Interface Freezes, Cannot Click, But Programs Still Running (new SSD)?

Mar 11, 2012

I've recently installed a Kingston SSD and did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. It runs well most of the time, but once or twice a day, usually when browsing the internet using Chrome or Firefox, the mouse pointer will go to the "busy" circle, and the program will stop responding. When it does this, I can't click on any other programs on the taskbar or use ALT-TAB to switch to another program.he mouse moves, but I can't interact with anything. If I'm playing music with Spotify in the background, or video chatting on Skype, they still run in the background, the skype video for the recipient doesn't even freeze.So it seems that all the programs are running, but my user interface stops working properly.

Computer Freezes When Running Standard Programs?

Mar 28, 2012

So I've just built a new computer with the new 2011 chipset and initially the computer would freeze without warning while I'm playing games through steam, since then I have reinstalled windows and now it freezes when playing video files and FileZilla. I have no idea what is going wrong with the computer as I have updated the drivers and tried checking the components individually. Temp readings are normal and used memtest and intel burn test to check the ram and CPU. I have used my old nvidia GeForce 8800gt graphics card instead of the new one but it still doesn't work. I'm running windows 7 ultimate x64 with a 120GB OSZ agility3 SSD, gigabyte GTX570 GPU, asrock x79 extreme4 mobo, intel i7 3930K CPU with corsair H80 water cooling coolermaster storm scout case and coolermaster GX 750W power supply

PC Randomly Freezes And Buzzes When Running Programs

Aug 1, 2012

Throughout the past week my computer has been sporadically freezing and buzzing, forcing me to restart when it happens. At random intervals it will freeze and proceed to make a buzzing noise that emits from my speakers. It never crashes to blue screen, I ultimately have to force a restart.

I've made sure that everything is properly connected and that the computer is clean. I'm not really sure what the problem is.

Programs Won't Run At All - No Such Interface Supported

Jan 23, 2011

I just turned on my sony vaio laptop that runs windows 7 home premium and when I try to run any type of application, it shows an error saying "No such interface supported" I've tried everything in the forum and nothings working. I can't get into regedit.exe to fix the registry and the error pops up when i try to
do a recovery, and also I don't have a back up. The weird thing is that it can run programs through other ways. I was able to open itunes by manually clicking a song, and I had to manually turn on my wireless hardware to get internet connection.

Programs Won't Run Unless First Right Click And Click Run As Administrator

Jul 7, 2011

I'm trying to fix my friends computer and I'm having some issues. There was a nasty virus on it that I managed to get rid of, but now programs won't run unless I first right click and click "Run as Administrator". Shortcuts also won't work (I assume for the same reason.) Does anyone know of a fix for this so we don't have to constantly click "Run as Administrator"? By the way, there is only one user on the computer and it is an administrator.

Two Desktops Running At Same Time / Background Programs Running

Jan 29, 2012

As I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.

"An Error Occurred While Releasing Interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The System Cannot Find The File Specified"

Sep 15, 2011

So yesterday in the early AM's I was browsing my internet and all the sudden, bam.i lost my internet.No reason at all, it just happened. This is only my computer, everything else works fine (If internet is out, our TV's don't work)When I go to my little internet icon in the taskbar, it says Unidentified Network and I have no internet access what so ever.When I run CMD and use ipconfig /release I get this:"An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified."I also got this error before:"An error occurred while releasing interface Local Area Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint." Tech support kept telling me to use ipconfig /flushdns but whenever I entered it into CMD it gave me an error saying something along the lines of "command unrecognized" I cannot give you guys the full text of what CMD says since it's on a different computer.I am using a direct ethernet cord, not wireless.

* ipconfig /release and /renew and /flushdns
* Turn off firewall
* Update and Reinstall Driver
* Restarting my modem/router
* Restarting my computer
* Unplugging my ethernet cord and replugging it (also leaving it unplugged over-night)
* Manually assigning the 12 code I'm assuming IP

Notebook Freezes With One Simple Click All The Time

Oct 27, 2012

I'm working on a friend's notebook. It was brought to my attention because it was so slow they couldn't do anything with it. And it usually is THAT slow. Because there was no anti-virus program running, and because I couldn't seem to do anything with it, I re-installed the Windows 7 OS through the recovery program. It still is as slow as it was before.

Right now I have it working better only because I have disabled everything in the startup and only have microsoft services running (through msconfig).

Another problem is that it will no longer update windows. I had installed Panda Cloud Antivirus, thinking it would be best because my understanding is it is low on system resource usage. That won't run now either. I have uninstalled it, in case it's causing issues. The system has no antivirus right now.

