Just started with a new computer and the automatic update downloaded some that I do not want to install. How do I get rid of them? I saw something on another forum about stopping the update, deleting softwaredistribution folder in the windows directory, and then restarting update, but that was for Vista., Will this work with Windows 7?

I want to be able from a command line install all downloaded windows updates and then shutdown the computer. I know there are GUI settings for this, but how would I do it via command line? As an fyi I've tried things from the pkgmgr.exe and wusa.exe utilities in Windows 7, but I cannot seem to get it to start installing the downloaded updates.

Had a HD crash on a working system. Did an OS repair from boot disk. Works fine (?) now, but now I get msgs to do updates @ 200+ which will take hours to download. Those updates are already downloaded in a previous Windows dir - (Windows.old. How can I install/run the previously downloaded updates without having to do a massive download again? Tried "run", double click and other commands.

I have downloaded IE9 and installed it. However, it will not display. I have tried the googled responses to the problem, but to no avail. I have redownloaded IE 9 at least 3 times. My profile shows 32bit, but I have a 64 bit.

Downloaded updates and installs before computer is shut off. The next time I use the computer and shuts down, it prompts me to install the updates again whether or not I am on the net. This happens over and over ever time I use the computer. I checked the updtes available and the file numbers are the same. I need to tweak the Windows Update somehow? or I need to delete them manually

Ive just formatted my hd and reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 32bit onto it. This went on fine with no problems. however, when i went on the net i initially found that i couldnt download the adobe flash player as it comes up with "actionlist not found". Also when viewing websites it keeps saying "certificate error" meaning im having to click "show blocked content" on every site i visit! The smart screen filter says its temporarily unavailiable but has been for several days now and not chamnged. And finally, i went into the updates section, tried to search for new updates as i thought this may be the problem, and it come up with "Errors found Code 80072F8F"

When I restart my computer I get the notification that "Windows Has Installed New Updates. Your Computer was Restarted to Finish Installing Updates". AFAICT the only updates installed in the last two plus weeks have been MSE definition updates. The last real updates were installed on 11 April. Even though I do not restart my computer often I am sure this only started recently. It has done it for four restarts in the last 24 hours.

My computer was built by CyperPowerPC a year ago. Have had zero problems with it until some updates were automatically put in a month or so ago. After the install, my pc still was showing that I was connnected to the internet, except my browser (firefox) would not load any pages.
I restored the system back to a previous point to fix this. But have since restarted my machine and the problem came back (didn't realize the updates got installed automatically on reboot). My question is what do I do as a permanant fix in lieu of system restore? I think the updates causing the problem are related to security reasons. I ran anti malware and it found and deleted 2 things but still no help.
I think there were 20 or so updates that got installed, how do I know which is the problem? (if it is the updates at all). I can get more info tonight (ie specific update names) if needed.

Why Windows won't apply my updates. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I attempt to install my updates but after refreshing the Windows Update program it says they installed successfully but is still offering the the same updates. I've ran Microsoft FixYa from their website to no avail. The updates giving me problems are:
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2676562)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2709715)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2679255)

Yesterday, I got a balloon notification saying that there were some Windows Updates available. I like to keep my PC up-to-date, and since I wasn't in the middle of anything urgent I had my Windows 7 32-bit PC download and install them. WU asked to reboot my computer, so I got to a stopping point and clicked reboot. When I rebooted my PC, my 2nd monitor stopped working and wouldn't detect. So I downloaded installed the latest drivers and restarted, nothing. Tried rolling back to a restore point before the updates, nothing. Uninstalled the video card and rebooted, nothing.
I have an ATI Raedon 3600 Series video card, installed into a Dell Optiplex 360, running 2 Dell 19" LCD monitors. Nothing super fancy or extravagant going on hereI am a bit at a loss. I was going to maybe take out the video card and try reinstalling it physically and "softwarically". But I do not think that will aIt was working fine for months, and so I am guessing it has something to do with the Windows Updates that were installed.

Just found out Win 7 SP1 was not auto-installed in a netbook and a home PC today, even though both machines were set up to auto-update. The SP1 was sitting in the Windows update notification. Is this normal? Also after manually installing SP1 (i.e. click OK in Windows update), some old updates started to pop up and asked to be installed. I suppose they were for the SP1. Is this normal?

Using win 7 home edition 64 bit. Ran and installed updates yesterday. Now I have minutes long waits for any program or action. When I looked to reverse the update, "no updates are installed on this computer", is displayed in the installed updates window. Also, none of my restore points are seen. This is a first. I have tried reboots, and McAfee scan. What's next?

I just installed Win7 and installed the updates (recommended ones and critical ones) then I proceeded to go to sleep.Today I noticed on my biggest partition (I have one for the OS plus the 100+mb one it creates itself and one more for movies, games, etc named K) I have a folder named e8cdef2aaf8f6997dd.I remember this type of folder is left behind when .NET Framework is installed because the installer does not clean the temp folders after installation. However, there was something strange with it - within it there are some installers as well as other updates (please check the image with the contents of it). What I'm asking is, can I delete it? is it really just a temp folder or do I need to install them manually? cause I tried and it said the net framework 4 client was installed previously and that I cannot continue the installation until I clear the other installation and start from the beginning..

My computer recently told me to install some updates, I usually don't bother and just leave it but this time I installed them. However, after the updates had installed, I went back to my laptop to see that the screen resolution is 'stretched'. I have done the following
- Set it to the highest resolution
- Made icons small instead of medium
The highest resolution it will allow is 1204 x 768 but this is not what it used to be. I have no idea what the old setting was but I do know this look isn't right. I also started my computer in safe mode, and it had a higher resolution when I edited the settings that was the right one but when I restarted my laptop, it went back to the smaller size. Web pages don't look right and there is always a horizontal scroll bar (no my page isn't zoomed in, the toolbars, tabs everything is different).

For the past day windows wants to install the same 4 updates over and over, I have windows update set to download and let me choose when to install.
I can't understand why I even need them, as I uninstalled net framework. Notice how the update at 8:17 AM., KB2656368, is the same as one of the 4 updates installed at 7:47 PM. Windows wants to install the same four kb files again. How do I stop this?
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656368)
Installation date: 6/15/2012 7:47 PM
