Annoying Mouse Lag - Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500
Sep 19, 2012Lately I have been having an annoying problem with my wireless mouse. For some reason the pointer will lag, and be very sluggish and jumpy. I've had this mouse on this computer for about a year and I've had no problem. Out of nowhere this problem is happening. I've tried re installing drivers with no luck. I tried uninstalling intellipoint and re-installing it, but when I tried I got the BSOD, and then it completely disabled my mouse and keyboard so I had to use wired peripherals to go in to safe mode and do a system restore. Now everything is working again, except my mouse is still jumpy.

Oct 6, 2011Running Win 7 64 bit on a Dell laptop. Previously had an older MS wireless mouse that worked fine. Went to upgrade to IE 9, and the mouse quit working. After repeated tries at un-connecting/re-connecting the USB, restarting computer, all met with failure. The system still does not recognize the device in the USB port. Have tried other ports as well with same result.
Being an older wireless mouse, went and purchased a newer HP optical wireless mouse. No driver included to install (no software at all). Same results in each port tried (3 in total) as the previous mouse. Device not recognized and not installed. Plug and play is on per what I can find in the system. New batteries were tried for both devices. Placing the mouse and receiver in different distances between while hitting the 'connect' buttons did no change.
Verified the new mouse is on the compatibility list for Win 7 64bit. Tried running the troubleshooter but it takes me continuously to the device page telling me the device is not recognized and not installed. Tried a system restore to yesterday, before I did the IE 9 upgrade/install (via online). Noticed System Restore said 2 windows updates were done at the time I did the IE upgrade. Completed system restore - no change for either mouse after trying all the above again, with system restarts as well.
Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 - Low Battery Already?
Jul 13, 2012Can't believe what you read nowadays anymore. I bought a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 to replace an ailing optical laser mouse that's on its last legs, and on the package it said that one "AA" battery would last for one entire year without replacing. What it meant was, it would have took until the next spring before it's time to replace the battery.Apparently, the mouse doesn't think like that, it appears, and when I was looking down at it, there was a red warning light indicating that the single battery had already been exhausted from use. Between surfing the web and playing some Team Fortress 2 now and then this is more than just a "mobile" mouse.

I can use the mouse on the msi bios. I then exited bios and installed the OS windows 7. During the install I was unable to use my logitech optical usb mouse however the keyboard was fine.Windows installed successfully but the mouse still wont work.

Jan 24, 2013I have a Dell XPS 14z which is about 11 months old. I have Windows 7. I am having trouble with left-clicking.I first noticed the problem while working in AutoCAD. I suddenly stopped being able to use my left-click button at all. I hit ctrl+S to save so that I could reboot, hoping the button would resume functioning when I restarted. Strangely left-click immediately started working again. Initially I only had this problem in AutoCAD. The semester ended and I stopped using AutoCAD. I was assuming that there was a problem with that program and planned to reinstall before the next (this) semester of school.Then, I started experiencing left-click problems while browsing the internet, I use Chrome. I do tend to open a lot of tabs at a time when I am running a search, don't know if this is relevant. Left-click sometimes would randomly stop working, sometimes it would just lag - click..... wait.... action long after expected, sometimes it would randomly also start working again. Sometimes when using the left button to drag a scroll bar in chrome it would "stick" (the function would stay on, the button did not appear to be physically stuck and this happens with mouse or touchpad) and moving the cursor away from the scroll bar would navigate the page up and down. The non functional left-click problem would also occur in Windows, when I would say attempt to go into device manager to see what was up.***I should also mention that when the left-click on the touch pad stops working double tapping the touchpad also stops working.***I have tried connecting a wired optical mouse - same issue occurs with the external mouse, though sometimes either the left-click on the mouse or touchpad will work while the other doesn't, both or neither will work playing with the mouse click settings, faster and slower double click - no luck updating the mouse and touchpad drivers - they report that they are up to date rolling back the drivers uninstalling the mouse going back to a restore point before the problem I saw one post which suggested that the display driver caused a similar problem, I have updated my display drivers I saw a post responding to a similar problem but only in internet browser, one reply suggested reregistering the dll for the mouse in IE. I tried this, didn't work - is there a dll which would address my problems?This seems like a hardware issue to me because both the touchpad and external mouse have the same problem? Agree/Disagree? I can do a system recovery or reformat if necessary, just looking for a way to avoid that if possible. I did manage to limp through backing everything up.

