Jun 20, 2011how to force Win 7 to recognize a drive in restore? In XP you deleted the drivetable.txt or sr.inf but I cannot these in 7.

Feb 23, 2012I have windows t pro and all of a sudden System restore has disappeared. If I type system restore in the search box, the closest thing I get is "restore your computer to am earlier time".checked c:UsersYourNameApplicationDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStartMenuProgramsAccessoriesSystem Tools and it's not their either. I have a feeling it was a Paragon Drive Clone program that screwed everything up. It even turned on system protection for one of my other drives. Microsoft Shadow Copy Provider was also off.

Sep 26, 2012I would like to do a system restore, but when I try to do so (system protection/system restore), it tells me that "no restore points have been created on your hard drive".
2 weeks ago I successfully did a system restore, and I have not changed any settings since then. My recovery partition is still in place, the disk manager says the recovery drive has 8 GB out of 15 GB free. Could the restore point be in my recovery partition, but for some reason Windows isn't seeing it? How would I view the recovery partition to check?

May 22, 2011I tried to use the recovery 7 disk on my laptop...Half way through the process my laptop froze and shut off. When I turned it back on its said winload.exe was missing or corrupt. With the status of 0xc000000f. It wont let me do anything with the computer. Only go into memory tool diagnostics and the setup utility. It says to install the windows 7 install disks. I dont have that I only have the recovery disks.

Sep 27, 2012I was trying to completely restore my system using factory discs. I upgraded my ProBook 4525s from 32 to 64 bit. because of all the problems I've been having, I tried putting on the 32 bit version again... well somehow I'm miss a whole lot of stuff. I'm not super computer savy, but figured that i've bdone it in the past, I can do it again. Well the first thing I noticed is that my wireless isn't working. So I go to HP website and try and download some different drivers. Nothing is working and when I try to open and install anything downloaded it doesn't work properly. Went to update my bios and it needs F.0A which I can't download because I don't have a burning software that is compatible. Why I need to burn something to disc when I want to download it directly I don't understand..

Feb 18, 2012My C: dreive is a 128GB SSD which devided into 70 and 50 GB.Windows and all programs are installed on 70GB, the 50GB drive is free.All programs are about 11GB, Win7 ultimate 64 is about 17GB so all together it should not exceed 30GB. Suddenly I found on one day that my user folder became 25GB without any reason. When looking into it and calculated all subfolders it even did not come to 1GB.So the C drive is almost full and I have no idea for the reason.

Oct 13, 2012My c: is 128 GB and darn near full. I have Win7 and most used programs on it. My b: (179 GB of 500) has my libraries and less used programs. I have a single windows image backup of both B & C on an external drive.
For example if I purchase a 500 GB hard drive can I restore that image to the new drive? Will it partition the C from the B on the new drive or just show it as seperate folders?
Does the new drive have to be greater than the sum of the allocated/unallocated space on both drives even though the image is less than 500GB?

Nov 14, 2011I'm working on a computer with a RAID setup. It is 2 hard drives 500gb each showing up as 1tb in windows. Both drives show up in the bios but all of a sudden when trying ot start the computer I get a "Operating system is missing" error.
I'm trying to run a chkdsk form a win 7 64 bit disk and telling it to run on H; (system drive) but it says 'cannot open volume for direct access'.
The other drive, C: is just a recovery drive built into dell computer systems. I tried using a boot cd and running mbrfix to no avail.
White Screen Reboot Loop / Hard Drive Not Found In System Restore
Oct 9, 2012When I start my laptop, it shows the HP logo, begins to boot and is almost instantly interrupted by a white screen that scrolls down from the top. It reboots right after the white screen.I am able at the HP logo screen able to navigate to System Restore and that is where I run into my next problem.When the System Restore window opens for confirmation it shows that "Local Disk (C) (System)" status: "Ready to restore" and the check-box next to it is checked.The next line has a empty check-box for "Local Disk (C)" with the status: "The drive cannot be found." I can also successfully boot into Safe Mode with Networking. I can access all my files. Which leads me to believe that it is a hardware problem. Possibly the motherboard or graphics card.

Feb 9, 2012OK, so a couple of days ago, my HP desktop crashed and then went through the whole System Recovery loop(I couldn't login to Safe mode, wouldn't let me past the System Recovery Screen). Well I backed up the entire C drive using Backup your files in the menu. Then it shows you all the file types it will back up; i.e photos, videos, e-mails and bookmarks. So I did that to an external hard drive and it comes out to 143GB.Now comes my problem. I've been able to copy everything from the external hard drive using RecoveryMgr.exe which opens the WIM files and saves them to my C: hard drive under System Recovery Files. However it does not seem to work when it comes to putting in my old Thunderbird e-mails, contacts and such or in Firefox to restore my bookmarks, saved passwords.

I get the same message, but with a different file name, with every restore point I try, and I have now tried all seven available restore points, going back to 30 Dec 2011. The computer was working perfectly until 3 days ago when it blue screened, and has not started properly since. It is a Corei5 with 4 GB RAM and is only 12 months old. Lately whenever i try to start my computer it pass the Dell Bios and then directly goes to the screen which states
Repair your system or Start windows normally When i chose repair system , it start downloading windows files and then launch the windows , but hung up at the sky blue login window with only movable cusor . When i choose to start windows normally it gives me BSOD momentarly ( hard to see the message) and then restarts again . i tried with the advanced boot up options like
repair my computer , all safe modes , restore to last good configuration but it does the same and hangs at windows loging sky blue window .I Tried to run the Dell PSA+ Diagnostic and it returns with 2000-0146 error . The original hard drive, a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1Tb crashed.1) System Recovery discs was made along with a System Recovery with System Image disc.2) A more current System Image was made on an external hard drive.The Hitachi was replaced with the same model. Checked bios to make sure it was installed correctly.Under System Recovery, Image Restore, Select a System Image Backup there is nothing in the table to choose from as far as a source (disc drive or external drive).A) System Recovery (3 discs) has the HP preinstall file folder on the 3rd disc but is not read by the System Recovery program.B) Under System Restore, Image Restore, Advanced, it asks for a network or driver to be installed. That opens up the directory of C: which is the external hard drive. Under WindowsImageBackup the computer name is identified followed by three entries:[CODE]It seems to me the Recovery and System Restore discs are not functional. Am not a technical person but I have taken this as far as I know how at this point.Printed out all the instructions from HP and Microsoft to follow step by step but the failed discs will not allow me to move forward.
