If I use Win DVD Maker (WDVDM) to cut a DVD from an .AVI that is wider than 16:9 it plays with the image squashed to fit the 16:9 aspect.Should I use Win Live Move Maker (WLMM) or a third party program to crop the sides or pad the top & bottom of .AVI or other formats, and then WDVDM to cut a disc? Or is there are 'free' third party program that allows me to choose cropping and padding options for extra width .AVI and other formats and encode & burn to DVD in 16:9 or 4:3 ?

Well, AuzenTech released their Windows 7 drivers and are currently in RC-1 stage. The problem is that they don't even work. After I installed them (tried with and without UAC enabled) in a fresh install, no program or application will open at all. It's like a complete system hang up on applications (including their own control panel), therefore leaving me with the only option to completely uninstall it to be able to keep using my computer.
Unfortunately now I am left without my sound hardware acceleration and will probably need to switch to onboard audio.
Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to solve it?
I used to use a MBP as my main computer, coupled with a 30" Apple Cinema Display (Model A1083 - purchased three years ago). I recently purchased a PC (i7-950 3.06 GHz; AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB; Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) to use as my home computer, and the MBP for mobile purposes. However, I cannot get the new PC to recognize the native resolution of the Apple Cinema Display (2560x1600). The monitor shows a maximum display resolution of 1200x800. I am using the only connection the monitor has to hook into the PC -- DVI-D Dual Link.In the screen options, under Control Panel, it shows the monitor as "CINEMA" but the drivers reflect "Generic PnP monitor".
From what I can discern, people used to use WinACD (WinACD | Download WinACD software for free at SourceForge.net) as a fix for this common issue, but the file has been discontinued and the last version was made for WindowsXP.
It doesn't start anymore! i have unistalled and installed all codecs... nothing! only had mpc in my pc and still doesn't start! i have cleared all the registy, (Opened regedit, and remove the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareGabest entry), compatibility mode, everything! i also tried to install Splayer and this one doesn't start either! i think it may be something wrong with my system but i cant tell what! i do not want to reinstall my windows or make a system restore
I just bought my wife a new laptop. She doesn't do any heavy computing. It will be mostly used for Email, Web Surfing and watching videos. The initial set up went fine and all worked as advertised. The problem started when I went to install the driver for her external speakers. She has a Logitech Z-Cinema 3 speaker system with remote. I went to the Logitech website and located the Windows 7 64 bit driver and downloaded it. Installation seemed to complete succesfully, but now, any time I try to open up Windows Media Center, the screen just goes black and I have to kill the program with Task Manager. I uninstalled the driver and WMC workes fine. The speakers are on the Windows Hardware Compatability list.

My screen looks almost bloated, like the scroll bar and task bar are still too large and nothing fits perfectly on the screen, it hangs out over to the left just slightly. It's useable, just obnoxious and it looks awful. The resolution is as high as it will go and my icons are on small.
I've noticed that sometimes the screen does not appear wide enough. Today I needed to see and copy the screen, but could not. I tried to drag the screen wider but could not
My dad accidently pressed a button on his monitor and now the image on his monitor looks slightly too wide.Ive pressed the auto adjust button on the monitor to try and fix it, and it says for optimal display I should change the resolution to 1360x768.Ive tried to do this but it just tells me that its "out of range 68.5khz/85hx"
i have a Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X 1Gb GDDR5 PCIe x16 card running under Windows 7 64b LAST RC7. It gets around on a ASUS M4A79T Deluxe body & a Phenom II X3 955 3.2GHz engine.
my display will not show full screen at any resolution. it leaves 2 black bars ~ 22-3" on the L & R edges only. fills to top and bottom OK.
Currently I am running a Windows 7 machine, with a 22 Widescreen LG monitor as my main and a 19 Normal Aspect NEC as my second monitor to the right. I'm also running an nVidia GTX 570. With 285.79 drivers, all is well. However, when I try to upgrade, and I've tried to upgrade to all drivers since, anytime I start up a DX10 or DX11 game (mostly BF3) my main screen offsets approximately 3 inches to the left pushing the game off to the left about 3 inches and leaving a black bar about 3 inches on the right side. This can be fixed by screwing around with the resolution settings and eventually all is fine, but I shouldn't have to screw around with anything.
