Installed Windows 7 Updates - 2nd Monitor Stopped Working?
May 9, 2012Yesterday, I got a balloon notification saying that there were some Windows Updates available. I like to keep my PC up-to-date, and since I wasn't in the middle of anything urgent I had my Windows 7 32-bit PC download and install them. WU asked to reboot my computer, so I got to a stopping point and clicked reboot.When I rebooted my PC, my 2nd monitor stopped working and wouldn't detect.So I downloaded installed the latest drivers and restarted, nothing. Tried rolling back to a restore point before the updates, nothing. Uninstalled the video card and rebooted, nothing.
I have an ATI Raedon 3600 Series video card, installed into a Dell Optiplex 360, running 2 Dell 19" LCD monitors. Nothing super fancy or extravagant going on hereI am a bit at a loss. I was going to maybe take out the video card and try reinstalling it physically and "softwarically". But I do not think that will aIt was working fine for months, and so I am guessing it has something to do with the Windows Updates that were installed.

Sep 16, 2012Ive just formatted my hd and reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 32bit onto it. This went on fine with no problems. however, when i went on the net i initially found that i couldnt download the adobe flash player as it comes up with "actionlist not found". Also when viewing websites it keeps saying "certificate error" meaning im having to click "show blocked content" on every site i visit! The smart screen filter says its temporarily unavailiable but has been for several days now and not chamnged. And finally, i went into the updates section, tried to search for new updates as i thought this may be the problem, and it come up with "Errors found Code 80072F8F"

AFAICT the only updates installed in the last two plus weeks have been MSE definition updates. The last real updates were installed on 11 April. Even though I do not restart my computer often I am sure this only started recently. It has done it for four restarts in the last 24 hours.

Aug 17, 2011My computer was built by CyperPowerPC a year ago. Have had zero problems with it until some updates were automatically put in a month or so ago. After the install, my pc still was showing that I was connnected to the internet, except my browser (firefox) would not load any pages.
I restored the system back to a previous point to fix this. But have since restarted my machine and the problem came back (didn't realize the updates got installed automatically on reboot). My question is what do I do as a permanant fix in lieu of system restore? I think the updates causing the problem are related to security reasons. I ran anti malware and it found and deleted 2 things but still no help.
I think there were 20 or so updates that got installed, how do I know which is the problem? (if it is the updates at all). I can get more info tonight (ie specific update names) if needed.

Oct 25, 2010I applied a Windows Update the other day without realizing that I was doing a major update from Windows Live Mail to WLM 2011. The installation progress window stopped at about 50% complete and just stayed there. After doing some Googling about the update (KB2434419) I read that behind the progress window is another window which asks the user whether all Windows Live apps are to be installed and updated or just the ones that have already been installed. I had been using only Windows Live Mail, so I chose to update only that application to WLM 2011. The installation appeared to run successfully, and I have been using WLM 2011 for two days. It works fine, although I've had to get familiar with numerous changes to its appearance and user interface.
The Windows Update icon is still at the right end of my taskbar, however, and when I click on it, the progress window is still showing "Installing update 1 of 1" about 50% complete as if it does not realize that the installation of WLM 2011 finished two days ago! The only option in that window is a "Stop installation" button. I am afraid to click that button in case it initiates a rollback of the WLM 2011 installation. Why does Windows Update think that the installation isn't complete? How do I terminate the session of Windows Update and not disturb the WLM 2011 installation that completed two days ago? Do I dare kill the Windows Update process that is running?

Plug And Play Not Working After Windows 7 Updates?
Jun 5, 2011I have actually had this problem every time I've re-installed the OS and can't seem to figure out how to fix it. When I install Windows 7 x64 and plug in my mouse or printer right away they will discover the drivers and work automagically.After I go through the Windows updates they just don't seem to work anymore. The only thing I've been able to do to get them to work is run this little MS program(http://windows.micro...ith-USB-devices) I found that apparently forces what I have plugged into the USB port and isn't responding to install drivers and work. I just don't know what to do so I don't have to run this program any time I try to plug something into the USB ports.What's kind of strange is I have an external drive that I plug in and it works before and after the updates without running that program. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Nov 8, 2011Basically, i used to be able to use my fast forward, pause/play, stop, and volume control buttons to control my itunes and the volume.now, the volume control does not show the bar on the screen that shows what level the volume is at when it's changing volume, and my pause/play, fast forward, rewind, and stop buttons only work when itunes is the main window.it used to control itunes even when itunes was in the background.