I have tried so many things I wouldn't know where to begin to explain. The usual things are not helping. I am self taught and usually can sort things out enough to get things going again, but not with this one. There are thousands of error messages and what nots in the event log.

Computer Specs:

HP Compaq Mini CQ10-500
Intel Atom CPU

Cannot Access Some Programs With Right-click

Click On All Programs, Everything Slow To Load?

Jan 16, 2012

If I click on All Programs and then on C drive, it'll open up with a blank page and then a green bar starts moving slowly across the top. When it gets to the end, it just sits there.Pictures, Games and Music do the same thing. Games is blank and no green bar. The CPU, according to the meter, is running at about 1 or 2 %. Checking with Task Manager, nothing else is running.The only way to get it to work, is to Log Off and then Log back on. It'll be OK for a while and then does it again.

Right Click Menu On Programs In The Taskbar

Aug 22, 2009

In Vista and older versions, if I right clicked on a program in the taskbar I could then move the mouse up ever so slightly to click "close."

Now there is a weird little "box" that pops up instead of a menu, and I have to move my mouse significantly further to get to "close." Sounds trivial, but if I am shutting down several applications in a row it is much slower this way.

Is there a way to return the right click menu to normal?

Double Click No Longer Starts Programs

Aug 10, 2010

The only way I seem to be able to launch a program is to right click and select "Run as Administrator". This odd behavior only happens on a system I have designated as my media server. It is a P4 3.06Ghz w/4 GB Memory, Hyper Threading, and ~ 4 TB of storage. I am running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. I've checked my mouse settings and internet options and don't see anything out of the ordinary as compared to my other Win 7 systems which work normally.

It began acting strangely about 4 to 6 weeks ago after a massive Windows Update. Windows Update crashed in the middle of the update and began what seemed at first to be a endless reboot loop to install the updates which invariably failed.

I was just about to pull the plug and rebuild the system from scratch when it finally booted up saying all the updates were successful!?!? However, since that time programs will only launch when I right click and select "Run as Administrator". Double clicking either program shortcuts or registered file types starts the "busy" indicator but it stops after a few seconds with no action. For the programs I use on that system most often it's not a problem. However, there are some program file types like ".msi" where "Run as Administrator" is not on the "right click" options menu. I can't do anything with them.

Programs / Windows Explorer Stop Responding Whenever Click To Print

Aug 26, 2011

A colleague of mine using the 64bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise has been having this problem for the past day or so. No matter what program he's using, as soon as he clicks print, the program stops responding. This even happens if you try to print a test page - Windows Explorer stops responding. It's not printer specific, since this happens before you have the option to select a printer (and he has several, one local printer and a few network printers). I've tried running the troubleshooting tool, but all that does is restart the print spooler, which doesn't stop the problem.

Computer Freezes Unless Running In SAFE Mode?

Mar 11, 2012

I have a Toshiba laptop running Win 7 (64bit). Lately the computer freezes up in less than five minutes if running in normal mode, leaving only hard-boot option. When restarting, I go to "Safe with Networking" mode, and everything seems to run fine, even internet. I have repeatedly run scans from: Malwarebytes; SuperAntiSpyware; SpyBot; Windows Defender; CCleaner; Periform FixCleaner; TDSSKiller, and probably another half dozen. I have reset the Hosts file, and recovered to a reset point established back in December, before the current problems began. Nothing has solved the problem (any threats found in the various scans were removed, but that had no effect on the current problem). I suspect, from the scan results, that the problem is not malware. I think there may be a corrupt or damaged file or process somewhere in the system. The OS is factory installed, and the laptop did not come with a Windows disk. What's the best way to clean this up

Screen Randomly Freezes But Computer Still Running?

Aug 8, 2012

So this has been happening ever since I got my computer. I took it in to see if a service could take a look at it and they ran a benchmark to get the usage to 100% for like 22 hours. Computer was still running fine he recommended me to get a UPS because it could be browning out but that solved nothing.

So what basically happens is that once a week or 3 times a day, it happens randomly, could be while playing a game or just browsing the web. What happens is that the monitor just freezes it is still on it is like a screenshot of my screen it stays still, cursor stops, audio stops, everything. The computer is still running fine it could be a failure in hardware but most likely not. It is not the monitor itself because it worked fine with the same monitor with my previous computer and I just got a new monitor last week.

I also noticed is if it happens once then it'll happen a few more times in a day then it'll stop for 1-2 days and start again, could just be a coincidence but I don't know...
