View 2 Replies View RelatedJust had a new computer made up using Windows 64bit OS. I installed the old disc drive from my failing old computer as a slave drive, which I was using XP on a 32bit system expecting it was going to be easy to retieve all my data files. What a mistake that is turning out to be !!! Does anyone out there know how I can do this ? The files where password protected is this causing the problem? I guess I have the option of taking the drive out and re-installing it in the old system and then try to download the data into something useable for the new system.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a asus N61 about 7months old. running windows 7.
For the last few months the Date keeps randomly changing, usually the actual time is correct, but the date keeps changing at random intervals, sometimes it wont happen for a few weeks, then it might happen every couple days. then nothing again for a week or 2. and usually it goes forwards about 4 or 5 days. sometimes back a few days.
don't post anything about CMOS, As this is a new laptop, so it shouldn't be the cmos battery, ALSO it doesn't happen every time i turn the laptop off, so i doubt a old cmos battery would work sometimes and not others.
I turned last Date accessed on but it is showing me accessing the file just by opening the folder not by actually viewing the file. How do I fix this to only show if I click the file itself?

View 0 Replies View Related"date modified" field does not update when files are replaced in a zip folder while running Windows 7 64-bit.
Data files are stored in zip files and utilized daily. At the days end the files are replaced with the most current revision. The updated file displays the correct "date modified", however when the filed is transfered into the zip file, the "date modified" displayed within the zip file does not update.
I don't have this problem with Windows XP or 2000. Is there some hidden setting that is needed for Windows 7 to recognize file modification dates just as every version prior?
It becomes frustrating that Microsoft continues to add nice new fancy operating features, but yet continuously fails to ensure the basic functions are maintained.
I'm looking for any software utility that sets a pre-defined date/time of Windows system on startup.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to share a fix I have for a problem I was experiencing with windows explorer. The problem is clicking on a directory with a bunch of files in it (that has been set to sort by date as default) is painfully slow , like 3 or 4 secs. If the directory is set to sort alphabetically then every thing is ok.after much pain I found the problem to be down to my anti-virus solution, I was using Panda cloud anti-virus. Once uninstalled the problem is removed. clicking on the same directory opens it instantaneously
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Windows 7, whenever I click on a shared folder, it immediately does something (thumbnail creation?) and changes the modified date. So if I select mulyiple folders, they all have their modified date changed to the same time. Is there a known way to stop this from happening? It's a little annoying right now.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThere seems to be a bug in Windows 7 (as well as 8, from what I'm told) which causes the long date to be displayed with the day of the week all in lower case, such as "monday". I don't know what a "monday" is, the word does not exist either in my English dictionary or in my annotations of the grammar lessons I took back in primary school, as a child. How can I fix this bug so that days of the week are displayed in their grammatically correct and proper form, such as "Monday" (the first letter being capitalized) ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 premium. The taskbar/notification/clock area @ the bottom of my desktop is huge, like nearly an inch. The Time, Day and Date are one below the other. This takes up so much space especially when u have multiple toolbars, address bar etc @ the top not 2 mention the additional loss of space (of nothingness) @ the top. Leaves less working space than I'm happy with. How do I gain back the use of that half inch in the taskbar? Is it possible 2 gain back the lost area @ the top as well?.I have already gone to Properties and changed the settings there (use small icons). It made no difference at all.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've connected my USB microphone, but Windows tried to install it only once and said Failed. I can't see my microphone now, and not sure what to do. I've checked Device Manager, there's that exclamation sign next to USB Audio Device, but when I click Update Drivers, it just says that Drivers are Up To Date. I've tried installing Realtek HD Audio drivers instead, but they don't work - I can see in Control panel that they are installed, but they are nowhere to be seen on Windows, and didn't change anything after reboot. How can I get this USB mic working?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomething about Windows 7 that is very frustrating is that when I want to do a global search of my entire hard drive, and I type something in the search box that appears above Start logo when you click on it, it shows the results in a new window sorted by, according to Microsoft, relevance. Since I have a lot of data on my hard drive, these searches take a long time, around 2 minutes. I always need these search results to be sorted by date, so I then have to click on the "date received" column header to re-sort by date, which takes another 2 minutes or so.I really need these search results to sort by date, every time, by default, which will cut my searching time in half. There does not appear to be a setting for changing the default search results order for these types of searches (searches using the global search box above the Start logo).

View 2 Replies View Relatednyway, yesterday the date in the system tray randomly stopped appearing. It still shows the time, just not the date. I didn't change any settings or anything like that, I just remember looking down and noticing it was gone. I've looked in the date's settings and it still knows the correct date, it just will not put it on the task bar.I've looked on google to find people having similar problems, but nobody with a solution. I've tried restarting the computer as well, to no avail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWould like to restore system to a recent date to reverse some s/w updates that are causing problems. Apparently the option restore point creation function in the protection section of W-7 has been turned off since 06/2012, since that is the latest date listed under the system restore listing. Can I somehow restore to a later date maybe by accessing the calendar type options page similar to that of XP?
View 2 Replies View RelatedEven though Windows Update may fail to find them many newer drivers for Windows 7 are available for manual download at the Microsoft Update Catalog website if you manually search for them. You'll need to use IE to use the site. I found WDDM 1.1 drivers for my Intel G33 graphics that were newer than what I could find anywhere else. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog to search.
