View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I uninstall Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, my gadgets go corrupt (e.g. I can only see a black box with the clock gadget, I can only see an info icon with the weather gadget, I can't see the calendar even if it is on my desktop before uninstalling KIS 2010) and TuneUp Utilities 2010 also gets corrupt because I can't access the Start Center and I can't open WMP 12 because it's corrupted too. So I have to do a System Restore to restore the corrupt stuff and restore KIS 2010 as well but I want to switch to Avira and I can't switch to Avira because of this.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi installed the comodo firewall and decided to delete it. So i clicked on the delete button and if type in 'comodo' into my home windows for any files nothing comes up. So i thought it was gone. But when i was playing an online game the comodo firewall popped up asking if wanted to allow it to connect to the internet. How can i actually delete Comodo!?
View 3 Replies View Relatedhave successfully installed comodo 3, by setting the installer as vista compatibility.
i ran kapersky for a few days, but was fedup with the mass onslaught of program access queries.
i am having a slight problem with the firewall side of comodo: i know that it works when i can the 'stop activity' button and it shuts everything down, but when running leak test, the firewall does not respond, i have it on safe mode.
the incoming/outgoing monitor also shows no connections, could this be the problem? the program not communicating with windows correctly?
Is COMODO firewall compatible with windows 7?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust started setting up my backups with Comodo but suddenly realized that seemingly no name is associated with a backup. In my case I trying to create the following backups:
1. critical files: full/each-Sun
2. critical files: Inc/daily
3. studio files: full/1st-each-month
4. studio files: Inc/each-Sat
5. resource files: full/15-each-month
and so on...
But is it possible to create multiple backups using Comodo?? Or, am I just changing the full and Inc backups over and over again! How, for instance, can I check and/or change my 'critical files' backup?I have almost a T-Byte of data (I do 3D animation) which is why I like to breakup my backups.
I have 2 internal HDD drives, a 1 Tb master "C" drive and another for media which is named "Z" drive. I have a number of files that appeared on my Z drive that I cant really account for. I downloaded and installed Comodo backup free edition and that is all I've done out of the ordinary since the files appeared. I uninstalled Comodo but the files are still there.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis happened after I installed Comodo firewall. I'm not sure if that is relevant though. Anyway, I tried running the command "sfc /snannow" in the command prompt (in admin mode) but to no avail even after I restarted the system. Also, I can no longer create a system restore point manually. Which when clicked "create a restore point", they will show me these errors.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just run a virus scan and it found 4 files called NotAVirus.adware although I did notice it ended .win32 (this could be to deter people from removing it?). I decided to just run the recommended setting of deleting them and then automatically run a clean up afterwards. I attempted to access my internet using Netgear wireless smart wizard and it said it was unable to run the task, I attempted to connect through my network and sharing center and it said the page file was missing then windows posted a bad image message. My computer is pretty new (about 3 months). I've restarted and everything seems to be fine now. A cache error?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe just bought a HP Dv4 with Windows Vista Home Premium with the option to upgrade to Windows 7. We choose Windows 7 Professional and upgraded the notebook. View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium and I am getting an error saying the installation cannot continue because Kaspersky anti-virus is stopping the process. It asks me to look for it in the Control Panel and uninstall it.
Now, I would be happy to do so, but as far as I know, I have never installed Kaspersky AV, nor does it appear in the programs to uninstall. I have seen that there are a few people around who have had this problem, but I have seen to resolution to it, other than suggesting that a clean install be done. Obviously I can do that, but I really want to avoid it. I have too much stuff I'd have to re-install.
I have tried disabling other virus programs (as far as I know, I only have one provided by my ISP). I disabled Windows Defender. I also banged my head against a wall.
Anyone seen this? Why would it think a program is there, when it is not.

I recently purchased a lenovo laptop for home purpose around 1.5 months back. The laptop was having already microsoft security essentials (MSE) and mcafee antivirus plus software. Unfortunately, yesterday i was facing blue screen on death type of error (BSOD) error. On one forum, I found that it may be due to the mcafee antivirus software. So, I uninstalled the software as per suggestion. Why MSE was not able to detect this bsod error? Moreover, why mcafee, which itself is a anti-virus software, was causing this issue?
Morever, I want to install good free antivirus software. I am totally confused whether should I install the antivirus software or, the internet security software. Please throw more light on good free internet security software from longer perspective. (I just found that almost all free trials are only for 1 month only)? Moreover, why built-in windows firewall and microsoft security essentials (MSE) are not enough for detecting malacious software. Why extra internet security software or antivirus software is required ?
I recently bought a notebook PC, and was quite annoyed to find that Intel has magically removed the ability to change the Centrino N 130 wireless adapter's MAC address. Before the nutters get in here with accusations of "illegal" activity, I feel obligated to point out that there is nothing "illegal" about changing the MAC address on my own property. Briefly, I want to pose my notebook as a hypothetical attacker, trying to bump one of my other wireless devices off the router by assuming its MAC address. I don't really know what would happen if I did this, because, like I said, Intel artificially crippled the Centrino N 130 through its Windows 7 drivers. Rather paternalistic of them.Another benefit of the proposed experiment: showing the futility of MAC filtering in keeping out the "bad guys." I have been convinced of this for some time, but been simultaneously unable to demonstrate it to my own satisfaction. There is no substitute for actually trying something, rather than just reading about it.
I am also a little annoyed at the Centrino N's (lack of) performance. I have yet to have it connect at greater than 72 Mbit/s, even while sitting less than 10 feet from the router with a clear line of sight.FWIW, my router is a NetGear WNR3500v2. N wireless is enabled. As far as I know, this router is capable of supporting a full 300 Mbit or so 802.11n wireless connection, as long as the wireless NIC on the other end is doing its part (which mine doesn't).With all that in mind, can someone suggest an N-capable wireless NIC that is not purposely crippled by its manufacturer? I would prefer an internal mini-PCIe card, but Intel seem to be the only ones making those. Even a G-capable or USB device would probably serve the purpose, if that's all that's available.
I Windows 7 Home Premium. My windows is getting the updates but when it says configuring windows it doesn't do it and says it failure to config and is reverting back.I also cannot turn on Windows Security Center.I appears something happened 8/15. I tried microsoft's fixes and system restore which hasn't fixed the problems.[CODE]
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am new to Windows 7, I have home premium 64bit. I would just like to know if there are any simple tips (or not so simple) that I should use to make the system more secure than it is by default. Currently I just use a limited account and sanboxie, sometimes with firefox and no script. I keep away from obvious danger zones but I still like to keep secure.