Sep 28, 2011I have an older box with an Intel 2.4C processor (2.4Ghz Pentium IV). It does have a lot of memory for its age (2GB) and 2x120GB hard drives. I'm thinking of using it mainly for my iTunes sync (actual media files are on a network share) and maybe MS Office (not intensively). Not all at once though Inevitably, I'd have to have some sort of anti-virus I suppose, which always slows things down, especially on a single processor machine.Anyway, don't need high performance, but if it's going to be unusably slow, I won't bother. I have an unused copy of Win 7...worth trying? Can I install Win 7 and then not activate immediately to see if performance is acceptable? If it is, I would activate within a few days - I just want to try things out before I burn the license.

Feb 13, 2013I just set up a new build with Asus P8Z77-V mobo and windows 7. Not knowing better I tried to install Al Suite from Asus and it didn't install correctly. Anyway it was giving me error codes and I could not uninstall all of its files. So I then used AutoRun to delete the files. Well I must have deleted something I shouldn't have because now my mouse and keyboard don't work in Windows. They do work in bios and I set bios to defaults. I also started in safe mode but nothing. I tried a PS wired keyboard and still nothing. Since its new I have no back-up or recovery disk. I can't even install a disk because I can't click run. The only thing I can think to do is disconnect everything from mobo even the battery then reconnect and see what happens. If all else fails I guess I'll have to format everything and start a clean install again.

Jun 12, 2010I usually dont beg, however, I have lost all keyboard and mouse funcitons in my computer and this happened directly after I installed my new Keyboard by Kensington PilotBoard. I have other 2.4Ghz wireless by Logitech as well as ps/2 and usb wired keyboards and mice by microsoft and logitech. It all was ok, the kensington mouse was not smooth so getting the buttons or whatever was recommended and went to the website for the 'most up to data' software. that was the end. after a reboot i have been lost. The computer boots up and actually functions in its serverlike capacity with its internet cable and for the center of the little home network. i just can not make the cursor arrow move. no keyboard input, I tried safe mode, nothing. I tried Safe Mode with Command Prompt, cant write a command even if i knew what to put in there. NO Safe Mode operation of usb, wired mouse or keyboard. I went to cmos and made all changes to basics , no good. but the only time the keyboard will work is directly in the bios . But not any Bios change I made had any impact on the lost functions.Since I built it myself, I have a back up or restore disc but can not access that. i can not roll anything back , cant get to device manager. or at least I havent been able to make it do anything but a boot. i do the reset to give me the options of another start in safe mode but it still has no key or mouse functions .

Sep 23, 2011just wanted to ask, if anyone by any chance has tried overclocking the new AMD's A6-3400M QuadCore 1.4Ghz. I've read somewhere that it can easily be set up to go 2.1 or even 2.3Ghz. I have never done any overclocking myself, so I'd also like to know which program or where in BIOS can this be done and are there any risks inlvolved.. its a new laptop so I do go overclocking only if its a safe thing to do.
PS. I've also read that this processor has in reality been underclocked.. to cut on voltage, power consumption, so essentially its a 'natural candidate'.

Jan 21, 2011My Partner is a professor at a major university and conducts a consulting business from home. We have 2 old desktops and a new HP Pavilion notebook on our home wireless network. The new notebook was set up by a University tech person 12/10 and was functioning properly. All the computers are linked to our older hp Laser Jet 1300 PCL 6 printer. One day the notebook froze and when rebooted it had lost its connection to the printer. I have done everything I know and followed numerous "geek" instructions to reconnect. So far I have succeeded only in losing my own printer access on my old Dell Dimension 2400 desktop. Prior to that, however, both old desktops were printing, even as the new notebook did not. Connection to the Internet is fine and the signal strength from the new Belkin router is "Excellent".