Other games such as Dragon Age 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 actually require me to change my resolution from 1680 x 1050 to 1440 x 900 (I run my screen in 1680 x 1050)
I am looking for a utility that will analyze HDDs of client computers on a Windows Network. I've looked around and seen utilities that will defrag any number of computers on a network, but really I don't want that as they require an agent to be installed, and I don't want to install anything else on the client computers, they are full to bursting. Anyway...So just a utility or program that would analyze the disk of each client computer, and generate some sort of report or list of client computers in need of a defrag that I would preform during off hours, or schedule to run late at night.
I've been looking for some time now for a system-wide graphic equalizer. Basically I play a lot of internet radio on my laptop, so the WMP EQ won't do. Also, it doesn't work on games and streaming vids etc.
I've been hearing a lot about the Realtek HD Audio Driver, but can I install that with an Intel soundcard (at least I think it's Intel)? I've downloaded and installed it, rebooted, and nothing happened. There's no icon in the bottomright, and if I try to find the driver the device manager I can't find it either.
I have a Dell Latitude D800 laptop which is some outdated but served me well with vista. The native screen resolution is 1920x1200, and if I understand correctly the nvidia chipset is GeForce FX Go5200.
I don't need to install the native driver if I could only change the resolution to custom since nothing else appears to be not working.
The problem with the natural drivers is this: when I install the nvidia one it says I do not have a compatible chipset, so it leaves me with the D800 video driver. It has only been released for XP and installing it even with changed compatibility mode freezes my screen on startup.
In Vista no drivers were needed I just changed my resolution to 1920x1200 and all was well, what are my options in Windows 7?
And I have no idea how. I noticed that iTunes deleted more then half of my photos off my ipod, but didnt think anything of it, and then i started yahoo messenger and it said it was corrupted and to run a chkdsk. So I did, and this is what it came up with (below). What caused this? All my photos are back, it said it was recovering orphaned files and stuff. But there was too many to count. [code]
Does anybody know of a add-on for mozzilla firefox so I can set the default settings to make a web page become wider? When I zoom into a web page and then restart mozzilla the web page is back to the default settings.
I saw if some folks screen shots, that there must be a way to cause the open programs on the task bar to display wide.. Referring to sergio's theme, and a few others. I have dug into the taskbar options, but not struck gold, anyone know how this can be done?
System Wide spell checker? Does Win 7 have a system wide spell checker, something that will highlight all misspelled words with red underlining, then allow you to right-click on it to select the correct spelling? My win 7 was doing it for a while now it has stopped?
Outlook 2007 Task search versus Windows7 computer wide search.
I enter the same keyword (one of the words contained within the title of a completed task) in the Outlook Task search box as I do the Windows 7 orb 'search programs and files.' The Windows 7 search returns the correct search result (along with a lot other results having the same keyword) practically immediately whereas Outlook is still searching...and searching.
If I have index options set to include the C: drive and Outlook, what's going on with Outlook?
I am awaiting delivery (tomorrow I think) of a new custom built PC. I have decided on a 180GB SSD and a 500GB second SATA 111 HD. I store all my data files on an external HD so only put the OS and programs onto the usual "C" drive. The Win 7 OS will be pre installed on the SSD and the only other software i would like to "enjoy" the speed of the SSD is a Video editing prog. A still photo editor and a VM prog so that I can install Win XP with a couple of very old small programs. I need other progs like MS Office 2003 but I only use them very occasionally and would prefer to install them onto the second hard drive. Does this look sensible as I am new to SSD's?
