate, i pressed a key and the screen came back with my session welcome screen. so the computer never went to hibernation, i disable re-enable powercfg -h off/on, change power settings, all drivers are up to date and haven't been touched for months, (this is the first time this happen to me), the SP1 (yesterday) and 7 updates more after i instaleld the SP1, that was everything new in this computer
I deleted my public folders a few days ago and now I can't do any updates!Windows Live stopped working as did Evernote.I don't want the Public folders and was hoping there is a way to solve this.
Wifi on my laptop suddenly stopped working. It has full bars but I cannot access any websites in any browser (Chrome/Firefox). I also cannot access itunes store. I keep seeing a yellow exclamation mark appear on my wifi signal then it vanishes by itself.
The USB's stopped working on my PC. I recently purchased it about a month ago and I think something was installed or was added to the computer because it stopped working all of a sudden.

For nearly half of the .exe files I attempt to open, I get this stupid "---.exe has stopped working" (where --- represents the name of the file). The files I'm trying to open are not video game files, but rather program files.I am currently working on a 64-bit system. I have only had this machine for 2.5 weeks.
I left my Dell laptop running a Sophos anti-rootkit scan overnight. This morning I found six extra windows open, which looked like this: [code] which looks like six randomly generated letters for the application name. I'm not sure if this is anything to do with the rootkit scan I was running, but I'm a bit concerned by it. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I'm running Windows 7 Prof 64.
So i start the game up fine, single player works fine for abit, then when i want to play multiplayer as soon as the game starts and i move it will send me back to desktop with the windows message 'GTA IV has stopped working'It has been fine past couple of months.
My specs if it helps define problems etc:
AMD FX-4100 3.6Ghz Windows 7 64bit 4GB RAM 1600 1GB HD 7770 OC
cd dvd rom just stopped working. I have ran all kinds of scans. no viruses. windows 7 laptop.. says device working properly but windows did not start related device driver.
So first I get this message when I mouse over the speaker icon(notice the red "x" on the icon). When I click the icon, Windows does a diagnostic and then this shows up.This is whats listed in my playback devices and this is with "Show disabled devices" enabled. Everything is enabled,Here is a picture of what my device manager looks like.
I've tried installing drivers for my sound card and my chipset, I tried restarting my computer, updated from my device manager, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, etc. I've been searching online for a bit and nothing I found worked so I figured I'd give this a shot. I tried uninstalling the service pack update but that didn't work.

I have actually had this problem every time I've re-installed the OS and can't seem to figure out how to fix it. When I install Windows 7 x64 and plug in my mouse or printer right away they will discover the drivers and work automagically. After I go through the Windows updates they just don't seem to work anymore. The only thing I've been able to do to get them to work is run this little MS program(http://windows.micro...ith-USB-devices) I found that apparently forces what I have plugged into the USB port and isn't responding to install drivers and work. I just don't know what to do so I don't have to run this program any time I try to plug something into the USB ports. What's kind of strange is I have an external drive that I plug in and it works before and after the updates without running that program. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
Using a HP Pavilion g7 1075dx Notebook PC just fyi.dit: Actually I just tested unplugging the mouse and printer after they were working, restarting the system, and trying to plug them back in again. They don't work again. So as it stands I would have to run that little MS Fix It program every time I plug them in to get them to work.
Basically, i used to be able to use my fast forward, pause/play, stop, and volume control buttons to control my itunes and the volume.now, the volume control does not show the bar on the screen that shows what level the volume is at when it's changing volume, and my pause/play, fast forward, rewind, and stop buttons only work when itunes is the main window.it used to control itunes even when itunes was in the background.
Installed a new hard drive and did a clean install of windows 7 on it. Installed the the drivers from the recovery cd and I get the message " windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running".