I'm using an HP laptop and made a bootable flash key with the Microsoft utility (which I downloaded from Microsoft) to make a Windows 7 installation. I(supposedly) changed the boot order in the bIOS to look first at the key. Didn't work - booted directly into Windows 7 (seemingly bypassed the bootable key)1. How do I tell if the USB key is bootable?2. What could have prevented my BIOS from remembering my new boot order?3. What might be the reason(s) why my laptop won't boot from the USB key?HP Pavilion dv5t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PCSerial Number: CNF84816H3 Product Number: kq573av
My computer has started to make a bit of noise...it sounds like a faint hum, or constant drone, kind of like a fan noise. I checked the intake, exhaust and cpu fans by stopping them spinning and the noise is still there. It sounds like its coming from my PSU. Does that mean its on its way out? I have a Hiper 530watt PSU which I have had for about 4-5 years now.
I have to overwrite a windows 7 64 bit OEM with a windows 7 64 bit professional iso I got (yes I obtain it legally). I burned it onto a disc using a just a regular burning software that came with my computer(macbook pro), but you can't do that can you? You have to use a certain program that turns it into a bootable dvd, right? Am I correct or am I just taking nonsense.
Is it possible to make a specific folder in my Win7 installation public? I already have network sharing set-up between my Desktop and my Laptop on my network, but, at the moment, if I want to share something, I have to move it to the Public folder, use it, then delete it from there so that I don't have multiple copies of stuff floating around everywhere. However, I don't want to keep everything on my Window's drive, which means I can't simply move whatever I might be sharing to the Public folder to be used between my Laptop and my Desktop. I'm hoping there's a solution where I can simply share folders that I choose across the network. What I've Tried I've right-clicked on a folder and opened the properties, clicking on the "Sharing" tab. I then went to "Advanced Sharing" and checked off "Share this folder" with the Share name being the folder name, and the path was, by default, set to \ComputerNameFolder. This made it possible for me to see the folder on my Laptop (I shared one from my Desktop, essentially I'm trying to make my Laptop a satellite for my Desktop, which I'll explain at the end) but when I try opening the folder, my Laptop gets the following error message: "\ComputerNameFolder is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this sever to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied". Great. So I go back and click on "Share" in my folder properties, but the only users listed are the ones found on my computer, not over the network. So I click on the "I'm having trouble sharing" link, which brings up the help. The help mentions "Share with" on the right-click shell menu, so I try that and select Homegroup (Read/Write). Now I'm thinking I've finally done it, since I've now specifically specified that this is what I'm trying to do and granted that specific permission. Back on my Laptop I'm looking at \ComputerName and I see the folder there still, I try to open it and, voila, same error message. Now I'm stumped. Why Am I Doing This? I'm doing this mostly because my Desktop is the superior computer. It has better storage, etc... (as it should!) so it's the main computer. My Laptop runs Vista (important to mention!) and I like the fact that some of my programs run independently of the main computer, as it lets me do certain things on various websites simultaneously (nothing fishy mind you), which is great. However, for other things, I would like to just run my Laptop as if it was an extension of my Desktop. For instance, I record videos. I'd like to be able to record them on my Laptop if I so choose, but I want them to be recorded right on my Desktop, since it has the better storage. I also like to write, but I don't want multiple versions of stuff on various computers, though I do want the file on my computer somewhere, as opposed to being stored in the cloud. However, I like the freedom of being able to write wherever I might have my computer on the network, so, once again, I'd like to work directly off of the files from my Desktop. I play a text-based game in which I manage a lot of .txt files with stuff I use for the game, same deal as the writing, I might be playing the game on my Laptop instead of my Desktop and I might need to edit or add to those files, but I don't want to be trying to maintain two different folders of those files. I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture of what I'm looking for.
I got new laptop few days before. yesterday i was making 2 more partition. my C drive in which windows 7 has been installed had 500GB of space. so by using external application, i had decreased its size to 300GB. but from that time, some files has been corrupted. I cannot access that files now.. not even C drive.. I dont have recovery disc.
I've got a windows partition set-up like below: 39MB (healthy EISA config) -> 14.65 GB Recovery (D) -> 43 GB (C) -> 1.95GB (no name) ->91.39GB unallocated, The partitions are set-up in that order. When I click on the 1.95 to extend it / add it to the 91.39GB, I get an error: the operation failed to complete because the disk management console view is not up to date. I've attempted to update it and restart the computer to no avail. how I can get my 43GB combined with the 1.95GB and 91.39GB partitions located to the right of it?
